Supposing we do go linemen early and often
in the 2010 draft. I expect Okung to be gone to either the Lions or Chiefs. We could Draft Anthony Davis at #6. He is only a Junior, and is a little raw, but he is prob. the best athelete amongst all the o-linemen in this years draft. I am going to assume we somehow get another 2nd rd pick. With pick #1 in the 2nd we have avaliable Jason Fox, RT from Miami or Selvish Capers, OT from West Virginia. We now have our 2 bookend OT's to build around. Our 2nd pick in Rd #2 could be Mike Iupati, G from Idaho or Vladimir Ducasse, G from UMass. In the 4th we can target a versatile linemen like Dennis Landolt OT/G from Penn State. In the 5th we can get a late rd RB gem(mike Shanahan's speciality). Cory Blount from Oregon could be a good target.
In this scenerio the staff ends up sticking with Campbell as QB.
Our OL could look something like this:
LT - Anthony Davis(R) 6'6" 325 21yrs old
LG - Derrick Dockery 6'6" 326 30 yrs old
C - Casey Rabach 6'4" 295 33 yrs old
RG - Mike Iupati(R) 6'5" 330 22yrs old
RT - Jason Fox(R) 6'6" 305 22 yrs old
Reserves: Heyer, Williams, Reinhardt, Landolt(R)
I've heard peoples opinions about a rookie QB, now lets take a look at having 2 to 3 rookie OL.

Not bad ideas just unlikely to happen
Like most positions, unless the talent is spewing from these lineman, they will take time to develop and some will even be misses. Even first round picks are not guaranteed to make it. That’s what makes Vinny such a dousch bag. He should have been picking at least 1 O lineman every year. Getting this line back to normalcy may take a few years. He threw picks in with almost every deal he made. I’m sure all the other GMs in the league had a hotline setup with each other to scheme Vinny out of draft picks every year, like shooting fish in a barrel or maybe they had a pool setup as to which GM could shake him down for the most draft picks each year.
But your point is interesting because of the simple fact that it looks like EVERY starter on that line may have to be replaced asap.
A lot depends on the combine
But Campbell from UMD is the only other OL projected Top 10. Baluga from Iowa is also rated higher than Davis.
Fox would be a good pick up, but I really think a skill player is going to drop in our laps that we can’t pass up, I’m thinking a Jahvad Best. Someone before mentioned Best’s injury but it just a concussion and I would expect him to bounce back. Also a QB like Snead or Pike would be sitting around in the 2nd.
Actually Davis is rated higher
than both Campbell and Bulaga in almost every nfl circle. He will perform very well at the combine too.
According to who? You?
9 out of 10 mock drafts and big boards that I read have at least 2 or 3 others in front of Davis.
I’m not trying to argue with you and I like I said A LOT DEPENDS ON THE COMBINE, but you can’t say “no actually he’s better” and not have any reasoning or proof.
Is Mel Keiper Jr good enough "reasoning or proof"
He is one of the hottest risers over the last 2 weeks since he declared. I am both involved in, and follow recruiting and scouting very heavily. I’ve followed this kid since he was a sophmore in high school.
I am not trying to argue either. Don’t forget, your the one who “claimed” info that I put up to be wrong, so maybe I should ask what reasoning or proof you have to say Campbell and Bulaga(and maybe you should try spelling his name correctly) are better prospects than Davis. Maybe your counting the 9 out of 10 AMATEUR mock drafts you read.
Here is a quote by Keiper on Anthony Davis:
“I didn’t shift any juniors up or down within their position groups, although Rutgers Scarlet Knights OL Anthony Davis solidified his standing as my No. 1 junior OT with his performance against UCF in the St. Petersburg Bowl.”
Hey guys you ever noticed when a person says " I am not" something that is actually what they are trying to do.
Like when you guys say " I am not trying to argue" …. Hey I am not trying to get a arguement started either. Wink , Wink …. LOL

Haha, I think its up to the second person to not be a prick and carry it on by pointing out spelling mistakes of an unusual last name of an offensive lineman.
I’m not against drafting Davis, all I’m saying is there is a lot of time left. We don’t know who the coach is, blocking scheme is obviously play a factor and so will the combine. But Mel Keiper said Davis dominated a stern UCF pass rush, so he must be the clear choice and their is no other alternative.
maybe you should try spelling his name correctly
Cory Blount from Oregon could be a good target.
Who is Cory Blount? Lagarrette’s cousin? Gotcha bitch
I like it
I can’t see that it would be a worse unit that what we had last night as Williams has slow footwork and Heyer gets out muscled. While it takes time for OL to learn the job, that learning will be accelerated if they’re starting every week and the entire training camp.
Jacksonville's high 2009 draft picks at tackle
seemed to have come around as the season progressed, but the high draft picks can’t be expected to have their ultimate skills. Jacksonville also had the former Eagle LT, Tra Thomas, to help hold down the fort as Monroe got established (Monroe started 11 of 13 games). Eben Britton started 13 of 13 games at right tackle.
Hopefully the Skins could have as much success with rookie offensive linemen.

Good team to look at.
Jacksonville was in a similar boat last year with their OL as we are this year. I agree they did have pretty good success with that young OL.
Not arguing but..
It is possible that a blue chip defensive player drops to us, hopefully Eric Berry ( but doubtful he is around for us) so that we could get LL back into his natural position. If it is O-line with the first, Davis would be an excellent pick. Charles Brown from USC would be great in the 2nd if he is still around, converted TEs often make great tackles. What happened to Levi Jones in your potential lineup?
Would you see what you see what kind of pick you could get for Laron?
Or would you have Horton rotate in regularly? During the offseason the thought of trading 30 was propsterous to me, but now I don’t even think I’d bat an eyelash. Chris Horton has impressed me more with his limited play (won the St. Louis game for us himself IMHO) than Laron has this whole year.
SpotieOtieDopalicious
Brown could be a possibility in the second.
If he could fall to us then we would be lucky. It really depends on how many juniors declare as to where Brown is drafted. As for Levi, he would be a good option as a spot starter or back-up. I wouldn’t want to build around him. I believe if we can re-sign him for cheap, then he’s worth it. I wouldn’t throw the bank at a 30 yr old tackle though.
I had the same thought process
I think he’d make the perfect back up at LT. And we’d actually have decent depth at that position.
SpotieOtieDopalicious
Jason Fox, RT from Miami
Fox is reported to have some sort of injury. Are you familiar with this?
Looks like a trade down scenario
could well be available.
A lot of this will depend on if the ’Skins tender JC or not, and I do expect them to rather than let him walk in an uncapped year.
If we’re picking in the 6 slot we need to see who is above us and who they are likely to take…..
1) St, Louis – I suspect it will be the best QB available. Bulger is getting any younger and their backups have been marginal at best. Not that the Rams don’t have a lot of needs but they should be able to pick who they want. So slot Claussen here for the sake of arguement.
2/3) Tampa Bay/Detroit – I expect one of these will take Suh and the other Okung as they both are for glamor positions that are difficult to fill and I can’t name a guy of that quality in either of these positions on either of these teams.
4) Cleveland – I suspect that they will take the safety Berry here to help with their defense, which can use it.
5) Kansas City – They want to get some help for their newly acquired signal caller, so I expect them to go offense, perhaps RB CJ Spiller from Clemson or Dez Bryant the WR from OKst would be a fit here. KC could also be a prime candidate to trade down or they could go deeper on D with the DT McCoy from Okla as a BPA.
That leaves us in the 6 slot, so if KC picks a BPA or a fit pick and now you could have a board that contains Bradford, Tebow, McCoy, Mallett, Haden all available. I think it would be time to see what the market may bear and trade down. We have so many needs, OT, OG, OLB, CB, QB and maybe even RB snd S if we want to be brutal about it. It would make a certain amount of sense to have more picks to fill more spots. I guess it’s a question that we can fill one position with someone not likely to fail with a high ceiling of success by staying at six. Or by moving down and picking up more picks in the top three rounds this year (or even next year) filling more positions with solid players. I think our age and lack of foundation of young players could mean a trade down if the price is right.
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....

Correction
As Tiller said, these guys are all seniors. It just points out that much of this stuff is just to premature, before combines, juniors declaring for the draft, etc. So at this point much is in speculation.
The Skins should have the 6th pick in the 1st round and the 38th., 134th, 166th, 200th, 232th, and 264th picks respectively in the other rounds unless some other moves occur. I would hope that they would avoid trade ups.
Okung probably won’t be available in the 1st round, but (4, 2) Trent Williams OT Oklahoma [6-5, 318, 1, 5.30] or (15 3) Charles Brown OT Southern Ca [6-5, 292, 1-2, 5.16] should be.
Note:(overall draft pick, offensive lineman pick) and [height, weight, projected round, 40 yard time]
2nd round: (72,12) J.D. Walton, C Baylor, [6-3, 305, 3, 5.19]; (80,13) Mitch Petrus, OG, Arkansas, [6-3, 315, 3-4, 5.09]; or (83,14) Sam Young, OT, Notre Dame, [6-8, 320, 3-4, 5.28] (Go for best available, usually some of the earlier prospects slip down.)
4th. round: (135 24) Eric Olsen C Notre Dame [6-4 305 5 5.26] or
(137 25) Adam Ulatoski OT Texas [6-6, 310, 5, 5.28]
5th. round: (163,27) Sergio Render, OG, Virginia Tech, 6-3, 313, 5-6, 5.26;
(165,28) Chris Hall, C, Texas, [6-4, 298, 5-6, 5.20]; or
(169,29) Mike Tepper, OT, California, [6-6, 322, 6, 5.37]
The last picks can go for the best players at any position. The Skins can raid other teams practice squads for latter round picks or UDFA after the cut downs just like they did with Paul
Fanaika this year and like the Bills did with Meridith (5th round pick). The emphasis should be on depth and project players beyond the 2nd player at each offensive line position of the depth chart.

I like Eric Olsen in the 4th or 5th.
I had forgotton about him. I was originally high on Sam Young from ND, but after watching him more closely, he scares the hell out of me.
Don't Blame Jason - Rebuild the O-Line!
While I can see it is very easy to blame Jason for our troubles; recent and past history show it to be foolish and premature. As recently as the 2008 season shows Jason to be more than competent WHEN PROTECTED. The first 8 games he was sacked 14 times, the record was 6 – 2. The last 8 games he was sacked 24 times, the record was 2 – 6.
Now go back to the last of the "Glory Days", 1991. Mark Rypien was sacked A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES, the record was 14 -2! Very simple equation, PROTECT YOUR QB AND YOU WIN GAMES!
We do not need to start over with a new QB, we need to rebuild the O-Line and protect the QB like the Hogs became famous doing!
While it’s not the "sexy" way to win, we need Snyder, Allen and whom ever becomes the Head Coach (Shanahan probably) to SPEND WISELY on the players that matter, THE O-LINE!
P.S. Bringing Russ Grimm back might be a GREAT Start, too!
