Redskins to Play in London in 2010?
It's looking like it and since the UK is not much further than a West coast flight and the Redskins have a big following there, it would make sense. It would be a road game for the Skins.

I think the NFL in Europe is a failure and has always been a failure
but it had better not be a home game.
Just think of the upgrade
compared to our cheap domestics.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
what's the exchange rate from dollars to pounds?

Less, if we keep expanding the federal debt.

beer
Guiness in Ireland and the UK is so much better than it is here. I’d go if the game happens. How fun would the tailgate be playing beer pong with Guiness beer?
I did that once, with a buddy of mine, in college.
It was to celebrate him running a marathon.

No way you could drink that much Porter, Stout or Ale
And this is coming from a super beer snob

I played with skunked Newcastle once...
I was dry-heaving on the final 2 cups….awful. Not easy since i was on Natty Light the 2 games before.

I'd be full
long before I was drunk. I’d much rather play the beer pong with bourbon. I’m much more interested in the desired effect than I am in being competitive.
you would have to use the Draught not the extra stout. The draught is actually pretty light for how dark it is. I work next to dogfish head in gburg and go there all the time. Are you a fan of their beer?
Actually not a fan of Dogfish Head
Most of their beers are extra-hoppy, which I really don’t like.

I actually
recently had a 5 year old bottle of 120 minute IPA.

I assume you like hoppy?
I’ve never gotten into it

Yup

Hey,
at least it’s not a home game.
It’s a “road game” that’ll be a road game even for the home team.
Plus, it means my 12 year old cousin can see the ‘Skins. He’s big into American football, and especially the Redskins, since they’re the family team.

It would be very suprising if that happened.
Their would be more problems than not if it did. This has been proven over and over by the failure of leagues over the years in europe. Forget the ratings in the U.S. when a game is played, the NFL is more interested in the ratings in Europe. So that’s not the real problem. Coordinating schedules in the states is. The Jetlag/time changes is sure to be huge negatives. We already have teams from the west coast that have a difficult time winning on the east coast, not to mention being drafted by a team in Europe is sure to put more nails in the coffin.
This is all about capitalizing on “global” profits. They best leave this subject alone and concentrate on building existing markets here, some of which are really bad in their own right.
A scenario where a team has jetlag etc. etc. and goes on a 2 game losing streak in the states after losing in europe and blames it on that game is bound to happen. What if that team misses the playoffs by 1 or 2 games? When Europe is ready for football, they’ll start their own successful league, until then so called success will only come by way of force.
How about sending a game Down Under
The magnificent MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) would fill up its 106 000 capacity (In Victoria they would get 50 000 to watch 2 flys race up a wall if no other sport was on that weekend.
The atmosphere would be amazing and I would get to go to the game even if I did have to travel down to Melbourne from Sydney for the game..
Come on HH, spread the word, get a game to Australia!!!
Pommylee
I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Looks like you might have missed the Redskins playing abroad, though. :-\

I'd be happy to see anyone dude
In fact I am seriously considering going on a holiday to the States in the next few years with the main reason for the trip, or the centrepiece if you will, being going to a Redskins Home Game, yeah I’ll check out the Lincoln memorial etc, but I really want to go to a Skins game, and also I wouldnt mind checking out a Nationals game, apparently the views of the City and the Capitol building from the Outfield Bleachers are just amazing
Pommylee
Now THERE'S an idea.
Make a pilgrimage to DC?

I think its worth it
DC is nice and central to the things I wanna see
Short journey to New York.
Even shorter journey to the West Side of Baltimore (I wanna check out the streets from The Wire)
Near a lot of Civil War stuff (I always get sucked in by history stuff)
and more importantly I get to go a RedSkins game, rather than just An NFL game if I went to a different city
Pommylee
Eh.....
I’d advise you to stay far away from Baltimore, but I suppose if you’ve seen The Wire, it’s not as if you don’t know what you’re getting into.

LOL
yeah, by check out the Streets from the Wire, I meant as in, Go down to West Point, ’borrow" an Armoured Personel Carrier and then drive around and have a look to see if it really is like it shows in that TV show, everything about that show (probably the best show ever made BTW) is so gritty and real, I cant imagine they have Exagerated what its like on the Streets
Pommylee
play a game in LOS ANGELES
or hawaii, or alabama, or maine or montana.
Think about it this way...
1) it’s just a road game
2) there’s a good chance that, since the other team will be losing a home game, the league will choose one of the teams experiencing blackouts, and thus probably a bad team. in addition, we have one of the shortest travel times to the UK. a bad team that just traveled much further to a site where we have one of the biggest followings in the league? i’ll take it.
3) potential for more fans, especially since we already have a decent following in the UK (i’ve heard this from multiple sources so I’ll take it). that’s never a bad thing.
Hopefully
it will be the Skins vs. a west coast team.
Or maybe the league will punish Jerruh for being Satan and make the UK game Redskins AT Cowgirls. Now I know that’s wishful thinking, but it would be beautiful.

That's the only game I'd consider flying over for.

you rich people
and you’re random overseas trips
SpotieOtieDopalicious
I wish...
My friend can get me a friend/family pass on a flight and I have friends I could stay with. Maybe Snyder could lend us his jet for the HH community.

Aren't you the one that didn't post for a week
because you were in Germany? (see, I did notice)
Shit. I’ve never even flown anywhere, much less overseas.
his wife is german. I’m sure he was forced to go. I think I’m spending too much time reading everyone’s posts.
I bet she didn't have to push him too hard
to dedicate a week of his life to drinking awesome German beer.
And it was December 16, 2009
that Rekka realized that he spends most of his days on HH where the regulars know (and remember) not only his whereabouts, but also the nationality of his wife….I think I’m going to cry…..
BEERS FOR EVERYONE! (not the pussy domestics either)

Sometimes you wanna go
where everybody knows your screenname
and they’re always glad you repliedcame
They were talking in the article
about how it’s most likely going to be a team that can’t usually sell out their stadium. The fans may hate it, but the owners probably love it. Big-time revenues from Wembley Stadium.
