We have a very good team. Why panic?
I made his post just to remind myself and the rest of the redkin nation (and the hog lovers) that we are not 2 more years and maybe we'll have a shot kind of team. I think we all forgot the amount of talent we have on this team, the 2009 season was merely what a team looks like with no leadership or attitude. I'm confident that shanahan, turner, the newly acquired linebackers coach from the steelers and others will bring out the best of our team in the coming season. I even have faith in Mr. Syder himself, hate it or love it, this guy never gives up and every season he gives this team the tools and talent we need to succeed. Whether it's through the draft or free agency, he's willing and dealing to get this team through. May have not been the best of ways but I'm sure he learned from it, but you gotta like the guys intentions. With 5 draft picks at the moment and money to blow, I know there's a master plan in the making. We have the luxury of being one of the richest teams in the NFL,with players wanting more money and less abundant teams willing to pay, it's our playground to have fun in. I don't think there's nothing wrong in attacking the free agent market as we did in the past, there's alot of young talent out there, I think the problem exists on out evaluation of the palyers we bring in. Meaning we just can't look at talent alone, we have to bring in those players who have the work ethic and a serious approach to playing hard, the ones that not all about the money basically. The only knock against us is that we play in the most competitive division in the NFL, every team in our division (philly, cowboys, giants) have high expectations every year and there GM's are forced to meet tose expectations. There's no rebuilding in our division, every year every team in our division is supposed to be super bowl bound or atleast make the playoffs. There isn't another division in the league that has such high demand teams as ours. Puts alot of pressure on us, that is why we cannot settle for mediocre and be as active and creativee as possible just to keep up.
Another subject I want to touch on is our defense. We all know our defense is our strength, we cannot afford to ignore it or it will slip away. I mean it surprises me when i here alot of you say we should trade Rogers or let him go, but then the same ones want to keep Cooley because how cool it would be run two TE sets. When did two TE's become more important than a shut down corner, especially in a passing league. Most games Rogers shut down his side of the field completely, ever notice why he consistently gets thrown at the least. Now he's not a highlight waiting to happen nor can he catch but he's the main reason we had one of the best pass defenses in the league. and some you want to get rid of him, c'mon, especially considering we don't have that great of a pass rush. We need to pay that guy, he's 28 and got atleast 5 more years, we let this guy go and I promise you he'll be the most wanted corner on every teams radar.
Sorry peeps just alot of things I wanted to get off my chest....i'm sure I got some more but i'll pace it. Well do you guys think? Thanks
