Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Washington Redskins Player of the Year - 2009

I will post an article with the title being the category up for grabs. I will update the body of the article as we get some more colorful and thoughtful ideas and nominations in the comments section. This is about as interactive as I can work it. Next week, I will pull together as much of it as possible and put out a master list with commentary from Kevin and I as well as selected commentary from all of you.

If you are the first to add a player, offer a brief reason why (it can be anything.) If you already see your guy listed, perhaps respond to that comment with your own reason for that guy getting the title. Also, for each post category, feel free to suggest the worst player or moment...God knows we have had our share of those.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa...happy holidays.

I'll start it off with London

He is an obvious choice. He has played hard all season. What’s more, the level of his play has not dipped when our team went through losing spells. He plays with pride and he certainly represents the Redskins well whenever his name is brought up.

London has been a dissapointment too

As the Captain of the defense he deserves some of the blame for the terrible play against the run and the mental breakdowns.

Just to play devils advocate.

London is a good choice, but....

You have to pick #17 simply for all the drama he’s had to deal with and the physical punishing he’s taken week in and out. He’s not a leader like Fletcher, but maybe I just feel sorry for the guy.

"It was one of those things where everyone in the building was suddenly excited again," Cerrato said. "And all the women in the building were the most excited. They couldn't believe we were getting the guy from "Dancing With the Stars."

As for the worst...

#30. Total let down and he does not learn from his mistakes each week.

Fred Davis

A lot of players have had to step up this season, and none have answered the bell more consistently and when it mattered more than First Down Fred.

Since getting thrown into the fire in week 7 against Philly, Davis has 33 catches for 389 yards and 6 touchdowns. Thats 11.8 yards per catch and a touchdown every 5 catches.

I thought Kevin was crazy when he said Davis was gonna be the player of the year, but he is the only guy that has failed to disappoint me in this disappointing season.

London Fletcher all the way!

What?!, HogsHaven doesnt recogize the Flying Spaghetti Monster in all his glory?!?!

I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

Brian Orapko

He has been solid all year, plays with a ton of heart, should be DROY. Can my vote for worst go to our entire O-Line with a big assist from Vinnie “Dumbass” Cerratto

Orakpo

Despite not be used correctly, Orakpo has still managed to put up amazing stats for a rookie. Imagine if we draft a LB and we can use Orakpo appropriately on the defensive line? The guy is a leader, the future, has just played tremendously this season. I can’t think of anybody else who has played their position as consistently as Orakpo, and the guy is only going to get better.

I will second Orakpo

He is our shining star for the future. For worst, I will nominate Portis. He didn’t bring it at all this year and I’ll be happy with fresh legs next season.

London Fletcher

is the most valuable Redskins player without a doubt..followed by Orakpo, Carter, McIntosh, JC, Moss, Haynesworth for credit towards Carter’s great season…and the not so valuable players are Landry (tackles with his eyes closed and couldn’t wrap up a perfectly squared gift), Haynesworth (how many breathers does his big ass need), O-line as a whole (WTH instead of WTF due to injuries and Heyer specifically WTF), Rodgers (double move/stutter-step=burned), Portis (runs like he weighs 260, where is the burst?), JC (I know your takings hits but if you take 2 seconds to look at the defense instead staring at Rabach’s ass, you might see those DB’s, LB’s creeping up ready to bulldoze your blindside), and the Defense as a whole (can’t claim Top Ten anymore against one of the weaker schedules to start the year).

Fred Davis?

I think he could be for effort but the TE in this scheme is heavily used and stats would be about the same for just about anybody.
