Well, what about a RB-Marcus Mason (yes, that one)
Look who's been claimed..
So the Redskins, most who have been critical of allowing the RB to be signed by Baltimore, resigned Marcus Mason
Rich Tandler's Real Redskins have the highlights
The Washington Redskins have claimed running back Marcus Mason off of waivers.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that they were awarded running back Marcus Mason off waivers from the New York Jets.
Mason was in training camp with the Redskins last year before being waived and signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. After eight weeks there, the Jets inked Mason to their active roster, where he would spend seven weeks before being waived. Mason was inactive for all six of his games with the Jets.
The 5-foot-9, 218-pound Mason led all National Football League players in rushing in the 2008 preseason with 317 yards on 66 carries. A native of Potomac, Md., Mason also attended training camp with Washington in 2007 after a two-year, All-American career at Youngstown State. The 24-year-old is a graduate of Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, Md.
So the local boy after spending time in Baltimore and New York has come home and back to Washington. While not a position filled in the draft but Identified by some as an area of need they should be satisifed with the claim of the Preseason leading rusher now being on the Redskins again. All Redskin haters who cried about Mason being allowed to be claimed last year should now repent, sometimes good things come to those who wait...Welcome back Mason HTTR

Edgerrin James
This is whom we should sign. I know there is a lot of you that will not like this at first but think about what he would bring to the team. Great blocker second only to CP for Jason and can run a little too. He is not going to get a starting job anywhere in the NFL so he needs to look at taking a secondary roll on a team. IMO he would be a better back in the west coast than Betts.

yeah, lets see if Tiki barber wants to come out of retirement too. Maybe give Shawn Alexander a third chance.
The Edge is dull, we need an O-line and WR threats before plugging in RBs

James
All I am saying here is that Edge can come in as our 3rd down back and be more affective than Betts. He took care of Peyton for ten years and has great hand I am sure he will make Jason better in the west coast. This is a back we can get a great deal on and he can bring a lot of exp with him. I don’t want to give him a 5 year $50,000,000 deal but I think he can make us better.
Long Live Jason!

Edge
would still probably be an upgrade over Betts. If Betts only has 2 years on his contract, signing Edge for 2 years could be an improvement. Edge went to the U just like CP.
Rotowire is reporting that: “The Saints, Chiefs, Seahawks and Buccaneers appear to have the most interest in James, ESPN.com reports.”
Curry, Orakpo, or the top 4 OLs... or back.

I know.....
but you bring up a good point with CP and Edge in the back field they would try to one up each other all year long that’s what guy’s from the U do.
Long Live Jason!

Mason
I liked the kid when he played for us those preseason games, he was a hard runner. people said that he had a tendency to fumble, but I think that’s something that can be corrected.

My plan for Mason
Cut Rock Cartright (He’s a good guy and all but we need a RB that can break the big run) Mason whould assume kickoff and punt return duty bc ARE sucks at those.

I thought Rock did a decent job
last year. We almost always started past the 20. But, he will probably be less effective with the league’s “Wedge Rule” change:
On kickoffs, no blocking wedge of more than two players will be allowed. A 15-yard penalty will go to a violating team.
I agree on ARE. He secured the ball well (I don’t think he had any turnovers on punt returns), but he had little to no production. Maybe Alridge or Dorsey will pan out.

How do you make a wedge of two players?

I don't think you can
but you canhave a blocker with you up the field.

My point exactly.
This is poorly worded. Couldn’t they say ‘no more than 2 players may block in unison, in any formation’? Something that is logical or something. They had months/years to get the wording right.

have you ever noticed
that the NFL doesn’t distribute their rules book and no one can get one, they just write whatever the hell they want, probably drunk

Most of the NFL rules don’t make sense. Remember that play where Rock “downed” the ball at the 1 but in the process rolled over it into the end zone?
I poured through every football rulebook I could find and there was zilch in there describing how that play could have possibly been a touchback. Yet here we stand…

Aldrige and the other guy who are kickoff/punt return specialists.

Skins should trade some draft picks
and get TJ Duckett back in here
by KevinE on Apr 29, 2009 9:07 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
+1 for sure
Redskins just waste draft picks on LB, CB, WR, TE, and well anything other than an offensive lineman.
With all the punters and kickers selected in this draft are the respective teams calling for the “head” of the GM or VP? A pick should never be used on a kicker/punter…
Thought: Using a pick on a punter with 10 picks, is that better or worse than using a pick on a punter with only 4 picks(see Saints)…but then the Saints do not have as many holes as the Redskins…The Redskins NEED at least 12 positions filled to be a succesful team.

Let's just trade
some high picks for linemen…no…lets re-sign the Hogs of old!

Washington is lucky to get him back
He was an animal last preseason who made big plays. Now the Skins can drop Betts and get younger with Mason.
