First Steps Being Taken to Bring Redskins Back into D.C.??
Reportedly, team officials have been in "intense and private discussions" with officials in the District about building a large playing and practice facility in the city where RFK currently sits.

110,000 capacity "practice" facility....riiight
Snyder is the ultimate sales guy…if he wants it, he’ll get it done.

That would be amazing,
he would definitely try to one up Jerry Jones.

Imagine the costs for fans of this place
Parking: $225….$450 for Primetime games
Metro: 2nd exit will be added that taxes each rider another $5…“Redskins Charge”
Jumbotron: 45 cent fee for every second you look at the largest HD screen in the world.
Beers: $14.50

Make that beer price the cost per ounce, and you’re onto something.

I would LOVE THIS.
God, I miss RFK.
One of my favorite things about driving to RFK from 395 was all the honking horns in the Pennsylvania Avenue underpass. (Kind of like post game “Let’s go Caps” honking in tunnels that lead to 395)
Of course, facilities-wise, RFK is a dump compared to FedEx but it was so much easier to get to. The Metro is right there and there was paid parking near the stadium with kickass tailgating (at least DC United tailgating kinda gives you a feel for what it was like). I guess they’ll have to do something interesting parking-wise if they’re really going to have a 110k seat stadium.

yeah, but it
was OUR dump. Meaning the fans. Fedex belongs to the corporate blowhards who hide in the plush leather seats of the club section when it’s raining. I’d take the TRUE-fan friendly feel, and earthquake effect of RFK over the Landover “Hotel California” any day.

Any new stadium is going to be corporatized
Skyboxes are where all the revenue is.

I watched a show last night on like Discovery or something on the new Boss Hog Dome out in Dallas and its just rediculous. I’m pretty sure Jurry is bankrupt and there is no way they are going to sell that place out.

i heard it is sold out now...not sure if thats true
some cowboys fan told me that. which probably means it’s like fedex. lower and uppers are sold out but not club or the boxes

Everyone who works in DC would have to call in sick
whenever Monday night or Thursday night games are on… traffic would be even worse than it already is

I disagree
one of the great things about RFK was how easy it was to take the Metro to the game. I’d love to see the Skins back in DC. RalJon is an awful location.
Plus, I think it would drastically reduce the number of fans from opposing teams. Do you know what would happen to a CowGal fan forced to share a Metro car with a bunch of hyped up (and drunk) Skins fans?
D.C. is where the team belongs.

I am all for it
as long as the damn tv screens are of a reasonable size.
Fed Ex could be a great stadium if they changed a few things, namely the mini-jumbotrons and the parking situation.

Mentioned this to my friend,
he was wondering who would be paying for this new stadium. Anyone know?
by travisjh86 on Aug 17, 2009 4:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Snyder
The way it usually works, the owner pays for the stadium (Pollin did for the Verizon center and JKC for Fedex), the city for everything else. Not sure if the infrastruccure of sewage would need to be re-done on the RFK site since this would be a 110K stadium…not 50K. Guess it’s complicated. The Lerners somehow got the DC taxpayers to front almost the whole bill for the Nats stadium…and the tax payers aren’t seeing anything back.
