I wanna get a jump on this before "Chase for President" signs start surfacing. Don't get caught up in that performance and think the guy is Canton bound. All it showed was that the guy is not scared of the big lights. Most rookie 3rd stringers are gonna look good if they're not nervous about playing with the big boys. That's because they don't have much responsibility, so they can just go out and play loose. Just like Colt last year. Now it looks like Colt has taken a step back, when in reality the coaches have more confidence in him by actually giving him some offense to run.
Now, as for Chase - I'm sorry, the guy is too short. He can't see downfield unless he drops 10 yards back. That will make it easier for the defense to figure us out. If he's close to the line, it's a short pass. If he's dropping back, he's looking deep. I know that's oversimplifying it, but that's pretty much the crux of the whole thing. Sure, you have your Doug Flutie's, but for the most part sub-6ft QB's seriously hamper what you want to do.
I liked Chase's moxie, he reminded me a lot of Colt last year. I'd like to see him put on the practice squad. But he should not make the team over Colt, or even Todd.
