Vinny and this years draft

Last year I was stoked when we traded down from 21 got two 2nd round picks to go with the one we already had and still landed Devin Thomas. Then I was perplexed when we selected Fred Davis and Malcolm Kelly with our next two second round picks. I know some people liked the moves but I was pretty upset. We didnt need another TE and Kelly had several reports about his bad knees.

The 25th of this month the Skins will be back on the clock and im kinda nervous that the Skins might screw this pick up. Id love for the Skins to draft Oher, Andre Smith, Orakpo, Everette Brown, or trade down and get more picks. I wouldnt mind the Skins drafting a LB like Maualuga or Cushing at 13 but id rather trade down.

There are several players that would upset me if the Skins drafted them at 13. Players like Sanchez, Moreno, Britton, Ayers, and Matthews would really upset me if we took them at 13. I think Britton and Ayers are solid players but just not worth the 13 pick. If I had to pick one player though id be really upset if we drafted would be Aaron Maybin. I just think the guy is a complete bust waiting to happen.

What player(s) would you hate to see in the Burgundy & Gold come April 25th?

Moreno

for one… I’d be ok with Wells, Cushing, or one of the several OTs that will go in the first round. MAYBE a DE.

As much as Zorn and JC are on the hot seat...

I think VINNY should be on the hot seat first. If he screws up 2 drafts in a row, then by Snyder’s patience, Vinny should be fired. The franchise improved with Gibbs and Gregg Williams making the picks, seems now we’re going backwards.

Burning a 2nd round pick on a TE that will never see time and going against your scouts’ recommendations and selecting Kelly baffles me.

Mark Sanchez.

Unless Campbell has a season/career-ending injury in the next 2 weeks, I think picking Sanchez @ 13 would be a complete waste. That being said, I really hope he is there at 13 so that we can potentially trade back.

I don’t think Denver would pass on Sanchez (especially with Neckbeard as their present starter). But the Broncos may still be open to trading with us since they now also have the 18th pick and at 12/13 they could possibly get Sanchez and Maualuga or Jackson to help in their transition to a 3-4.

Other teams below us that might be willing to trade up for Sanchez are NYJ (17), TB (19), Minnesota (22), and possibly Detroit (20). Tampa Bay can’t think ‘Man-wich’ is their future and the Vikings know that Sage Rosenfels is too injury prone. I mentioned Detroit as a possibility because if they hopefully do the smart thing and draft LT # 1, then they may be looking to trade up for Sanchez.

Was a consideration but now...not so much

Early in the pre-draft season I agreed with the “other” teams

Other teams below us that might be willing to trade up for Sanchez are NYJ (17), TB (19), Minnesota (22), and possibly Detroit (20). Tampa Bay

But with the addition of Rosenfels to MN and Leftiwhich to Tampa, I don’t see either of these teams making a play for a QB in the first round. It would surprise me if Tampa went for a QB at all, since they currently have 4 QBs on the Roster.
I still really like the Detriot take, a solid OL at #1 and a QB at 13 by trading up #20 and #33, Detroit does not have a lot of day two picks so they may not wish to trade.
Which leaves it down to NY-HOPE!

Leftwich signing

I read a good observation, can’t remember where now, about the Leftwich signing. Well it does seem to take Tampa out of consideration for drafting Sanchez or Freeman, the deal may only be a smokescreen (and/or insurance). The deal was $2 million, 1-year contract with no reported guaranteed money. So they could still draft, or trade-up and draft, a QB and release him again (if my understanding is right). Of course if someone else get him first, they’ve signed Leftwich before other teams could.
