James Thrash Released by Redskins

via www.blogcdn.com

UPDATE 7:00PM: Redskins sign Marko Mitchell as twittered by Matt Terl. I like how things are moving along!

This is certainly bitter sweet news, but it is probably the best for his health and the team. James Thrash was just released by the Redskins for failing his physical, as twittered by Matt Terl. James embodied the hard-working professional we'd love to see every Redskin encompass. Thanks for the memories James, and we wish you the best.

What do you think he’ll be up to now? maybe a coach?

by travisjh86 on Jun 12, 2009 12:17 PM EDT reply actions

he needs to make a decision

He might still think he can play and can workout with another team.

Thanks for all the hard work James

he was a great utility player for us.

I’ll be supremely happy if one of our young guys steps up in his place.

Zorn
“I talked with James and we agreed that this was the best way to proceed,” Redskins Head Coach Jim Zorn said. “James can focus on getting healthy and we can move forward. James is a true Redskin and a fan favorite. He was great player, teammate and team leader. Though we had to make this decision, we are confident that James will be involved in some capacity within the Redskins organization.”

Good quote.

I hope he does stay involved.

Excellent Quote from Zorn!

It’s just
…Time to move forward which in no way minimizes the dedication and commitment the Redskins recieved from Thrash, Good luck!

Best wishes indeed.

Like you said, it’s bittersweet news.

James Thrash

It’s sad to see him go because he was a class act. I want to wish him well. I know it sucks when you can’t go out on your terms. I hope he goes on and retires because I don’t want to see him get really messed up. Now one of these young bucks need to step up and become a legit threat.

I'm with RedskinCali63

Thank god because he was expensive, getting older, and didn’t add anything we didn’t have to the offense – but he was a great Redskin in terms of character, and I will never forget his touchdown against the Cowboys – good memories with this guy

after Orapko they

drafted Special Teams players…I figured Thrash was out..
I hope he is healthy… good luck if he decides he wants to catch on somewhere else

Sounds like the surgery he would need to have to keep playing is somewhat complicated, and the rehab even moreso. Definitely would be good to have Thrash as some sort of character coach, though… He had good hands, really, and simply worked. I wonder what sort of impact he had on Kelly and Thomas. That would be sort of an interesting follow-up question to them at some future interview opportunity…
