Heath Shuler Gets Pwned by Congress (fanhouse)
Shuler has been vocally against the stimulus plan, blasting Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid for not being bipartisan. That prompted Harry Reid spokesman Jim Manley to mockingly offer this: "Let me get this straight - this is coming from a guy who threw more than twice as many interceptions than touchdowns?"

Well, it’s not a clean cut-down…but I took it as: “If he threw double the errors as he did successes in football, then why trust what he is throwing out now?”
The fact that Reid’s spokesman had Shuler’s pickle rate in mind (Congressman don’t know shit about Sports)…that tells me Heath is not well-liked on the Hill.

Well,
I think it’s pretty common knowledge that he was a ginormous draft bust. (Not quite Ryan Leaf, but still)
It would seem that the newly-confident Reid and Pelosi (fresh off of electoral victories which largely were achieved DESPITE them) aren’t afraid to lord over their respective houses of Congress with an iron fist. If Shuler’s not well-liked, it’s probably because he’s a Blue Dog Democrat and doesn’t fit the ideological profile of a Nancy Pelosi Democrat.
There may also be some resentment that Shuler is publicly criticizing the leadership, rather than kissing their ring. He’s only in his 2nd term, after all.
