Campbell is the QB in 2010; where to we go from there:
Lets assume Allen chooses Shanahan to become the next HC of the Redskins. I'll do this for LJP, as he is the biggest advocate of keeping JC17 around(at least for another year). I too believe we need to fix the O-Line, and fast, so take a look at this scenerio and see if it makes sense:
I'm going off the premis that there will be no new CBA reached for 2010, and we will have an un-capped year. We offer JC a tender of 3 mill. Someone ofers 3 .5 mill, an we match the offer, and keep JC for 2010. Here is a look at a potential Mock Draft for the Skins. I'm going to assume no trades take place, so we have a 1, 2, 4, 5, (I'll spor there because any guesses past that point are too unknown)
I'll say we are picking 5th in the draft.
1st - Anthony Davis LT - Rutgers Davis is one of the fastest risers in this draft since he declared early 3 weeks ago. Keiper had him listed as his top junior OT prospect, and it's between him and Williams to be the 2nd OT taken. The Redskins take Davis here because of his size, and athletic ability. He has shown some of the best footwork off all the OT prospect this year(including Okung). He has a mean streak, but sometimes, to his own addmittance, takes plays off. He has some early off-field troubles, but they should all be behind him by this point. His celing is very high. Others of consideration: Trent Williams, OT Oklahoma. CJ Spiller, RB Clemson
2nd - Ciron Black OT -LSU. I watched Black yesterday in the Cap One Bowl against PSU, and that game echoes what I have felt all season; he does not have the footwork to play LT in the NFL. He is much better as a run blocker, and will fit better on the right side in the NFL. He is a bit of a waist bender, who needs to work on his footwork to get himself into better position to handel the speed rush. He was continually beaten off the edge by PSU's DE's. He did do a nice job in run blocking, and has the ability and the punch to get off his initial block and get on the LB's. I would have the Redskins putting him at RT. Others of consideration: Jason Fox, OT Miami. Selvish Capers, OT WVU. Ryan Matthews, RB Fresno St.
4th - Tony Pike QB - Cinn. I don't know if Pike will last this long, but if he does, he would be worth drafting. Pike didn't start until his junion year, but made the most of his opportunity when given the chance in Brian Kelly's offense. He led Cinn to back-to-back big east titles and 2 BSC bowl berths. He threw 26 TD and only 4 ints this season despite missing time with a broken arm. Pike is a big QB, and shown good touch on the short to intermediate routs, yet has the arm strength to throw the 15yd out and the 20-25yds dig. He played monstl in the shotgun in college, so he will have to adjust to bein under center. Is not ver mobile, but slides well in the pocket.
5th - Dennis Landolt OT/OG - PSU. Was moved from RT to LT for his senior season at PSU. Helped PSU QB Daryll Clark to become the first 3000 yd passer for a season in PSU history. Was voted all-big ten by the coaches, and made all-american team also voted on by the coaches. Landolt may be better suited to play G in the NFL, but is versatile enough to play OT.
Later pick - LeGarrett Blount - RB Oregon. Blount is a bruiser, who if it wern't for issues during his senior season, could have been projected in the 2-3 rd area. He showed good power against one of the best defenses in the country in yesterdays Rose Bowl against Ohio St. Has good speed for a back his size.

I really like the picks here
Two good OTs, smart. Like skinaholic above reacted, I’m unsure about Pike. He’d be a decent project…but the spread to the NFL is a rough transition. Pike is a good armed, big QB, but he is a project. I love the Blount pick, even if he is a bit of a criminal, the guy is a great running back and if we keep him out of trouble he is gonna be the steal of the draft.
Campbell stays?
If Campell stays, I like the picks. Davis is a beast, and Black seems a sure keeper. I too, am unsure about Pike, but who knows how a kid developes once he turns pro. Let’s assume he turns out ok, which is to say he becomes another Campbell. The question we have to ask ourselves is: Do you want a good QB with a great O-line? Or do you want a great QB with a good O-line? History tells us that good QB’s do win super bowls, but are inconsistant and their teams don’t have continued success. On the other hand, history shows that great QB’s win mulitple championships, and their teams have consistant success and long playoff runs. I personally would rather have or take a chance on getting a great QB, and building a solid, consistant O-line.
Superbowl wins make great QB's not the other way around.
Perfect example, Jim Kelly. He took his team to the super bowl four consecutive years and could not pull out a win. You can look at his numbers and tell he is one of the greats………except he never won a super bowl so is he really that great? Dan Marino was given his superbowl to win but could only come up with one touch down. The offense ran 8 times.
You talk about great QBs winning multiple championships but it’s not the QB who wins it, it’s the team. You see better teams win games not better QBs. Do you think that Tom Brady is the one reason why the Patriots have had the dynasty they’ve had? No it’s because their team had a balanced offense and Tom Brady was not what they relied on. They relied on their run game and their defense to set plays for Brady. In every superbowl that Brady has won, the team ran for over 100 yards. You can tell by the last Superbowl they were in that they relied to heavily on Brady to make plays. Their age at linebacker really hurt them down the stretch and the team only ran 15 times for under 50 yards. Ben Roethlisberger in his first superbowl threw 9/21 for 123 and 2 INTs, hardly numbers that scream scream elite, yet they won by 21-10. Peyton Manning threw for over 200 yards in his superbowl win, but the team also almost ran for 200. I could go on but i think my point is made.

Nobetter, Great Post that has been my point as well. The team is the Redskins not the Jasonskins.
For some reason "some’ people think JC can block, catch passes, kick easy field goals, run the ball, play defensive back, make tackles and coach all by himself ??
With a good line...
he’ll be a top 10 in all those positions easy. :)

Draft according to need in rds 1, 2, and 4.
Assuming Jason stays, the 1st and 2nd round picks on offensive line. Forth round running backs without injury history likely to be available are Ben Tate and Chris Brown. Montario Hardesty may drop to the 4th round. Tiller’s alternative picks in the 1st and 2nd round look interesting when the 4th round picks are considered. That means a 4th round OL would be needed to get two OL draft picks such as Sam Young (OT), J.D. Walton ©, Ted Larsen ©, Mitch Petrus (G), Zane Beadles (OT), Rodger Saffold (OT) or Brandon Carter (OG). It almost looks like the 4th round and later rounds should be the best player available at any of the lesser needed positions.
Eleven Junior Tackles in the first 25.
The tackle draft picks are contingent on what is available after the Skins first round pick. The door is open for most of the teams to pick tackles after the Skins first pick. That is one reason why it is essential to take the best tackle available in the 1st round. There may be better quality than usual in the later rounds at the tackle position with so many juniors optioning for the draft.

Very good
Though maybe in the 4th round I say the redskins should go after an explosive player such noel Devine (WVU), should he declare for the draft. Or maybe even Mike James (UF) in one of the Later rounds. Outside of Santana Moss their is a lack of speed on offense. It would be nice to see that addressed this off Season.
That's a scary statement
Outside of Santana Moss their is a lack of speed on offense.
SM has definitely lost more than a step after seeing him run down from behind by a Dallas LB. He needs to become the #2 or slot receiver, make DThomas our #1 and got to a 2 to 3 TE end set with Yoder, Chris and Davis. Our size and speed at TE would definitely create mismatches for the D.

Changing the intial post's guideline's...and then
Rather then ignore the FA’s, I want to spend some of Danny’s green. Buy the best FA LT out there, then ditto the best FA RT. Then go into the draft with a good plan and the leeway to adjust as the draft goes. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THE DRAFT GIVES YOU. THE PLAYER EVERYONE RAVES ABOUT OFTEN TURNS OUT TO BE A MUTT!
PS. How many college super-studs have lost 20 lbs of muscle and a step of speed when they went to a league that actually had steroid testing?
The problem with that
No one in the NFL Lets a good tackle hit the free agent market. Especially this season where if the CPA isnt reach nearly every player of starting value will be a ristricted free agent.

QB WITH 1ST RD PICK...
I might be a Ravens or Colts fan for the next 10 years. Well no, but that leaves me with the Nats? and the Wizards for my DC sports fix. All linemen for all our picks? It worked in Madden!
