Things have shaken out some since late July on the Skins roster
VA-Skin posted his perspective on the 53 man roster including a depth chart -http://www.hogshaven.com/2009/7/24/961073/53.
The field goal kicker has not been challenged in the preseason games.
The Skins showed their own depth chart. VA-Skin's depth chart is in agreement for the 1st stringers and little has changed except for #2 QB and maybe Marko Mitchell making the 53 man roster. At least Marko has some boosters.
Anyone willing to come up with at least a new 2nd stringer list based on open practices and preseason games?

I'll update mine after this next preseason game
But right now:
1) Colt is obviously, at best, the # 3.
2) Rock looks in.
3) Alridge looks out.
4) Mason and Dorsey are maybes if we go with 4 RBs.
5) Cody Glenn looks like a practice squad candidate.
RAK EM UP!
I'm gonna
pick an upset and say Mitchell moves AHEAD of D. Thomas.
I also think Wynn gets cut.
And, beating a dead horse here, I know, but I wish they’d have an honest competition for #2 RB.
odds are
against it, but don’t be surprised. I won’t.
Sooner or later work ethic and drive win out over pure talent. If Thomas doesn’t start proving he has the first two, the last one will be reserved for the scout team.
Where did these questions about Thomas' work ethic come from?
I’ve seen nothing on it, other than speculation on here based on him making fun of Smoot and Hall and vice versa. And that Kelly has had a better two preseason games (slightly), but don’t read too much into that. Malcom has 5 catches and Devin has two, big deal.
I HAVE read that he has shown great improvements in the offseason and has been staying late with Campbell to get timing right.
I've been wondering the same
I love the fact that MM is poised to probably make the team. But, we need to see him against a 1st string defense before the hype takes over.
RAK EM UP!
Forgot Marko's stats
He’s caught 3 passes (one more than DT), for 18 yards (one fewer than DT). But has a TD against inferior defense.
DT and MK have 9.5 yrds/rec. MM has 7.
This is still all based on 2 preseason games, so it’s pointless to analyze completely. But for people complaining about lack of production, DT is right on par.
I may have
overstated it a bit. I didn’t mean to sound like he was some dirt bag. But you have to admit that he SHOULD be head and shoulders above Mitchell AND Kelly at this point, after playing last year. But he isn’t. As it stands now, I’d say the #2 job is Kelly’s to lose (and JFK’s, er, 1067 the *FAN*’s beat reporter said the same thing today on Lavar’ show), while Mitchell just seems to catch everything thrown his way. Furthermore, it’s not as much of what Thomas has or hasn’t done as what MM has. The DB’s seem to talk about Mitchell more than any of the other guys, and that’s telling in of itself. The fact that Portis praises him, yet won’t TALK to him says something as well.
As for Thomas, he seems to act like he’s “already arrived.” With his blogs, or tweets, and his clowning around. I don’t mind that type of behavior, but I feel like you should earn it.
Anyway, I actually hope that I’m making something out of nothing. It’s evident that Thomas is more talented than Mitchell, so obviously I’d rather see him get on the field more.
I think they're tied.
Neither Kelly or Thomas has done enough to distinguish themselves as the #2 (we’ll keep Randel El at slot). Kelly has had a decent preseason, and that’s great. But it’s only two games. Three weeks ago, Thomas was still looking like a star in training camp.
all true
I’m just going off of what I’ve heard from the various beat reporters. None of us common folk know for sure.
However, I still maintain that Thomas SHOULD BE ahead of Kelly at this point after playing last year. And he’s clearly not. Not just with his catches, but his route running, and mistakes. That INT last week was as much Thomas’ fault as Collins, if not moreso.
Odd's could be 50/50 after tonight
if Thomas fails to produce more than 15 yards tonight and MM gets another td with a strong supporting performance the odds could be alot closer than we think. But I doubt that anyone will talk about it from the team until Thomas is given the entire preseason and a game or two of the regular to prove that he’s worth something.
much like
with Marcus Mason, I’d like to see Mitchell go against 1st teamers. Obviously it’s easier with a receiver, so that cold happen. However, if it doesn’t, I think that shows that this isn’t even a discussion within the staff.
