Need some help guys, going to the game next week.

Hey guys, two reason for doing this.

1) To take some heat off some of the in-house arguing (although Kevin and Ken have been doing good on that front themselves with the thought provoking articles the past couple of days).

2) Also, 'cuz I need genuine insight from people that have been going to the games.

Next week I'm going to the game (planning to be hammered FTR), and wanted to know what the best way to get out there and back was.

I know about the infamous traffic and have heard a lot of different ways about how to go about it. I can't remember who, but someone said something about a huge church that lets you park for $30 and basically you end up bypassing all traffic. Also, is the Metro a good way to get there? I do want to tailgate, but I don't have the patience for my wife's impatience with bad traffic.

Any and all ideas would be helpful. HTTR!!

Ooooo, Rekka...

the wife not liking traffic could be huge. The church is not a bad option if you get there early – definitely before noon and earlier if you can. Then you can head down to the orange lot (on the right on the way in, I believe) to the HH setup. At least that’s where me and my friends hang out and in my mind from KevinE’s comment near where they are. The Church is close to the hwy, so it does give you a leg up on the way out.

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

Back Exit

In the Furthest back Green Lot there is a secondary exit that takes you back roads (about 6 miles) to the beltway. We got out of the Eagles game in 15 minutes, it was awesome, we sat in traffict for 14.5 min until they opened the back gate and let us, along with the ten cars infront of us that hadn’t committed to the long way out, out a back exit and we followed signs to 495 it was great our friends that parked in the close green lot left at the same time as us and we were at home before they were out of the lot.

Well,

if you wait around for a little while traffic cools down a lot. Coming from Virginia I come through DC, around RFK, past some neighborhoods, a crowded dog park where women stare at me cause i’m rich, up towards PG county and the strip club i’m surprised we haven’t stopped at yet (it’s a wood building painted all black, looks hilarious), then you see FED EX. On the way home 495 to 66 after an hour in the lot or so (seems like a long time but it’s not all that bad).

Whatever you do, don’t take the metro, it’s awful.

I live in the city

so if I got in anywhere it would be at Benning Road, or Minnesotta Ave.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Whose going to that game?

Bring extra food and beer for a post-game tailgate. The traffic thins out after 1-2 hours, maybe sooner if less people come to the game or if we get blown out. Make sure the wife drinks a lot so she does not complain too much about it being cold out. I also suggest getting there at 9am when the gates open, there is much less traffic then….plus you are allowed to have your first beer at 9:05am and not feel like a drunk.

Traffic is alot better after an hour or so of post-game tailgating

but it was ridiculous all night after the Philly game, since it was raining and people don’t know how to drive in the rain.

My crew will be there. I’m the noise coming out of section 440. HTTR
