Why not Cutler?

What do we really have to hang onto when it comes to Campbell? Is he or can he lead us to the promised land? God, I hope so, but my gut and what I've seen says no. Cutler may be turnover prone, but who isn't?

So which comes first? Are we going to be screaming because Jason has won us a Super Bowl or are we going to be screaming for his head? I'll let you answer that.

Are we saying "Please don't trade Jason" simply because we don't want to emulate Snyder and just keep changing things? What's really going to change? Are we going to be better? Probably. Are we going to be worse? Not a chance.

So I say go for it. We literally have nothing to lose.

I'm a fan either way, and I always will be. It's my curse.

JC

This is my last year hoping JC comes around. It is his third year as a starter and is typically the big growth year. I think we are going to give him and Zorn one more year, then make a change if needed. Plus I think we traded picks with DEN to draft JC, so it could be a bad PR move for them. If we do get Cutler, when do we start talking about getting Shanahan as our coach?

Why not Jay Cutler?

Two words: Jason Campbell.

How about two more words: Draft picks.

Finally, two more words: team stability.

So which comes first? Are we going to be screaming because Jason has won us a Super Bowl or are we going to be screaming for his head? I’ll let you answer that.

He’s going into his second year in a new offense, and he had a pretty damned decent first half of last year. I doubt that we’re going to win the Super Bowl with Campbell, but it’s not because of him — we’ve got very serious issues elsewhere. Heck, if Trent Freaking Dilfer can win a Super Bowl, then you’d better bet that Jason Campbell can.

Hmmm…. methinks it’s time for a FanPost.

Why Cutler?

Why not Ryan, Flacco, Manning, McNabb…because Cutler wants to be traded out of Denver.

Campbell is the Redskins QB, Campbell has the ability to lead the team and this is the first time he’s running the same offense as he ran the previous year. Let’s give the man the opportunity to do his job, if he does it well this year then he will be well paid, if not…?

In 2005, The Redskins didn’t draft Alex Smith he was the top(#1 selection) QB chosen, they didn’t draft Aaron Rodgers t(2nd QB taken) they drafted Jason Campbell, he will be provided 4 years to become the Redskins QB or not.
So…WHY TRADE!

by dr WNC on Mar 19, 2009 12:40 PM EDT reply actions

That's a good point...

the Niners gave up on Alex Smith sooner than we did, and Aaron Rodgers got like 15 years on the bench to learn from Brett Favre and learn his offense.

Idiot.

This s needs to go away, so spineless punks like CSGOLF can shut their peanut brains off from trying to formulate a relevant post. Let me further note that i am so glad the Redskins dont listen to fans. CSGOLF is probably the guy (claiming to be that girl) on Redskins Nation always asking for Colt Brennan because he has gay love for him. He’s a racist turd sandwich. He doesnt like having a black QB regardless of what he can/will do. Trash.

lol

Why don’t you learn to respond to people by explaining why you don’t want cutler and why campbell is the man instead of attacking them?

OK.

I have already explained to you, numerous times, why JC deserves your patience. if you cant understand that, maybe you need to learn to read. i only attack at people i think are too stupid to get the point the first time, ie. you. i dont know why you keep dragging this out. Cutler wont/cant come here and that is final. We can go back and forth, but i have my whole life ahead of me to argue with you…..

Ok

can’t we end this Cutler talk in that we dont have the draft picks to get him here anyway. Our #13 and Campbell is not enough..even if it was …. bringing a new QB with ZERO 1st day draft picks is gonna set us back. It’ll take at least a year for Cutler to gel w/ our system and players. IF, and this is just an if, Campbell bombs this year, THEN lets talk Cutler.

ps – i’m hammered now so if this makes no sense dont murder me, but it does at that time. I’ll be online sober tomorrow AM.

Hmmm.....

working 4 days a week DOES have its advantages, but I didn’t go out tonight, personally — I’ve been working on my car all evening. Now that you mention it, I might have a little Jack on the rocks…

That's nice

Very relevant points. I’m glad there are guys like you that can make such profound statements and make me really think about the opinions that I form. I’m also estounded that I am rooting for the same team as you.

It goes against every fiber of my being to respond to those that are unable to spell out their words and take that extra little pinky movement on the keyboard to capitalize their I’s. And I’m the idiot…

Honestly dude

Why cant we just comment back and forth on each other’s opinions? Taking shots at each other is pointless. I have not commented on this fanpost for awhile hoping it’d die but its not… TheThurgodMarshl, seriously, we’re all on the same team and have opinions to make the Skins better….two days of barrage is kind of enough even after the other people threw the white flags.

that takes the fun out of it.

i dont just want white flags… i want them drenched in blood.

McDaniels said:

“Other teams have called but we’re not interested in getting draft picks for Jay.” The Broncos have 9 draft picks (1 before us). Our draft picks wouldn’t necessarily have to be part of the trade.
The problem with waiting to see IF Campbell might bomb this year is that Cutler (or anyone else of his caliber) probably won’t be available next year. God forbid Campbell gets hurt in the beginning of the season, then this Jason Campbell love-fest / idiot parade will still be going on.
Cutler could probably “gel” with our system pretty well since he played the WCO in Denver for 3 years. The WCO is all about finding space, zone routes, man-zone reads, short drops, timing, etc.

BUT, I do also see that Zorn and Cutler are both hard-headed, which means that if they don’t find success right out of the gate, we may have our own coach/qb controversy.

Rumorville...

I’m thinking I should start a Colt Brennan and 1st round pick for Cutler trade rumor and see how far I can get it to go.

by Kevin Ewoldt on Mar 20, 2009 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Hey!

I just heard that Dan Snyder traded Jason Campbell, Colt Brennan, Santana Moss and Albert Haynesworth AND this year’s and next year’s first round draft picks for Jay Cutler and Anquan Boldin!

Shanahan's offense

is actually quite a bit like ours, in that it’s nominally a West Coast system but it’s more predicated on an effective rushing game. Not Gibbs’ “Midwest Coast” power running game, but more of a shifty, stretch offense like CP loves. With the possible exception of Chris Samuels, we don’t have the right type of linemen to run a scheme like that — Gibbs and Buges like big, strong, dominating earthmovers up front, while the Shanahan system (much like Atlanta’s) requires smaller, faster, more athletic linemen.
