Everyone is predicting.....what's the skins record this season? Stats of the stars?
Everyone is making predictions this year for the Skins......we hear the "pros" saying 8-8, 6-10, 9-7, etc......what's your opinion? How bout taking it a little futrther and predict some stats for some of our stars. Who will hit some major milestones?
I am saying we go 10-6....make the wild-card w/ the Eagles having the division. I know the Giants are good but I think they are ready to topple. I still think they will have a strong season....8-8. I see the Eagles as the real test in the division....I know Westbrook is banged up but they now have Shady backing him up....they have a new great receiving threat in Maclin....and as much as I hate him...you can never count McNabb out! I see the Eagles at 11-5......with the Boys bringing up the rear at 6-10.
As for breakout performances......
JC will have 3800+ yards passing and 28 TDs....thats right
Portis will get 1200 yards and 12 TDs
Santana will break 1000
Malcom Kelly/Devin Thomas.....one will get 700 yards and 10 tds...the other 350 yards and 3 TDs
ARE will throw 2 TD passes
Cooley will catch 60 with 8 TDs
Orakpo gets 10+ sacks....70+ tackles
Fletcher gets a Pro Bowl nod finally
D Hall gets 7 picks (2 for TDs)
Both DEs will get 8+ sacks (4+ for each starting DT)
Landry will have 6 picks and kill 2 people with hits (just kidding....Carson Palmer crack)
I don't know if those are really breakout performances.....but these are my predictions....I think a lot will hinge on the health of Portis. If he goes down early....alot of this is out the window. We can't afford to lose the threat of his running but especially his blocking. There are not many RB's I see that block half as well as Portis.
Now.....let's hear from you.....what do you think....anything you want to blast me on????

28 tds from JC will put us in the SB, but that is an increase of 15 tds from last year. I would love to see it!

I agree.....
I know it is over double what he had last year…..but this preseason has shown Zorn’s commitment to the deep ball. I think he has realized he has a deep ball QB, some deep receivers, and is willing to adjust his offense. Again, I still feel this is all hinging on Portis staying healthy. It prolly won’t work w/out him……I don’t see Betts, Cartwright, or Mason commanding the respect from defenses needed for this to work!

Now that Malcolm Kelly is, officially, the #2 receiver, I think he’ll be more motivated to succeed. He was motivated in the preseason and worked hard to earn that title, but I feel like if he didn’t get it, he might have worked less knowing that he wouldn’t get the job, maybe until next year. To me he’s the one most likely to have a breakout year. The reason I don’t see Orakpo as having a breakout year is because the expectations are already there and he has, so far, shown he can live up to them. He’s already expected to be BEAST and therefore he doesn’t need a whole year to show it.

So you believe there is more expectation on Orakpo than Kelly or even Thomas? They both sucked up paychecks for a year already and have yet to do anything to really help us. I feel if Kelly and Thomas fail….more than likely JC and Zorn fail…..and JC and Zorn are out of a job. If Orakpo fails….they chalk it up to learning 2 positions but nobody is getting fired bc of it. One of those receivers has to perform this year…..this is truly a make or break for them. Orakpo has already done more than Gholston for the Jets which is whom he was compared to! I also feel like the buzz has been the same for both Kelly and Orakpo, which I also feel puts them on the same level for a breakout year. You need to remember….Orakpo doesn’t have a single NFL stat yet! Just my opinion.

That didn’t make sense….did it? HAHA. It was late….I just re-read it…..my point was supposed to be that Kelly and Thomas I think carry higher expectations this season, but even though Orakpo has “shown” himself to be the real deal…..he doesn’t have an NFL stat yet. I would put them on the same level even though the consequences are ridiculously out of wack!

Fair enough
I guess you could put them in the same boat but when someone says “breakout year” it implies (to me) that they already have a year, or more in the case of Campbell, where they haven’t proved themselves. This is Orakpo’s first year, so he doesn’t have to break out of any hole he’s dug himself into. Does that make any sense?

I agree……and I think your opinion is probably the more common. I have just always hated the money and respect rookies get w/out ever taking a regular season snap…..I take em’ down a few pegs. HAHA!!! I am anxious for this game to start!!!! I would love to see Orakpo obliterate Manning and Jacobs. I would like to see Laron make up for that steam rolling he got last year too by Jacobs!
