OK, for all you Brennanites out there who think Colt should be our starter day one, I've got something for you to chew on. First of all, I think anyone on here can readily admit that Colt will NOT be the day 1 starter. Whether or not he moves ahead of Collins remains to be seen. But here's something you haven't thought about.
Most Colt-Cult members despise JC, right? Well, let me open your eyes to something. Colt NEEDS Campbell to succeed. At least he does if he ever wants to PLAY for the Redskins. Think about it. If Campbell falters this year, he's gone, right? So does anyone really believe that lil' Danny would just turn the reins over to his surfer-dude 6th round pick? Not a chance - he'll go searching for the biggest name out there. Furthermore, if JC does falter, that means Zorn is gone too, which means Colt loses his rabbi. No chance Dannyboy hitches his wagon to a QB that nobody at ESPN thinks anything of.
Now, I know what you're thinking. What if JC gets yanked, then Colt comes in and leads us to the playoffs. VERY IMPROBABLE. Right now Zorn is tied so tight to Campbell that if JC sneezes Zorny farts. He's not gonna bench him over a few spotty performances. The only way Campbell gets benched (barring injury), is if he's just downright awful. Now, say what you want about Campbell, but he's never been completely inept out there. Not on his own. The only way for that to happen is if the O-line proves to be completely worthless. And if that's the case, then Brennan ain't gonna be much better. Nobody will.
So, it seems to me that Colt's best chance is if Campbell plays well enough to garner a contract, and he and Zorny stick around. Which means Colt stays as well. THEN if JC falters, or gets hurt, Colt can step in and maybe prove he's worthy of the starting job.
Now, all that said, keep in mind I am saying this for the benefit of the tunnel visioned Brennanites. I would like to see Colt succeed eventually, but for the time being I want to see JC do well.
Also, keep in mind, this entire post is contingent on the GREAT COLT BRENNAN beating out little chase daniel for the 3rd QB job. According to Zorn, that's not a given.
