Haynesworth's difference on the field
" Like any other defensive lineman, Haynesworth gets breaks. In the opener, Haynesworth played 45 of the Redskins defense's 61 snaps (73.7 percent)."
Haynesworth played more than I thought he did. I remember Jeff Fisher saying that Haynesworth played about 60% of their defensive snaps so obviously he was out there more for us, even though it was only one game.
This pretty much sums up Haynesworth's effectiveness for us perfectly.
BREAKING IT DOWN
Run Location-----Att-----Yds-----Avg
Away From Haynesworth-----10-----44-----4.4
At Haynesworth-----3-----(-2)-----(-0.7)
Outside On Haynesworth's side-----8-----16-----2.0
Haynesworth On Bench-----7-----48-----6.86
I admit that I was expecting more push up the middle from Haynesworth, or even a sack here or there. However, you have to admit that no one is going to successfully run on us with Haynesworth in the game.

yea...
Fanshot text area is meant for just text…I fixed it some and Front Paged.
Anyone who said Albert didn’t earn his paycheck, this definitely proves he did. The DE’s should have helped more but they didn’t. Not even so much with sacks, but letting the RB around them.

These stats are great but is that what we brought him here for?
I don’t think we paid Albert $41 million guaranteed to be a run stuffer. If that were the case, we could have gotten some fatty for a lot cheaper. Albert was brought in to fix the pass rush and so far we haven’t seen it. Whether it’s his fault or the defensive end’s, someone needs to step up.

Well...
The assumption was Albert would get double/triple teamed leaving Andre Carter and Orakpo to beat their guys 1-1…not the case across the board.
Blache in camp said he’d move #92 around…we should see some big changes this week.

We paid Al to Crush the run and get some push
He only had like 6 sacks last year you can’t expect him to get a sack every game. I also think the fact that the DB’s conceded pretty much any pass under 10 yards with their stupid cushion allowed Manning to be able to get rid of the ball really quickly. It’s tough for a DT to get some pressure when the QB can take a 3 step drop and throw to a wide open WR every play.

These are great stat lines
They should bounce him around on the interior sometimes. Maybe even play end for a play or two during the game. Make the opposing team call run audibles. I read somewhere that he has played some DE in the NFL. Obviously, everyone is going to stay away from him, which helps the rest of the D but, if they move him around now and then, they can’t just plan their offense for him being in one spot all the time. It’s just a thought.
From the same link above
For most of the game, the Giants tried to avoid Haynesworth at all costs. Washington made that relatively easy, as Haynesworth didn’t move around much. He lined up for one play at right defensive end and one play at left defensive tackle, but for the other 43 snaps, he was at his normal right defensive tackle spot.
I’d like for us to move Fat Al around more to switch things up a little. I think the Rams game is perfect to try some things out on offense and defense.
As a fellow NFC East fan (Eagles)
I think these stats are astounding! Aside from the fact that I think you paid WAY too much money to the guy…it scares me to hell to have little Westy or McCoy try to move through your DLine.
In fact, your defense as a whole is a good unit…In my opinion, the ONLY reason the “experts” are picking you guys at the bottom of the division is your QB. He’s the worst one in the division…but really, I’m in no position to talk, cuz you guys swept us last year.
"What did it feel like? That collision, I didn't feel nothing, because he was pretty much defenseless. It was like running through a cardboard box. Seriously. Cardboard box."- Sheldon Brown on his pounding of Reggie Bush in the '06 Playoffs
That's true
If the best rushing team in the entire league couldn’t successfully move our line, I don’t see how the Eagles (or anybody else) will be able to with Haynesworth in the game.
You should be even more scared because Haynesworth and our defense hasn’t hit their stride yet. Haynesworth isn’t completely in game shape so look for him (and our entire defense) to improve and begin to get more pressure and sacks on opposing QBs.
Thus far, Campbell does look like the worst QB in the division. However, as you said, we swept the Eagles so having the better QB doesn’t matter if you don’t win the game.
actually
the Eagles are the one team in the division who can counteract Haynesworth’s ‘up-the-middle-push’, since McNabb works better outta the pocket, and Westbrook usually stays outside anyway. I can’t wait to see Marion Barber try bulling up the middle on us.
I'd be interested to see
the breakdown for Bradshaw’s carries as opposed to Jacobs, and if one hurt us more with Haynesworth on the bench than the other. I feel like we had a really tough time dealing with the change of pace, but I don’t know if the stats back it up.
Bradshaw had 12 carries for 60 yards (5.0 ypc average) but he had a long run of 22 yards. So if you take that long run away he would have had 11 caries for 38 yards with a 3.45 ypc average. Jacobs had 16 carries for 46 yards (2.9 ypc average!) and a long run of 15 yards. I’m not sure if either of their long runs was when Haynesworth was on the bench or not, but I can only assume that they were.
The change of pace back did hurt us a little more but overall we held the best rushing team in the league last year to a 3.3 ypc average when they had a 5.0 average last year.
Nice
But Dallas and Carolina are also very good rushing teams with change of pace backs. And Tampa Bay embarrassed the Cowboys run defense. I’d like to see the defense tighten up even more against those teams if its going to call itself “elite”. I’d like to see team rushing totals of under 50 yards.
I'm worried that teams will keep on attacking the edges with the run
Orakpo and McIntosh need to make stops on the edges to make the defense effective.
