Jason Campbell is a Class Act

Just found these quotes from JC and this is why he is the guy we should build our team around;

Campbell was particularly adept on third downs. He completed 6-of-8 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. All six of his completions resulted in a first down or a touchdown.

“A lot of it was receivers being in the right place at the right time,” Campbell said. “That offensive line did a great job of picking up their stunts and blitzes, giving me an opportunity to see downfield. It was totally a group effort.”

After everything this organization put him through in the offseason, Zorn benching him in week 6, no contract offers from the FO and after having the best game of his career he chalks it up as a TEAM EFFORT. Football is the ultimate TEAM sport and Jason Campbell is a TEAM Player. Special treatment of individuals on a team destroys the team mentality *Cough Mr. Snyder Cough* sign him to a modest extention before the end of the season and cut the prima donna's and don't bring in any new ones.

This why I have been supporting Jason Campbell all year long ..........

He may not be a Rah Rah guy .. but he is more of a leader than Tony Romo is !! Look at all the boneheaded moves Romo makes even when he knows the media is watching him.( Mexico trip and now the Las Vegas trip etc etc etc. I like the underdog with potential and JC 17 had it all along some of you just did not see it or want to see it !!! He has even supported Jim Zorn after Zorn has thrown him under the Bus in mutiple interviews !!

Campbell is a true leader he leads by example to bad our head coach could not have done the samething. Zorn could have took the constructive criticisim and learned from it like Campbell did and worked harder. But Zorn took it and blamed everyone but himself by saying it was all Poor “execution” and not poor coaching.

by LETJASONPASS on Dec 8, 2009 3:05 PM EST reply actions

Right

What a shame he throws interceptions at the WORST possible point in games.

He is improving… but he is far from being a Super Bowl QB. Even with our top 5 defense supporting him. He reminds me of Trent Dilfer when he was in Baltimore… just younger…

Yaeh… TRENT DILFER

by williamhudsonlink on Dec 8, 2009 4:00 PM EST up reply actions

yea

nevermind that Laron got beat on the double move, again, or that Kareem Moore doesn’t know how to secure the football, or that Sellers fumbled, or that we called a stretch run play to the left in the redzone.

nah, JC lost us this game. Nobody else. Just because he put us in a position to win doesn’t mean he gets to make mistakes although everybody else on the team did. He HAS to handle his responsibilities even though nobody else does.

The only thing

Campbell should have been doing at that point in the game is kneeling down to run the clock out.

But our kicker couldn’t make the 24 yarder.

by DCtoAustralia on Dec 11, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions

DC, But to some people it will always be Jason's fault no matter what.

I am still trying to figure it out. They always say JC 17 played a good game but.. I always know after the but comes the blame Jason game.

by LETJASONPASS on Dec 11, 2009 9:36 PM EST up reply actions

At some point

it is execution. You can call any play you like, but if the players can’t get it done it’s a waste. If Jason is getting sacked he’s not completing a pass – isn’t this what you have been saying all along. I don’t get what you are saying about Zorn hanging everything on Jason. I must not be at the same press conference.

Scott let me say this one more time !!!!

Do you not remember when we ran Portis left on the Goal line like 4 times in a row !!! The whole world knew the play. But Zorn said it was execution !!! LOL We had so many times this year were we had bad play calling / selection and that is all on JIM ZORN !!!

by skinsfan28 on Dec 8, 2009 3:43 PM EST reply actions

I also saw him say somewhere

I just tried to find it quickly but couldnt, but I think it Wash Post

That we should not be blaming Suisham for the loss as we all made mistakes that contributed…

There is no doubt that Jason is a classy guy and a good leader and a solid QB

That is why I am so torn, because now it is 3 weeks in a row, that regardless of what had happened earlier in the game, Jason had the ball with a couple of minutes to go and chance to drive for the win, and it wasnt just that he failed to pull it off all 3 times, it is that all 3 times you just knew he wouldnt, and twice he threw picks.

Now LJP is going to go and ‘Cntrl C’ some 2 paragraph defense of JC17 from his database as soon I write this, but again it will be because he is not reading what is written

I am for keeping JC and at the same time I am not against getting someone else, I think he has many good qualitys, but in a League that with the two minute warning and timeouts is almost designed to encourage last minute comebacks, that is the one area where Jason is sadly lacking

Pommylee

by Pommylee on Dec 8, 2009 7:22 PM EST reply actions

Pomm you did not watch the game did you ???

The Field goal that we missed should have been the game winning drive !!! That would have put us up by two scores !! How about when we got the ball in OT I guess Mike Sellers fumbling the ball was JC 17’s fault ??? How about L. Landry giving up two long tochdowns !!!

by LETJASONPASS on Dec 9, 2009 6:03 AM EST up reply actions

again that is not the point

Before you go and copy tracts from your database into a post take a moment, breathe, relax and read what is written,

Regardless of the Suisham miss, and what happened in overtime, here is a fact

Washington got the ball with the game tied, with a 1:38 or so remaining and all 3 timeouts and only needed to get into FG range to win the game, (whilst ackowledging that FG range is unguessable when your guy just cost you the game missing a 23yard attempt)

And at no stage did I and I am guessing you beleive that Jason would drive the 50 yards neccesary, and he validated my lack of beleif by throwing a pick. The second one he has thrown in that situation in 3 weeks, these are FACTS LJP< indisputable FACTS<

Now should he have been in that postion,…NO

SHould Suisham have made the kick before that drive making it unneccesary ABSOLUTELYbut were we in the situation where JC could drive for the win inside the 2 minute warning, YES

This is the issue, it does not say he is a terrible QB, I have made the point repeatedly that he is a top 15 QB in this league in my opinion and is capable of a long and successful careeer, and if we keep him I will not be at all disapointed because I respect his leadership and his talent.

BUT

Being a QB in the NFL is about being clutch at the end of games, and Vince Young, Peyton Manning (who I despise and find overrated by the way) Ben Rothlesiberger and Tom Brady, find way to get the job done in these situations and for Jason this remains a part of his game that is woefully underdeveloped.

Do I hope he can improve, YES,
Do I think he can improve, YES
Do I beleive he will ever be a big time clutch, last two minute, game winning drive master in the mould of Favre (another Overrated QB who I despise) or Elway, not a chance

Did Tom Brady get the job done...

against this sames Saints D the week earlier? Or did he throw 2 picks, one on the last drive…hold it down, LJP!!!!

Hey, for some reason when JC 17 has a good game ..

most in here find something that he could have done better. Why we are talking about JC 17 and Landry or talking about the Offensive line playing better I do not know. Hey, but JC haters will always hate. Even those that do not hate will never complety give him credit.

by LETJASONPASS on Dec 11, 2009 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

Those two picks your talking about weren't entirely JC's fault.

In the Dallas game the pass was tipped and with the Saints he was hit as he was throwing the Davis. But still in both of those games had those field goals been made we would have won.

by BrandonO on Dec 9, 2009 7:04 PM EST up reply actions

Brando the sad thing about what you are saying is after the game in each case I said the

same thing you are saying !! Some people just don’t get it. Jason has a great game and they still find a way to point the finger at JC 17. The same people that wanted Cutler or Sanchez ?? LOL Some people in here forget what they said a couple of months ago. They went from wanting Zorn to go to wanting him to stay? From calling Sherm a bingo caller to saying he is doing a good job. But they say team is playing better because of JIM ZORN ? This is hillarious JIM ZORN is the reason for the team playing better ??What in the H- -ll or they smoking ??

some people as in you?

MIKE HOLMGREN IS THE KEY !!!!!!!!!!
We need our own consultant like Bill Parcells !!! Mike H. is the man for the job !!!! If he can help turn Zorn and Blache around then keep them !!! If he can not then at the end of the year hire Holmgren as head coach or Shanahan !!! Zorn was not ready to become a head coach he needs a tutor !!!!

hmm lets look at that for a sec bring in a consultant (sherm) Check. Turn around the team (we’re playing a heck of alot better) Check. Keep Zorn and Blache (UhOh wait what?? did I say that????)

Thanks for looking that up really shows how smart I am ........

I said bring in a consultant not a play caller !! I was glad that Sherm came to call plays when he got here. But I thought they would have allowed Zorn to do his job or fire him. The consultant would not have been another ( OC/Playcaller) Sherm Lewis. He would have not been doing Zorns job for him like Sherm Lewis has .

Good call on this one too, benching Carter is a sure fire way to get rid of all those pesky sacks he’s been getting, he must be too strong to do his job right…

Man we should all listen to you because your right all the time, how about this, don’t just point out problems with in the organization, try coupling them with solutions. For instance don’t say Zorn is a pansy head coach he needs to go without giving a viable option of who we could bring in to replace him and if you want Shanahan that means we keep Vinny, your boy JC is gone because Shanahan won’t argue with Vinny/Dan because Shanahan will want to look for a new qb to mold into his offense, Sherman Lewis prob gets the boot too and we start from square 1

Can you answer a question? Did Rock not say that he went to Danny (special teams coach) and asked for his job back?? Did he not basicily make sugestions that Portis should come back and get his 160 yards and retire ?? This sounds kind of self serving for Rock. Yea, he wants Portis to come back and get his 10,000 yard mark and leave so he can play !!! LOL

Scott this is getting a little ridiculous. If you are going to be skeptical of anything I say or do. It is a waste of time posting with you.. If by watching the Roxk Cartwright video from 12/9 that is posted on the team website you did not see that Rock is a hater you need to open your eyes man.

Zorn's record as a head coach is not subjective.

The difference in 3rd down sucess is not subjective..Sherm Lewis 50% on 3rd down // Jiom Zorn 30% on third down !! That is a huge difference.

Ok, now tell me why you like him so much. give me some non – subjective reasons .

I will type slowly, so maybe you will finally get what I'm saying

IF we continue to improve: I would like to see Zorn and JC17 stay for continuity purposes and because there is NO other HC that I trust to come in and not cause a complete meltdown and basically set us back another 3 years.

The HCs you have mentioned: Shanny (past his time, overrated, and paranoid), Tony Dungee (done with coaching), Holmgren (won’t be hired cuz he will want control) provide NO options for HC that I believe will work.

IF we don’t continue to improve
: Blow it up. Get a new freaking QB, HC, slaughter everyone, I don’t care. It will just mean the beginning of a new decade of futility unless Dan reaches out for a higher power and let’s a new GM/HC/OC combo do the right things. Not holding my breath on that one…

Did Rock not say that he went to Danny (special teams coach) and asked for his job back??

No – not in the 2 videos in which I saw him being interviewed. KRs were never mentioned. Only disappointment that he was not the starting RB and that he will do anything the team asks. I’ll add, he’s probably bitterly disappointed, but like he said, he is a pro.

He did say Portis should come back for his 160 and retire. Maybe a little self-serving, but if everyone agrees, including Dr.s, then I would have little issue with him getting his 10K and retiring. I would have the same sentiments.

He’s not a hater, just disappointed, as anyone who has toiled as the number 3 guy for what 6 years, then gets his shot and has the rug pulled out from under him. Where’s the surprise in that ?

"I told Danny I want to go back to my regular postion"

This is his direct Quote starting at 4 minutes and 9 seconds of the Rock C video dated 12/9 posted on the redskin website. Danny is the specials team coach.

Responding to your other post. I don’t have to reach you just see what you would want to see. Like your watching the same video I did but you claim Rock did not ask Danny for his job back. I am through posting to you. It is a waste of time. I do not mind you twisting and turning my posts to suit your needs. But when you lie about a fact ( Rocks statemen on video) . Shanahan is a better coach than Zorn ....

With Shanahan or Holmgren and the defense that we have we can win a Super Bowl . (if Landry ever steps up or with a healthy Horton) Only Shanahan knows if he will keep JC 17 not you. But we know Portis will be gone for sure if Shanny comes.

by LETJASONPASS on Dec 10, 2009 4:10 PM EST up reply actions

Shanny +> Zorn

No doubt about it – 20 yrs or whatever more experience vs unqualified for the job. Problem: Zorn is most likely to provide success next year IF we continue to improve. Shanny will NOT just come in as a swap for Zorn, He will hire his own coaches, let JC17 go to the highest bidder and we will be in the same position we are in this year all of next year only worse. IMO

Jason Campbell is a Class Act

I agree. Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe Campbell is the best quarterback in the league, but he definitely isn’t the worst. At this point in his career, his experience level should play a big part in his playing ability, however, with different offensive playbooks year after year, it makes it difficult. Honestly, I believe he has all the tools a good quarterback needs, but just hasn’t been given his fair shot. Then again, you also need some help. For 2010 – Keep Jason, draft some OL, dump Randle and pick up a veteran WR. I say Moss should move to the slot somehow. D. Thomas looked good this past weekend.

by ArtMonkizmyhomeboy on Dec 9, 2009 6:55 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

I’m just afraid that he’s not gonna get resigned, go somewhere else with a good FO and coaches and a reliable Oline and he’ll start putting up solid numbers, making us look like fools once again

I agree completely...

It’s like working for a company where you get used to a certain routine and expectations every day and just as you start to learn your position a new boss comes in with a whole new strategy and expectations for you. There is no way you can succeed under that type of instability. Offer Campbell a two year contract, upgrade the line…what can hurt? If Campbell continues to struggle, then we get rid of him and move on. Bulking up the line has never hurt a team.

Agree and disagree

I agree JC is a good QB and that I’d like to see him stay on the team. I disagree that it will happen. I think Snyder has already decided to dump Zorn and JC and use the first round pick to grab a QB.

I think it’s obvious now that Moss is not a truly dominant #1 WR and ARE isn’t a #2 WR so what we had at the beginning of the season was a good #2 WR and a bunch of #3 WRs. In fairness he did have a pro bowl TE too but a TE isn’t a replacement for a WR, they compliment each other.

by aFan4Life on Dec 11, 2009 12:10 PM EST reply actions

I keep hearing this 1st Round QB pick...

Sporting News has us picking up Tony Pike out of Cincinatti and BleacherReport has us getting a Jake Locker. I really don’t understand the need to push Jason Campbell out of DC so quickly.

Mark Rypien, Rich Gannon, Cary Conklin, Heath Shuler, John Friesz, Gus Frerotte, Jeff Hostetler, Trent Green, Brad Johnson, Jeff George, Tony Banks, Shane Matthews, Patrick Ramsey, Danny Wuerffel, Sage Rosenfels, Tim Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell and Jason Campbell.

Thats the list of our starting QB’s since 1993…18 in 17 years. Thats less than 1 year per starter and Campbell, Ramsay, and Brunell claim 6 of those years.

Almost no one at this site

wants to see Jason go as long as the progress we’ve seen so far continues. However, we are not the owners of this version of Madden, which includes an angry owner feature among other detracting features not commonly thought to be good practices for building a football franchise – or reversing its decline.

The majority on this site are not sold on JC 17....

They spent so much time bashing him, asking for Todd, Colt , Sanchez,Cutler etc at the start of the season. I had read every reason in the world why JC sucks and he is the worst QB in the world it was amazing. Now does same people are still luke warm to JC Why now do the same people think Zorn is responsible for the team playing better ?? This question baffles the heck out of me. It seems like the team turned around because Sherm Lewis came in.

It speaks volumes about a Head Coach when a player (Rock Cartwright) said that he was excited that Sherm Lewis would be calling plays. This was prior to his first game calling plays. That speaks volumes about just how much respect a player has for a coach. That is like saying he is excited that his boss lost his job as a OC/playcaller. This is one reason why I do not like Zorn he is not even a good figure head on the team because he does not command respect. But hey, you need to earn respect to get it and in my opinion he has not earned it.

by LETJASONPASS on Dec 11, 2009 5:04 PM EST up reply actions

I just noticed this

And I agree with everything. Great post. Portis was probably our biggest problem on this team. He constantly talks about himself in the third person. He constantly self promotes “Clinton Portis isn’t done… Clinton Portis is the best RB in the league. Well maybe Adrian Peterson is on par with me, but I’m amazing.” -CP

And, you are spot one when you state that Snyder pampered Portis. Man when I think of the RBs who have entered the league since we obtained Portis, it would have been so nice to have a lock down CB like Champ Bailey all these years. We could have picked up a RB anywhere, as they are a dime a dozen these days.
