Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

I don't think they're naming a coach

In the Press conference at 2:30 there were some very encouraging things said, I will highlight on a few that I found particularly exciting:

On Jon Gruden and replacing Jim Zorn: "We don't have an opening at that position...Jim Zorn is our coach...give us some time to see our relationship develop."

Snyder: Bruce has the authority. When Bruce madkes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

...

Snyder and Allen would not directly address reports about Mike Shanahan being the leading candidate for the head-coaching job; Snyder indicated that a decision about Zorn's future will be made by Allen.

This is Huge we now have a football guy in charge of football operations with what seems to be the full support of the owner!! Has Danny Boy finally gotten it?

Don't let the euphoria...

of having finally gotten rid of Vinny give Allen free pass here Sure the man has GM experience, how would you rate that experience?
Have either the Raiders or the Bucs been successful? This looks to me like another knee-jerk reaction from Dan Snyder.
I’ll stay on the fence for now, but I’m definitely leaning towards the possibility that we’ve just jumped out of the frying pan into the fire.

Both teams made the playoffs under him.

Raiders were 12-4 in 2000. Bucs made the Superbowl.

Radiers made the SB under him as well

If a guy can take an Al Davis team to a Superbowl, then taking a Dan Snyder team there should be simple

we're 4-9

Yes they were both successful when he ran them 5 div titles in 10 years or something? alot better than what we’ve been doing. in either case the point of this post is what Danny boy is saying about the final say being Allen’s not his, that is how good teams run their organizations, Football guys in charge of Football operations

Not to be a cynic

but could also be good PR coordination, like all saying Zorn is still the coach. But in general I am optimistic with a touch of giddiness at the conclusion of the day’s events. It seems an equal chance that my wildest dreams and worst nightmares are possible and I’m trying to be positive that they will do the right thing.

What did Snyder not say?

He didn’t say that he was stepping back and letting Bruce do his job. He said that Bruce had the final decision and that’s all. Yeah, after how many fingerprints were on that decision first?

It is going to take a season or two to see if Snyder has stepped back or not.

Keyword: Final Decision

Lots of people are involved in ALL decisions made in Redskisn park, but the difference now is that (hopefully what they said is true) Snyder doesn’t have the final say, Bruce has the final say.

I’m not going to take a stance in this subject until I see something that makes me believe, but let’s just be happy the Yes man is gone.

I agree

I don’t care who makes the final decision on anything as long as the decision-making process is based on sound information, good football judgment, and consistent with a plan. If this happens and Bruce and Dan come to an agreement, fine, call it Bruce’s decision.

Final decision

Snyder will always have the final say, if he wants it.
