Around SBN: Tiger Woods Makes His 2012 PGA Tour Debut

Even though it’s incredibly early to do this, here are my ridiculously specific picks:

9/13 @ Giants – W (surprise season-opening victory; Orakpo has a sack; Campbell throws for 2 TDs; Portis over 100)

9/20 Rams – W (not a surprise at all; Rams stink again; Portis over 100)

9/27 @ Lions – W (ditto; Stafford plays awful and our Dline in the backfield all day; Portis over 100)

10/4 Bucs – L (Bucs are better than expected under their boy-genius coach; this is a close, maybe a Cooley or Portis fumble late)

10/11 Panthers – L (Panthers are good this year, but we play them close and lose at the end on a long field goal; Portis just under 100)

10/18 @ Chiefs – L (tough place to play; Cassel turning out to be the real deal; we don’t show up and get blasted)

10/26 Eagles – W (Eagles turning out to be most overrated team during the offseason; still can’t stop the run;Portis over 100, Betts over 75)

11/08 @ Falcons – L (we start slow coming off the bye; Ryan, having a great second year, tears apart our secondary; DL has a bad day; Campbell two picks – QB controversy officially begins here; Portis injured late)

11/15 Broncos – L (Campbell struggles; QB controversy continues; Portis starts but is shut down)

11/22 Cowboys – L (full blown QB controversy; Campbell pulled late for Brennan, who struggles mightily; Romo puts up big numbers; Portis shut down early, pulled and sulks on the bench for the entire second half)

11/29 @ Eagles – W (following Brennan’s terrible performance, Campbell starts and has a big game, throws for 2 TDs and rushes for one; Betts starts, goes over 100)

12/6 Saints – L (Portis back, over 100; Saints steal it at the end, a couple big plays from Brees)

12/13 @ Raiders – W (long flight but Raiders still stink; Campbell has big day; Portis doesn’t hit 100 but only bc it’s a blowout and he sits most of second half)

12/21 Giants – W (Campbell continues to play well; OLine dominates, Portis over 100; smashmouth win, team finding its identity beginning to think playoffs)

12/27 Cowboys – W (continued dominance; Romo struggles against our Dline; Portis over 100; big day for either Thomas or Kelly)

1/3 @ Chargers – W (we control our destiny and show up big time against the Norv-led Bolts; Portis over 100, Campbell 2 TDs, one to Fred “Sleepy” Davis)

9-7 and we sneak in on the wildcard over the Giants.

while I can’t necessarily say I agree with it, I do like it for the details you put in it.

Yea, Skins schedule seems harder reading it this way

I think it’s extremely optimistic to say we sweep the Giants. I thought we’d surprise the Giants week 1 (I just scored tix to that game!!)…but hearing that Campbell won’t get a lot of reps pre-season really concerns me. I don’t think we’ll lose to the Bucs and Panthers…we’ll win one of those 2.

What can I say, Kevin?

I’m an optimistic person….in fact, aren’t we all since we continue to root for the Redskins?

Haha

You’re the most negative person I know! haha. Joe Theismann predicted the Skins will win the NFC East and be in the Super Bowl. Why can’t you be that delusional optimistic?

I think the Skins will be at LEAST 9-7…more likely 10-6. Skins just always seem to fall apart against the NFC East at home. Drives me nuts.

No way that we lose to the Bucs, the dude isn’t a boy genius… Management has pretty much more or less admitted its a one year deal to save money and go after one of the big fish next year…

you're predicting another fairy tale end to the season eh?

except this time it’s not being led by our backup qb
if we go into bye week at 4-3 i’ll be slightly dissapointed and if we come out of the bye week with 3 straight losses i seriously doubt our team could turn things around with that hard of a schedule down the stretch

we sweep the giants and eagles and split with the cowboys?
I don’t see us sweeping either of them, i’d say it’s more likely to split with all (and if we do sweep a team it’ll be the cowboys)
loss against bucs and broncos?
come on man, ha
what makes you think that the bucs and broncos can beat us? what about the broncos defense makes you think they’ll shut down portis?

It's way early, and a lot can happen

between now and the first game, not to mention the 9th game….but of course I’m predicting the fairy tale ending. I think that the team continues to struggle this year but ultimately finds its identity and makes the playoffs, setting the stage for overpaying Campbell in the offseason and making at least two other dumb moves that actually retard the progress made this season.

Eagles’ defense will not be what is was (RIP Jim Johnson) and their offense is containable. I also think, for some reason, that the Giants will struggle this year; I cannot support this feeling with any facts. As for the Bucs and Broncs, I think those will be games a la the Rams game last year where there’s a funny bounce or two and we more or less beat ourselves.

We definitely arent going to go 0-4 vs. NFC South

What do you mean when you say the Eagles "STILL" can't stop the run?

Please explain.

Because I’m seeing that the Eagles gave up 92.2 yards per game, which was good for 4th in the NFL last year.

But maybe your numbers are different…

Other than that, love the sweeps of the Eagles and Giants. Excellent work!

The KC game is a home game for us, it is not in Arrowhead. That is a Redskins win for sure. The TB game is a win too, I could not even tell you who is on that team anymore…Brooks and June were cut…who is their QB again? I don’t like going to the West Coast for OAK and SD, they will be tough games even with OAK not being very good still. The Broncos at home should not be a very tough game….they didn’t shut down anyone last year and with a new qb and coach, we should win that one. We split with NYG and PHI, and maybe sweep Dallas.
Still looks like 9-7 or maybe even 10-6 to me. Oh, I also think we matchup against the Saints better than most teams. They have a very weak D that we can run on all day and our coverage will be pretty tight. I would be worried if that game was in the dome were they could use their speed better, but it in Washington, and Brooks will not shank another punt to Bush for a TD this year.

Sorry about that

KC is home; Carolina is away. That changes everything. KC is now a win, in my book.

Bucs starting QB is likely Redskin-killer Byron Leftwich…but they are having a wide-open competition between him, Luke McCown, and rookie Josh Freeman.

Re-do the whole thing.

by JimmyK on Jul 29, 2009 4:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Bucs have played us tough...

… the past few times we have played them, too. Different team entirely, of course, but I agree that Leftwich makes me nervous after the Pitt game. Doubtful we get swept by the NFC South tho, I think the defenses in that division are not nearly tough enough to challenge the BEast as the class of the NFC.

Just remember

you guys lost to the rams last year. I don’t see how you lose to the chiefs but sweep the giants and eagles

(btw, I’m a giants fan)
