Am I the only Skins fan that wants Campbell out?
I have been a skins fan for as long as I remember. We have had our fair share of not winning. This can,t be blamed on certain players or coaches. I have seen alot of QB's some good, some real good' and other's not so good. I just can't seem to understand JC. I really don't like his playing style. He has this cocky attitude that he knows he was a great in Auburn and can do it in the pro's I think we need a shoot out with him and Colt or even Daniels they just got from Missouri. Jc. has had three years to show his stuff and I just haven't seen none of it yet.

What about Jason Campbell seems cocky to you? Everytime I read something about him, or listen to an interview he’s VERY humble. If anything, people WANT him to show some passion and get heated during games and practices, which is exactly what he has been doing so far. As far as Colt goes, Zorn has said it himself, he’s raw. He’s still trying to get him to fix his footwork, and adjust his throw. What he did in Hawaii doesn’t fly in the WCO and it needs to be worked on, and that takes TIME!

It’s the way he get’s out there and plays. He seems too shakey and not sure of himself. He tries to THREAD THE NEEDLE when he can’t do it.

I wouldn’t be too sure of myself either if my boss told me tomorrow that the way that I’ve been doing things for the past year is being thrown out, and we’re switching to a new system. It takes a while to get used to something like that. But I’ll be damned if I don’t try my hardest, which is where I think you see him “threading the needle.” Although if he did that more often, he would have had a lot more picks.
And I don’t think he can’t do it necessarily, he just tries to do it to the same two receivers (Tana and Cooley) when they’re double and triple teamed because he didn’t have anyone else to throw to that he trusted to get the job done.

JC definitely has some mechanics and technique issues to work out. Zorn, being an ex-QB, should be able to push JC to the max. He actually made decent progress last year. His red zone stats are still sub-par, obviously. But let’s give JC his last contract year to show/prove that he can be our franchise QB. He has definitely earned that.
P.S. I was so disappointed when I went to your Amazing Grass website and it was a landscaping business. It’s a nice website though.

When I said cocky it may have been all too harsh. I just hope in his last contracted year that he can show us all that he was worth that draft pick. I want to believe, I really do.
p.s. I do know what you meant by being disappointed by the Amazing Grass website HAHA

Whatever Rekka...
Bernie Kosar threw sidearm his whole career.. and was one of the best qb’s of his era.
I am so tired of hearing the technique garbage from people. Technique is overrated. Brennan is a natural passer with amazing accuracy. And unlike JC, he is smart enough to learn the offense.
I guarantee when Colt gets his shot… he is gonna prove to be great. Redskins fans better hope it isn’t with another team, when he leaves Washington, because he is tired of waiting for an opportunity.

you’re entitled to your opinion, but the fact of the matter is, no matter what anyone says, he’s under center this coming season. and if he doesn’t do it, then everyone here, including me, knows he’s out. then they’ll get the next guy in here. whether it be you’re man Colt, or some other dude they draft next april. and please, I’d like to see where it says that Colt knew the playbook better than jc did so if you got the link, pass it over.
Colt is not Bernie, he’s going to need technique to get that ball out of his hand quicker when he’s staring at the NFC East’s front 7

technique is not overrated
Technique plays a big role in a quarterback’s game. For example, the way the ball is released. Donovan McNabb’s release is low, causing lots of pass deflections. Sidearm delivery leads to balls thrown with less “touch” and requires more arm and energy to throw deep. And if technique is so unimportant, i guess it is okay to have bad footwork which leads to inaccurate passes.
JC has not played in the same offense for more than two years in a row, including college. Can you learn 300 new plays and reads every year?
Colt Brennan played in a Shotgun every play, pass happy offense in which he threw many short passes that were caught and ran in for TD’s; his big numbers were made from after the catch plays. Many quarterbacks who play in that kind of offense do not succeed in the NFL.

Campbell is a bum..
I agree with you . I can’t wait until we have a new qb . I am so tired of watching JC lose games. he plays tentative, and he is VERY inaccurate passing the ball downfield. He is only good for short passes and check downs.

yeah... ok
do you have stats vs. rest of league QBs downfield passes??… downfield passes are rare and much harder against great D’s like that of the NFC East!!
That’s like saying Clinton is only good for first down runs… come on, its kind of meaningless
the guy is probably one of the most accurate passers i’ve seen- now, his decision making could be questioned- but that improves with time and a consistent offensive scheme!

nope. there are a lot of fickle fans like you.
Campbell ain’t going to the HOF, but if you think he’s one of the Redskins top 5 problems you’re crazy.
5 bigger problems, off the top of my head:
1. O-line talent
2. O-line youth/depth
3. WR talent (beyond Santana who is at best a questionable #1)
4. Whether Zorn should actually be a head coach
5. defensive passrush/pressure/turnovers

Exactly
You hit the nail on the head, while JC isn’t going to be a HOF QB he also isn’t the biggest problem. I’m a lot more frustrated with the Owner and Front Office then I am JC.

I like where the team is headed...
and I think you will see a much more potent offense with JC leading the helm this year!!
I haven’t seen any solid evidence to really make a push for Brennan to even make a jump to second string (he is lucky if he stays @ backup this year)- let alone starter? That would be a MAJOR step-back for this team’s mentality.

No, You're Not The Only One
I have a few friends that want to see JC benched for Colt.
But then, those friends are casual fans who don’t really pay close attention to the Skins or the NFL in general.
We stick with JC for this season. If he stinks it out, or the team is out of contention early… Don’t worry your pretty little head — we’ll be seeing some Colt by game 16.

it's just
funny how everyone falls in love with the backup QB who leads a few drives in the preseason. I remember hearing the same things about Cary Conklin that I hear about Colt. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Colt. But we have no idea what he can do against actual competition, so slow down on anointing him before you get your wish and then you’ll be begging for his ouster after his 1st 3 interception game.
Campbell is entrenched. This is his make or break year. If we start REALLY tanking, then i say give Colt a shot. But we can win with Campbell, and he’s near the bottom of our worries.

Campbell
I hate jason’s playing style. I think it’s pathetic that the receivers get blamed for being inadequate, too smal, don’t get open yada yada when you have a QB is literally afriad to not throw it to the checkdown not matter the down or distance. Nonetheless Jason Campbell is our QB for this season, and I wish him the best of luck and think he will do a fine job. It may be stupid but I hope Colt eventually ends up our QB. But I’m a skins fan, and that entails supporting the QB, and I wholly support Jason Campbell and think he will have a great season.

What I don't get
is why Jason Campbell has to be bad for Colt Brennan to be good. Or vice versa. Why can’t they BOTH be good? I hate using these cliche’s, but I really think Colt has that “IT” factor that makes a winner. Campbell, on the other hand, has the size, athletic ability, and arm strength to be very good. I would like to see them both turn out good, giving us a valuable trade commodity in the near future.
We’ve had some pretty talented back up QB’s here in the past. Pro Bowlers (Trent Green), SuperBowl QB’s (Stan Humphries), and solid #2/fringe starters (Frerotte/ Rosenfels). The problem is, the only one we got anything for was Humphries, and that was a century ago. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a valuable trade asset on our BENCH? I think so.
Oh, and one more thing about playing Colt. Here are some clips from an article out of the Washingtonian a few years back. It details the history of Redskin QB’s.
One thing the history of Redskins quarterbacks shows is that you can’t rush them. The failures—Norm Snead, Gary Beban, Heath Shuler—were all weighted down with unreasonable expectations and rushed into action before they were ready. – Washingtonian.com , Oct. ’06
The Redskins greats—Jurgensen, Kilmer, Theismann, Williams, Rypien—all watched the game from the bench before their periods of glory arrived. – Washingtonian.com, Oct. ’06
