accurate if only basing an assessment on past performance

I expected a delusional post about how the Eagles are the greatest team ever despite having never won a Super Bowl (I had to get at least 1 dig in) but what I really found was comments that are accurate based on past performance. The key words being ‘based on past performance’.

His comment about the work load the Redskins have put on Portis is undeniable.

The answer to the question “Question – What happens when you only draft 2 offensive linemen (Guard Chad Rinehart and Guard Kili Lefotu) in 5 years (since 2005)?” was actually pretty kind. Granted with Samuels and Jansen at tackles they didn’t need tackles for a couple of those years but only drafting 2 linemen in 5 years – that’s crazy. Maybe the personnel folks don’t know that you need at least 5 linemen for every play on offense.

He’s also right about the weak receiver corps. After Moss and Cooley it looks very grim unless someone can step up.

The only comment that might be suspect is the comment about the cornerbacks because a total lack of a pass rush leaves the cornerbacks exposed too long. It’s possible the CB’s are ok if they only have to cover people for a reasonable amount of time.

One thing that wasn’t addressed was the possibility of players developing and maturing. If the some of the backup linemen can step up and take over as starters then the age would drop very quickly. If 1 or 2 of the receivers step up to become a #2 receiver (allowing Randle El to be effective as a #3 WR) then the passing game could be much better.

Basing everything on past performance it looks like it could be a tough year but I think there’s good reason for some optimism as well, especially with the offensive players gaining a better understanding of the offense.

Cowboys Take on 2009 Iggles

I was working on a Redskins take on the 2009 Eagles, but it looks like a Cowgirl beat me to it. I thought he gave a pretty fair assessment, but in true Philly style, they can dish it out, but not take it. Definitely Rec’d.

CHECK IT OUT.

RAK EM UP!
