OK, here's something that's not getting enough play around here with everything else going on. The DEFENSE. I think we're pretty much all in agreement that it should be one of the best in the league this year. But I think that notion has caused us to shortchange it a little in discussion. I mean, realistically, if the defense plays to most of our expectations, there's a good possibility that we could ride it to the SB with Randle El at QB. (uh-oh, hope I didn't open a can of worms on that one)
Now, with all the talk (and deservedly so) of Big Al, and B-Rak transforming us from good to great, one guy not getting any type on here is Greg Blache. What do you guys think if him, and the job he's done/doing? Personally, he's really grown on me. I love to hear his comments. That no nonsense, lay it all out mentality is refreshing. The guy is about as old school as you can get. And, as witty as he is in front of the mic, he's not an attention hog. I say this because of the last 2 D-coordinators we had here. Don't get me wrong, I liked Williams and Lewis as well, but all I ever heard was how they were defensive genius'. Now I know this is the media saying this, but you can't tell me they didn't buy into it. And I'm not even saying they didn't deserve the moniker. I just like the fact that Blache goes about his business and lets the players get all the credit. He wants to see his players get the accolades, yet he's not interested in the limelight at all. Does anyone else see it this way, or am I just overly enamored with a gruff old coot?
