this doesn't
surprise me. Although I thought Brennan would put up a better fight, I still expected Collins to be #2. I think the normal way it works is the #2 is the one depended on to enter a game in a sometimes hostile situation, but always stressful. Obviously Todd is more suited for this. What I thought would happen was, if JC went down for an extended period, that Colt would come in and play those games, after practicing a full week with the starters. Apparently the coaches have lost some confidence in him, so this doesn’t seem likely even if he does make the team.

Of course they've lost confidence in him
You’ve seen how he’s been playing, right?
But I never saw him as a perceived long-term substitute for JC. They would have put Todd Collins in there, the same way the Titans put Kerry Collins in last year/ this year.

Why do you think we would go with Colt/Chase if JC went down? I think we are going to be in a lot of low scoring games and limiting mistakes by using TC is the best oprion. A pick 6 from Colt would cost us the game. Todd is not the playmaker that the young guys are, but he will read a defense well and take what is given to him. Not to mention that going to Colt and he plays poorly, Zorn will be fired. I can see turning to the young guys once we are knocked out or if we are fading and need a spark.

Sorry, I
wasn’t clear. I’m not saying I’d do that now. I meant that I assumed Colt would take a step forward. Zorn talked about his improvement, and said he was vying for the #2 job. I figured if he was GOOD ENOUGH to win #2, then he would be able to start if JC went down. It’s obvious that this isn’t the case.

Point taken
Although as much as I would have liked to see a younger, cheaper player step up and be worthy of #2, I wasn’t holding my breath

I wonder what the chances are that Chase would not be picked up if we tried to practice squad him
That would at least buy the team some time. I bet it is at least 50-50 he would not get picked up by someone else.

So...
this means that Colt is going to be the starter now, right? I just never expect JC to be bumped all the way down to #3.

Last year I saw an authentic Colt jersey at a Redskins game
$200+ for Colt effin Brenan.
I hope to see the same for Chase this year.

I like QBs who don’t have a fanatical and irrational following.
