It’s totally different than what I thought here. If they’d let us loose, it’d be a whole lot better. [At Tennessee] I just rushed and they let me go and we won a bunch of games and we was up there in the top two or three on defense and sacks. [Titans defensive coordinator Jim] Schwartz got a head coaching job from it. Maybe we need to try that here." - Albert Haynesworth

WaTimes
This is like Jason Taylor Part 2. Not using players to their strengths. I was blasting Albert during the game for dancing and not pushing forward. It appears he is being told not to push.

With no leader and no hope

The flood gates might open. This team lacks balls and has no soul.

I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

And the DBs are being told

to run around like idiots and whatever you do, don’t tackle. It’s obvious that someone in the D coaching staff is scared shitless to let these guys just go out and wreak havoc.

In not doing so, the O wreaks havoc on us. WTF?

This comment made me laugh.

And then it made me cry.

A double edge sword

Why is Haynesworth a Redskin? Same reason Vinny went and got Taylor:
Coaches coach for a reason…
Because Danny and Vinny wanted him:
I think Haynesworth is a great football player and I am glad he is a Redskin but this again highlights the issue with Danny in charge, not looking at the big picture and making stupid decisions without a plan, just collecting players.
My hope is Bruce Allen sits down and puts together a 3 to 5 year big picture plan. Then takes the actions to achieve that plan.
No Santa Clause wishes, No this guy or that guy concerns. Bruce Allen, build a solid football team based on a system, a firm foundation and scheme which will dominate the NFC east and then win a Superbowl or two.

Blache

Blache said he was going to use Albert to his strengths. It’s clear he’s not. I saw Albert on one play hold the line versus get after the QB.

I’m glad we have players like Albert who don’t keep quiet. He cares and wants to win and is not afraid to expose what is wrong.

By faces alone

Haynesworth, Fletcher, and Campbell were the only ones who looked truly angry about what was going on last night.

As supportive as I was of the DHall signing, I like him less and less every week.

Blache knew who signed his checks

If Snyderrato said, “we’re signing Albert, can you utilize him?” Blache isn’t going to say no.

And this is the problem with the Daniel Snyder Redskins

If a GM, VP, Head Coach or Coordinator cannot say to the owner,
“Haynesworth or whomever is a great player but he really does not fit into our scheme and what we are trying to do with our defense, it would be better to bring in….X player or to draft X type player”
Instead of the owner/VP going out and getting all these “great players” to attempt to build a team…

by dr WNC on Dec 22, 2009 2:00 PM EST up reply actions

I agree

I like Haynesworth. And I guess I’m one of the few people who don’t get pissed when he comes out for a play or two.— I heard an interview where he told the guy "*YOU* try pushing around 700 pounds (he was referring to being double – teamed) and see if YOU don’t get tired. - But it is indicative of this teams way of doing things that he doesn’t “fit.” -Other GOOD teams have a certain “type” of player that they look for, and that’s what they stick with. Like the Colts with their “speed over size” mantra on defense, or the Broncos with their athletic O lines. The good franchises have a “plan”, which is exactly what we’ve NEVER had under Snyder. Hopefully Allen changes that.

by CJHutch on Dec 22, 2009 2:22 PM EST up reply actions

good point though

it’s just a little hard to read.

We do need to focus on a team “identity” (as I’ve heard some analysts call it) which means having a offensive philosophy and a defensive philosophy. Maybe Zorn was trying to do that, I don’t know. All I know is both sides of the ball looked totally inept (the MNF announcers even said they’d never seen such dominance – how sad is that) and ultimately that is on the HC.

Wouldn't be suprised to see EVERY single coach let go after last nights performance.

In a way I’m glad it happened, it really is the culmination of what Vinny put together during his tenure.

I'd settle for $10K

It will be interesting if Zorn even gets hired somewhere as a QB coach now.

by aFan4Life on Dec 22, 2009 1:02 PM EST up reply actions

He will

He has enough credibility built up over the years so that this wont end his football career. Football execs are smart enough to know the situation Jim Zorn was put into.

My money is on him ending up in Cleveland with Holmgren to groom whichever QB gets his name drawn from the hat next season.

by Romans12 on Dec 22, 2009 1:25 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah.

He’ll be Brady Quinn’s tutor next year, I’ll bet.

Don’t believe he’ll get rehired? Look at how Matt Hasselbeck’s fallen apart since Zorn left.

By the way,

Haynesworth might now be my favorite non-Orakpo member of the defensive line. It was impressive the way he stood up for DeAngelo Hall after that asshole Jacobs threw a punch.

Waaay to stand up for your teammate, Albert. And don’t worry, everyone knows that the officials were wrong to not even flag Jacobs.

“Waaay to stand up for your teammate, Albert.” Especially when the game was over by the end of the 1st quarter. Like a penalty is really going to cost you the game. I would have been happier to see a massive brawl then the lackluster effort given by most of the players.

One good thing about the loss last night (and I was there – blech) was that it weakens the Cowboys and Eagles. If we can steal one from the Cowboys that would be sweet.

All the Giants fans were pretty cool last night. I was tailgating and a few were brought by one of our buddies…no one talked to them for the first hour or so, but the guys just came over, introduced themselves, and we all got along. Even in the stadium we all had a good time goofing off and wondering how the Skins could be fumbling and bumbling so bad. Got a video of it?

I missed just about the entire game after the first quarter, stopped caring and stopped watching.

What happened though?

by travisjh86 on Dec 22, 2009 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

I saw it live,

then I saw it after the game on SportsCenter, too, and on SC, they were very adamant that Haynesworth got penalized for nothing, and they pointed out repeatedly that Jacobs threw a punch and got off scott free.

I don’t agree that Painsworth didn’t deserve a penalty, but it’s ridiculous that the refs didn’t do shit to Jacobs.

Just saw a video of it. How did Jacobs not get penalized at all? Even more so the second guy that came in when it was just Hall and Jacobs?

Hilarious that Jacobs was celebrating the fact that him and another threw someone on the ground half their size. I’m so sick of Jacobs, he’s not that good, always complains, bitches and moans, makes excuses for why he’s sucked so bad this year and talks mad shit.

by travisjh86 on Dec 22, 2009 3:44 PM EST up reply actions

Jacobs will get fined for sure...

isn't it funny

that BOTH of the “fights” we’ve had this year started with Hall getting shoved around, and ended with Big Al coming to his defense? The 2 “new guys”, who came from different organizations, know you’re supposed to have your teammates back. Phil Daniels is strong as an ox, and Carter is like one big muscle, yet neither of them are anywhere around when stuff goes down. Landry too. He’s built like an MMA fighter, and loves to lay late hits on unsuspecting players. But when things get real, he’s a ghost. You think if Ed Reed gets jumped by the other team, the rest of the Ravens are gonna sit around and watch? Hell no. Of course, that’s a moot point, cuz other teams don’t pick fights with the Ravens.

Meddlesome owner

Players need to fear/be accountable to the HC for a team to be successful.

If you have a meddlesome owner, players don’t take the coach seriously.

Look at the Giants having success, and the Cowboys and us not having success. The difference is Snyder/Jones are a-holes who want their finger in everything.

by Mex_17 on Dec 22, 2009 11:41 AM EST reply actions

You might be forgetting...

Big Al is still fat, lazy, and out of shape. His performance during their first drive was embarrassing. I watched him come off the field and take a knee after two plays. That is pathetic. I also like the fact that he speaks out, and he is certainly a great player when he plays. Too bad it isnt very often.

its a tiny thing but I think significant

There was one play last night in the 3rd quarter, a wide run (a sweep maybe?) by the Giants and on the replay they showed the angle from behind the play (i.e. Low Camera Giants side of the line) and as the play disintegrates and the Giants runner is pushed out of bounds you can see Albert running over their to help out and i emphasise RUNNING

Now Albert had ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of getting anywhere near the player with the ball, but he still was busting his but in that general direction and running past teammates who had stopped cos, as I said they were never gonna get there anyway, but thats not the point, you should still TRY.

You might not think this is much, but I do, it shows a mindset, an attitude, that I admire.

You will never here me bag Big Al ever, I dont think I ever have, but from this moment on he is one of my favourite redskins.
