Sam Bradford Will Be A Redskin??
Bradford unlikely to slip by Washington (according to Adam Schefter)
Monday, November 2, 2009 | Print Entry
Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford could slip some in the April NFL draft, but it is unlikely he would slip past the Washington Redskins' first-round pick.
The Redskins' team doctor is Dr. James Andrews, who performed Bradford's shoulder surgery this past week. If any team is going to have extra insight as to how well Bradford's subsequent rehab is going, it is the Redskins. Of course, any team can get any information it wants about Bradford's shoulder, but it is an interesting connection that Andrews works for the Redskins.
In the weeks before the 2008 NFL draft, Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart underwent foot surgery with Dr. Robert Anderson, who also happened to be the Carolina Panthers' team doctor. Then, when the draft came, Stewart slid some but not past the Panthers' 11th overall pick.
This is not to suggest that Bradford is destined to land in Washington, but it's hard to imagine him getting past the Redskins' slot, wherever it is.

if we draft him
he’s going to be killed (by this O-line)

Drafting more players with injury histories!
A Vinny trademark!

oh please no
outside of the esteemed Vince Young are there any Big 12 QB’s that have done jack shit in the league in the last 5 years? Drafting a guy with a bum shoulder out of a conference that has almost no history of developing nfl caliber signal callers seems like something that would help us continue our downward spiral. No offense to Bradford, who I’m sure is a good kid, a talented college player but who exactly are these guys being measured against? I would like to see some attention be given to the OL first, there are always QB’s coming out and I don’t see Bradford as a difference maker.
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....

I am a Jake Locker man myself
I just have not forced myself to write that article yet. Of coure, he would have to come out in the draft this year, but if he did, he is the guy I want.
As for Bradford…I am a little torn. Guys do heal from these injuires. Who thought Drew Brees would do what he is doing after he had surgery on his shoulder prior to landing in New Orleans?

did you have to bring up Brees?
Why was he the one FA we passed on?
As for Bradford, maybe our front office turned a corner last year after the media was sure that we would trade up to draft the big name QB, but were patient instead and rewarded with a gem in Orakpo. Maybe.

Brees wasn't available
Gibbs had already invested in Brunell and drafted Campbell in 2005 when Brees became free in 2006.

I heard rumors
that we were looking at him anyway. Either way, in hindsight, we should have backed the money-truck up to his door.

I am with Sugar....
Locker is the man! If I had to pick one guy that could survive next season as a RC behind this line while it rebuilds…..clear cut that it is Locker. He is amazing…..he could be a starting RB if he wanted. Everyone talks about Tebow……Tebow is half the athlete of Locker. Jake is like a throwback…..he runs in those small steps that don’t look fast but he is blazing…..it’s like watching game tape of Doak Walker or something from the 40s! He has a cannon too, and is very accurate on the run. Usually, I worry about guys like that transitioning to the NFL game….but this guy is such a great athlete…..he could play almost any position and would be worth a high pick at any of them! I would prefer the Skins wait until the following year to get their QB of the future….but if he comes out this year and they have a shot…..I would love to see him in burgundy and gold!

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about picking a QB round 1.
To me, it makes a lot of sense. Quarterbacks have a much higher learning curve than lineman, so if you draft one now, you can sit him for a year, then draft a LT in 2011 and plug him in immediately. If we draft a lineman this year and a QB in year 2, it’ll set you back a third year. I think going QB in round 1, then O-lineman through the rest of the draft is the way to go.

I'm against drafting one in the first round
they are the most expensive position, and have a very high bust risk

at least for the next couple of years anyway
I can think of way too many first round qb busts, but not too many lineman.

yup.
A team can win without a 1st round QB under center. Few teams win without a solid oline. A solid Oline can even make a marginal or a rookie QB look like that stud 1st rounder.

Which is why
we should stick with JC for a year or two, if possible.

Scott, you should know better by now
Danny doesn’t do common sense.

I can't agree
The O-line has a lot more problems than just waiting a year to draft a LT. We need starters at RT, RG, and LT, and we need competent backups at every position (go ahead, name one decent backup o-lineman on our team).

this is all true
but how do you fix all that, its just crazy what the NEGLECT and INCOMPETENCE have done to this team, no wonder JGIBBS went back to NASCAR, dealing with Kyle Busch might be a complete pain, but its gotta be better than Danny.
Back to your point though, how do you fix all 5 positions and the back up in one or even two drafts, especially when you have nothing of value to offer the league..This is not a rhetorical question btw, I want an answer!!

Bradford won't get drafted in the first round
And definitely not in the top-10, where we’re destined to be.
We need to work on O-Line, strong side linebacker, and coaching up our receivers and DBs. Bring in some QB competition for Campbell and some HB competition for Portis (that means someone who could conceivably be a starter in this league, not some change-of-pace guys). Will that make us playoff contenders next year or the year after? No. But what really would make us contenders next year, other than bribing the Patriots to wear Redskins jerseys?

We can't shoot for next year.....
that’s part of the problem here. Each off-season….Snyder and company go in trying to figure out how to win a Super Bowl this year! That’s the problem….you need to plan through the draft, free agency, and player development for 2-3 years down the road! There aren’t 3 player we can bring in and completely fix this team for the long haul. The idea should be to build a legacy, and by legacy, I don’t mean the turd trail of one we have been laying down the last few years!

Truth be told
A QB can wait. I really dont want to see us throw a rookie QB behind that line. That guy will be scared for life.

And probably Campbell at this point
He may not be scared for life but he’s inching closer and closer every game.

yep..
watch his eyes… if a rec’r isn’t open after 2 sec he will start moving those eyes to the line break-down (short of falling on his knees and praying to God for his life).
