Why Jim Zorn Is The Wrong Coach For The Skins

Hello Hogs Haven readers.  I wrote a story on my blog about the fallacies of Redskins Head Coach Jim Zorn.  I thought that this year Zorn was going to be different.  I thought that he would take the kid gloves off of Jason Campbell.  I thought his play-calling would be the opposite of the pedestrian play-calling we saw in 2008.  However, I thought he stunk on Sunday.  And I decided to explain why this will be Zorn's last season in D.C.

Give it a read if you got the time.  Copy and paste the link.

I mostly agree

I like Zorn too…..I am not even sure he would have been good as the OC though…The play calling is very simple….run left…quick out to Moss..Randle El in the slot..Cooley in the middle….if you can game plan that..we are in trouble….I read the blog also…it seems to me, Zorn does not get it, yet……..I am not sure if he is fixable……..Although last year we easily could have finished 11-5……So, after one game this year.I am not writing him off….we should have a good idea were we are at in Wk 7 on monday night against the Eagles……Go Skins!! No Tebow please!!!!

if Zorn doesn't make it

I hear they are grooming James Thrash to take over. Personally, I think they should make Portis a player-coach. Here’s 5 reasons why CP would be perfect for the job…

1- aside from Gibbs, he’s the only person Snyder will listen to.

2 – nobody can say anything about him taking himself out of the game.

3 – more press conferences, more chances at seeing his alter-egos.

4 – he could make Big Al defensive coordinator, then no one could say anything about HIM taking himself out

5 – most importantly, he could teach the offense HOW TO FRIGGIN BLOCK!!!

there's the big flaw

“aside from Gibbs, he’s the only person Snyder will listen to”

The big problem in the organization is that we have no real FO and Danny runs amock without a clue on what he’s doing.

It hurts to be in the world of the Raiders fans where Al Davis continually undermines the FO and coaching staff.

forgive me for not reading the blog post but… this game was a great example of a coach putting his players in position to win, and the players not getting it done. There were numerous plays where if the players had done what they were supposed to, we could have stolen this road game. I’m mystified that anyone wants to blame this on coaches.

I’m a JC supporter, but he made a couple of bad plays on the turnovers that were really costly. Correctable.

Add in some missed tackles and poor secondary play… we lost.

last minute TD

You really can not even count our 4th Qt TD…..the was one of those prevent defense garbage TD’s…..we need a lot of work….

What?

There were no “garbage TD’s” as you say in that game. Please let me know of any quotes or any evidence at all from the Giants that says they wanted us to score on that drive. Until you give me any factual evidence saying that they meant for us to score and have the possibility of us winning the game, I’m calling that TD legitimate.

TD

I did not say they wanted us to score….23-10 and there was only a few minutes left in the game. Come on, the giants didn’t bring the heat much on that last drive. I am calling it a garbage TD….We did not move the ball that well on any other drive but the one we got the fake field goal on…..Garbage in my opinion….but hey, I’m with you….I hope it was all Zorn and the Offense….(shrug)

funny

nearly word for word what I said to a Giants fan yesterday. This subject makes me chuckle. I guess that the Patriots 4th quarter TD was garbage also, because Buffalo was ahead and playing prevent defense. I just can’t figure out which one was garbage, the one that brought them within 5, or the one that WON THE GAME FOR THEM.

I’d like someone to tell me exactly what we’re supposed to do in that instance? Should Zorn have called timeout, sent a QC assistant over to Coughlin and asked him “please don’t play a prevent defense, because if we score we want it to actually COUNT in the eyes of our skeptics.”

TD

The Bills gave that away..come on…The idiot coming out of the end zone was a horrible move…..if not for that , they just run the clock out, just like the giants did……

EXACTLY

ah- HA!!! I DID IT. I finally got through to someone.
 I’m so happy.

So, what you’re saying is, even though the Bills played better for 3 1/2 quarters, the Patriots KEPT PLAYING, and subsequently WON THE GAME? BRILLIANT!!

I knew I could find a kindred spirit.

I am saying we were lucky to get that TD…..its over and done…..lets just see if the Rams will embarrass us again or we actually beat someone…we should beat them buy at least 2 td’s….

They always say that great minds think alike.

yes

the players played awful. But it was as much the coaches fault as the players. The CB’s should not be playing 10 yard off Larry, Moe, and Curly, or whatever the hell the names are of the Giants receivers. The point is, they’re not named Fitzgerald, R. Moss, C. Johnson, etc, etc.

and the offense needs to run more than 6 plays. How many times do you need to run off left tackle for a loss before you realize they have that one figured out?

damnit

I meant to reply to hsoup. $h!t.

by CJHutch on Sep 16, 2009 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I wish I could argue

But I can’t. I think you hit the nail right on the head. What saddens me is that I have no reason to think that Snyders next move will be any better.
