The timing

With Holmgren interviewing in Cleveland, you’ve got to wonder if Holmgren is who Snyder really wants.

WOW!! BEST CHRISTMAS EVERRRR!!!

it's gonna be Holmgren

first it’s weird that Cerrato resigned with only a few weeks left but think about this

-Holmgren said he wanted to work in the NFC East
-Holmgren said he would make his decision by Christmas of where he would go
-Holmgren was close to negotiating a deal with the Browns

I think his agent contacted Snyder and gave him one more chance to bring him on before he signed with the Browns and I think snyder pulled the trigger

I see this falling out as follows:

(PRESUMING A STRONG FINISH TO THE SEASON)

Holmgren = GM/VP Football Ops

HC = Heavily supervised HC

OC = Sherm Lewis who will have complete control of the O

DC = Jerry Gray – I think Blache just wants to retire, no hard feelings. Or, someone else if Holmgren has someone in his pocket he wants there

ST = Danny Smith – unless Holmgren has someone in his pocket he wants there

QB = JC – his strong finish and Zorn’s and Sherm’s recommendations stem the tide of going to the draft for a marquee player, although they will draft a backup to compete with JC and Colt next Spring. The WCO will be modified to suit JC as recent results show huge gains in performance

Holmgren will draft O-linemen, CB, and RB

Gone = Portis, ARE, Rock Cartwright, P. Daniels, R. Wynn (not sure if they are around anymore anyway.

Wow.

Even if this backfires and we don’t get Holmgren… BEST. THING. EVER.

Al Davis approves.

I'm holding my breath here

this could possibly be the best news ever. However the real test will be who replaces him.

Spoilsport.

Can’t we just rejoice in the fact that Cerrato is gone. I know these are famous last words but, really, how much worse can it get?

OMFG Merry Christmas to all

I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left- Barney Gumble

Everyone is saying Holmgren

But didn’t he publicly come out and say he didn’t approve of how Snyderatto handled Zorn this season?

I like the scenario of Holmgren coming in as GM and the coaching staff staying relatively the same. We would be in the same west coast system and there would be some consistency which is a postive. I don’t know much in the way of Holmgren’s skills as a GM though, anyone know?

Shanny, I do not like and do not approve of. He supposedly has a GM already connected to him (don’t remember what they said his name was though), but he’s from this area. So if we the GM tied to Shanny, then Zorn is definitely out and Shanny is in. I don’t see that being a good scenario or one that would last long.

Cower is definitely not coming here, he hates Snyder because he’s Marty’s little boy toy.

Gruden, I hate the idea. Don’t want him and hope he has no way out of his contract with MNF.

Any other options you all see?

Gruden

almost certainly has an out clause for a head coaching job.

He does!

And its not gonna be cowher, holmgren, or shannahan. they all want GM titles….

sorry folks

by ACo on Dec 17, 2009 1:57 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Shannahan has a GM named that will be hired with him, and that man is not Bruce Allen. So definitely no Shannahan.

by travisjh86 on Dec 17, 2009 6:51 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

and Bill hates Danny. There was never a chance that he’d come here especially after how Dan and Marty’s relationship went (Bill is Marty’s protege).

by travisjh86 on Dec 17, 2009 6:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Right now they have the makings of a serious defense and the glimmerings of a real offense. Me, I’d give Zorn his 3rd year to prove he’s a real HC, and if he’s not then I bring in Grimm and really do start from scratch.

I’m not a Gruden fan.

If Shanahan isn't GM then I LOVE him as head coach

FILE - In this Sept. 4, 2009 file photo, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Shaun Hill aims a pass downfield against the San Diego Chargers during the first quarter of an NFL preseason football game in San Diego. Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
