Game Thread: Redskins vs Giants

I'm at Giants Stadium for the game and will be dropping in on this thread and our twitter. All the Giants fans I'm with have this game as an assured blowout. I have multiple bets for the Skins to cover. How can you not take points week 1? Although I don't see how the Saints and Ravens don't cover those -14 point spreads. Have at it....

Fine with me.

We get Carolina in a few weeks.

If Philly can’t score on them, just wait until they meet our D.

I used

to think Theismann, but it’s gotta be Moose. At least Joey T will acknowledge the other team. Moose is openly campaigning for Dallas on these calls.

There is bad play, criticism, and then f***ing giving up in the first half of the first week of the season.

That doesn’t show me a fan. That shows me a loser.

Fans don’t give up so easily, that is for bandwagoneers.

We gave up a big pass play to Manningham, and JC threw a pick. We are down 17 at the half.
Is that the end of the world?? The season even??

We have only been on the field a third of the time. We start making plays and we are back in it. Positive thinking people.

offensive juggernaut

so the only points you got in the first half came off a fake field goal. maybe now the maker of this blog will finally admit that the redskins are not a 10-6 caliber team. i mean, they can’t even move the ball except for fluke plays

Haha yeah you really owned me!!

Too bad I didn’t realize we were still having a conversation. Follow this LINK to my apology…

Oh wait, that wasn’t it. That was a link to where our blog maker?? manager predicted we would go 8-8. Here it is highlighted:

Kevin Ewoldt, Hogs Haven

1. Predict the regular season record of the 2009 Washington Redskins. 8-8

2. Will the Redskins make the playoffs? No

3. Who will be the Offensive MVP of the 2009 Washington Redskins? Fred Davis

b. Who will be the Defensive MVP of the 2009 Washington Redskins? Brian Orakpo

4. Will Jim Zorn be the head coach of the 2010 Washington Redskins? No

5. Will Jason Campbell be the starting quarterback of the 2010 Washington Redskins? Yes

Further comments: If Zorn and Campbell do well up to the BYE week, there will of course be a lot of cautious optimism, which does not bode well for Campbell’s chances of a mid-season contract extension. On the defensive side, Haynesworth, Carlos, and London Fletcher are already battling injuries. Is it likely all three of these KEY players can stay healthy the next 17 weeks? I certainly pray so, but odds are against us.

Happy?

Now GFY and STFU.

well you must have a fickle blog “MAKER!!!” because in the link i posted, he clearly states that the redskins go 10-6 and place 2nd in the division……..behind the G-men! ya know,

for as variety-free as the skins offense has been, the scoreboard is closer than might be expected

we had a better chance on 3rd and short

The Giants D-Line is the problem right now.

Portis can’t run anywhere, and campbell has little time.

Hunter has had entirely too many opportunities to showcase his punting skills

Hunter has had entirely too many opportunities to showcase his punting all around skills

by CJHutch on Sep 13, 2009 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Hunter's leg seems to have gone weak

Maybe it was the TD run? That should have pinned them at least back at the ten

by BillWard on Sep 13, 2009 6:43 PM EDT reply actions

why

so they can pad their stats?

How's the QB depth on the Skins, anyway?

Is he any good?

THe Bears had to let Brett Basenez onto the practice squad, and he’s not bad.

Maybe the defense can make a TD

There you go Rogers

at least somebody came to play!!

by VA_Skin on Sep 13, 2009 6:46 PM EDT reply actions

look at that

it IS possible to throw the ball downfield

by CJHutch on Sep 13, 2009 6:47 PM EDT reply actions

That's why

The Giants are contenders…and the Redskins are not. We have no sense of clutch. Our coaches can’t put this team in position to win a game like this.

We weren't that far off in this game

If Horton comes up with that early Int that he dropped, that score would be just about reversed.

by BillWard on Sep 13, 2009 6:55 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not necessarily saying we'll go 5-11 or anything

But we haven’t looked good at all in this game, defense or offense.

by bigrm18 on Sep 13, 2009 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Just thinK

Before you know it the Skins become 6-2, before another 2-6 collapse
The same team as last year

by dr WNC on Sep 13, 2009 6:56 PM EDT reply actions

Zorn is what happened to the offense.

Give it to the G-men for coming out and doing what they’ve been doing. But there is no way you can win games against good teams like the Giants with horrid playcalling and bad game management. We will be lucky to beat the Cowboys once this year. 1-5 in the division.

Man I wish we were playing the Giants NEXT week

And have had the Rams this week…
With the injuries that the Giants are getting, it would have been a different game totally

by BillWard on Sep 13, 2009 6:58 PM EDT reply actions

yeah

the only way you would have a chance to beat the giants is via an injury

by bmanley620 on Sep 13, 2009 7:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Dude, Two plays and this would have been a 1 point game

And now, with Cooley getting a TD, it would have been a 6 point REDSKINS game

Hicks & Ware

is the only one who is going to be out for a significant time. The other injuries were dings.

Good game.

Campbell is a good QB. O-Line is gonna hurt you tho.

I think the better team won, but I wouldn’t be surprised to play you guys 3 times this year.

Good luck (except for next time….:)
