"I'm An Off The Field Genius": Fred Smoot Talks to Homer McFanboy

Brian Murphy spoke with Smoot yesterday and Freddie did not disappoint.

Among the highlights:

On his future career possibilities:

"I want to be a G.M. of a major franchise."

On training camp:

"I could do this until I'm 40. I'm one of those people that they're going to have to run away from here."

On this team's chances this year:

"The sky's the limit."

On fans at training camp:

"...as a cornerback, we don't really like the fans out here. They like to ‘Ooooh’ and ‘Aaaah’ about every little catch a receiver makes, so we’d rather be out here where only the camera can tell the story."

Check out Brian's full write up here.

I went to some motivational speaking thing at Redskins Park last night

and Jerry Gray, our d-backs quote actually said Smoot had emerged as a leader this year. He said the same about Laron Landry, the only difference being that Landry is obviously a little less vocal.

Smoot needs to step up

I think Smoot needs to step up and be a leader on this defense because all the attention will be on DE Albert Haynesworth.
