Skins Schedule Prediction
The Skins schedule will be released at 7pm tonight. As a process of elimination I have a pretty good guess who the Skins will face week 1.
- The Skins faced the Giants on the road last year in the opener and the NFL usually likes the Skins at home week 1 because of our stadium. So I dont think it will be a road game. We also wont face the Giants because we played last year.
7 possible games left
- The Skins faced a AFC team at home (Dolphins) 2 years ago in the opener. So I dont think we will face another AFC team week 1.
5 possible games left
- I got a feeling the Cowboys will be on the road at Denver week 1 after reading several reports. I also think we will face the Cowboys to open their new stadium week 2 on SNF. So we wont face the Cowboys week 1.
4 possible games left
- I dont think it will be the Eagles in DC because we faced a NFC East team last year (Giants)
3 possible games left
Out of those 3 (Bucs, Saints, Rams). We faced the Bucs to start off the 2004 season. So take off the Bucs.
That leaves the Saints and Rams. The NFL would want the game that will draw the most fans between these two teams. The Rams upset us in DC last year and I cant wait to get revenge. At the sametime the Rams suck. Im going to go out on a limb and say.....
Our first game of the season will be Saints at Redskins (1pm) then we go to Dallas to kick off their new stadium on SNF.
I know this is all guesswork and nothing more. I did get the Dolphins right two years ago and almost got the Skins game right last year ( I thought the Giants would face the Cowboys for the ratings in the opening Thursday game).
So who do you think the Skins will play week 1?

Nice evaluation.
The Rams should be praying it’s not the Skins week 1…with Haynesworth in the middle, Fedex should have multiple ambulances ready for Bulger and Trent Green.

I want to destroy the Rams. That loss in DC last year might of been the worst loss ive seen in the regular season since ive been watching the Skins.
(Boller is the backup in St. Louis now)

yuck. via Matt Mosley's NFC East blog on ESPN:
As expected, we’re starting to see some “leaks” from the NFL schedule announcement, which is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET. The Star-Ledger’s Mike Garafolo is reporting that the Giants will host the Redskins on Sunday, Sept. 13 in a 4:15 p.m. ET start. Dallas Morning News media columnist Barry Horn is predicting the Cowboys will open their new stadium in a game against the Giants the following weekend in a Sunday night game on NBC. Garafolo has heard the same thing.

Well damn this makes me look stupid lol. I cant believe we will face the Giants again week 1. Im trying to think the last time the Skins have had back to back openers against the same team. Ive been watching the Skins since 1996 and we havent had that since ive been watching. Im gonna go look it up.

The 1992 and 1993 seasons. In 1992 we faced the Cowboys at Texas Stadium. In 1993 we faced the Cowboys at RFK Stadium.

1956 -1957
The last time we faced the same team two straight years in openers on the road was the 1956-1957 seasons. We played the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As of this moment...
with Spags, Plax, Ward and Toomer gone, we have a good shot at making a statement to these guys. I keep hearing rumors that the Midgets will land Braylon ‘Butterfingers’ Edwards. At the very least, we will get a test / gauge of where we are as a team.
