Can we get CONTRIBUTORS in the draft please??
I think A. Smith, Oher, Orakpu, or Malauga would all be good choices at #13. I'd rather see us trade back, and another pick or two, and pick up a Michael Johnson or Tyson Smith. All of these are viable decisions, HOWEVER, the best thing we can do in the draft is pick guys who will contribute. Enough of this cutting our draft picks before they're given time to develop (Robert McCune, Dallas Sartz, etc etc.). We need to draft guys who will have an impact, and KEEP them. Best bet. Therefor, I think we should have our own 'Spygate' scandal, and have someone videotape the Ravens pre-draft meetings.

Well, that is always the plan...
Then they oversleep or show up to camp hurt. I think we can cross Orakpo off the charts b/c almost every mock draft has him top 8, most top 5, and some even 3 to the Chiefs…I know I’d take him that high if I was the Browns at #5. Maualuga seems to be 50/50 split among the mocks…I really like him over Andre Smith if both are available…what better way than to groom a LB then under London Fletcher?

I think
we have more pressing immediate needs than MLB, at OLB, OL, and maybe RB, but I also think that if we’re lucky enough to see Maualuga fall to us, we shouldn’t let him get away. I think the guy’s going to be a beast.

Anybody
have any thoughts on Brian Cushing? They say he’s a top performer in almost every drill he was in, and he’s versatile enough to play LB or DE…

Tweener
Should probably play for a 3-4 team.

Contributors in the Draft
If the Washington Redskins trade out of the 13th spot to pickup more picks, then I’m not sure contribution will occur in the first year.
The money which is paid to the first round picks, is at an expected immediate contribution to the team. After that it’s a crap shoot, and depends on the player.
Everyone can pull 2nd, 3rd, and even 7th rounders who contribute immediatly to the team but it’s less of a guarantee the true success of a draft is the evaluation after 2 to 3 years in the NFL.
THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS need contribution from the draft class of 2008 this year 2009!

To be honest
I’m not excited about trading down. Look what happened with 3 #2s last year. I’d rather get a stud than a bunch of players who can be good in a couple of years.

now vs. later
Draft 13th pick and get impact player now vs. trading for extra draft picks and grooming them later….
Sorry, but I’ve been a Skin fan for a long time. I like Campbell, Portis, Moss and the O-line people. I’d like to see them win a Super Bowl in a Skins uniform. There’s not much time left for them. I’d like to see them win for us too! We tend to win about every 10-15 years, cept for the 80s. But it’s due time, I’d say….

Hate to say it...
but money will probably be a factor here. The Skins are under the cap (for now) but they can’t afford to spend a lot of a “glamor” position (LT, QB, etc.) at #13 and still expect to sign the rest of their picks.
I’m always for trading down… but only when there’s a plan. They need to have a target they can get 5-10 picks later if they plan on trading down.
Smith is a monster… but his suspension for the bowl game and his leaving the combine scare me a bit. If Malauga could play SLB until the middle spot opens up, I’d be for it. I don’t see that as a fit.
Oh, and if you’re going to spy… I’d spy on New England or KC (really just Pioli) before Baltimore. Except for LB. Then I’d totally steal Baltimore’s ratings.
Yes, I am a nerd.
