Live Game Thread: Redskins @ Eagles
Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles, Nov 29, 2009 1:00 PM EST
I do not have a good feeling about this game. We've seen how effective the Redskins pass rush is without Haynesworth and with Hall out, McNabb is likely going to pick the D apart. It's fitting that Mr. Snyder's most expensive free agent acquisitions are all out for a big NFC East game.
We'll do another giveaway today. Whoever can guess the correct winner and closest to total points will win the Karl Mecklenburg book we recently reviewed.

Wow
Why do u risk giving the worst offense in the league ball in their own territory?

Yes
And most of last year too

Skins
redskinsblog: Last opening drive rushing touchdown for the #Redskins was, per Skins PR, against Arizona — game 3, 2008.
by Kevin Ewoldt on Nov 29, 2009 1:18 PM EST via mobile reply actions
He was healthy when it counted
We just didn’t get it done…No need to rush him back…except for the finale against the cowgirls. he has to make that game.
If it wasn't for that
there wouldn’t be any doubters. Man’s a hell of a player, but needs to be on the field to earn that monster contract.

this is football
injuries happen. You can’t evaluate him on his contract, you evaluate him on his play
And he's not playing now
Don’t get me wrong, I’m rooting for the Skins wholeheartedly today. Not just for the standings, but I’m playing against the Eagles D. So I want you running up the score here, and having fat man on the field would help that.

Why do the skins never throw the ball past the 1st down marker?
by Kevin Ewoldt on Nov 29, 2009 1:27 PM EST via mobile reply actions
He has no respect for this run defense
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
They should put
Tryon on him the whole game, no matter where he goes. Follow him to the goddam sideline
How can they not keep track of Jackson?

Funny thing is....
If Vinny did draft Desean Jackson, you know Randle El would still be returning punts.
by Kevin Ewoldt on Nov 29, 2009 1:40 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Yep
You know our coaching staff wouId not have used him right. I also wonder if DT or MK would have be more successful in their offense, too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
WTF
what the F kind of coaching do they have going on,that illustration of the coaching is like some elemtary school mess
Just wish we had traded him before he got hurt while he still had some value.

by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 1:47 PM EST up reply actions
I know
We repeat alot of plays and schemes but it always seems like the defences are always ready for what we are going to do.When we go play action pass the d is ready for it,i would think we would get one completion down field.Oh thats right it’ll either get dropped or JC will get creamed
So aside from one blown coverage, the skins look great today.
by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 1:50 PM EST reply actions
You probably just jinxed us
And so we’ll be blown out and it will be all your fault. You should be ashamed.
i think its ok to say we look great
but theres big problems with people making dumb statements about whats GOING to happen. And it does happen often on here. If not for HH posters, we would have won last week. Lol
True
Only that was two blown coverages.
by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 1:53 PM EST up reply actions
Thinking...
We had the potential to lead the NFC east,we pretty much lost most of our games by beating ourselves.
We should win just enough games to close out the year to get fans excited about next year. So, the usual.
by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 1:54 PM EST reply actions
Thank God
Daniels cares enough to not have his surgery and still finish the season, that’s commitment there.
Yep
They try to play like bigtime shutdown guys instead of getting the job done. It’s all show back there
I’d like to see some trickery here. Maybe a Randle El pass or something.
by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 2:11 PM EST reply actions
only so many times
we can hold them back. They’re gonna break out if we keep this crap up. Prob’ly starting here.
I think Landry’s really improved his tackling as the season progresses, it’s the angles he’s taking that’s the problem.
And his timing
is always suspect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
Why hasn't DT returned kicks all season again?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
LMAO
When did Samuel start playing for the Skins?!?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
I won't lie
I really wish he WAS on our team.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
Maybe
But he’s also the best corner in our division.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
I’m not a Samuel fan. As you can see clearly in this game, the guy pads his INT stats against bad O-lines and QBs. Against good competition I wouldn’t even say he’s the best CB in Philly (Brown doesn’t get all those INT but he doesn’t give up as many yards).
I'm not a fan either
But that’s because of the colors he wears every Sunday. The few Iggle games I’ve watched, Samuel has covered the opposing team’s #1 receiver and he seems to shut his guy down. He has more passes defended and more INTs than Brown. He’s faster than Brown. The only thing I would say Brown is better than Samuel at is tackling. But it’s honestly tough to evaluate corners properly without considering a wide range of variables.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
Like I said, he’s good at getting INTs against bad teams (his only INT against an impressive team was the Giants and Eli Manning… and considering how the Giants are playing now, that’s not saying much) and he has more pass defenses because, as you said, he lines up against the other team’s #1.
Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s good (those INT make up for the relative lack in coverage skills), but I just wouldn’t trust him against a good O-line and a good QB because he just doesn’t get INT against good teams.
I

Unbelievable
When did he get hurt? Looking at the play book??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvIX3S0f-2c&feature=player_embedded
Reid probably doesn’t know what to do with three time outs. I wouldn’t be surprised if he found a way to botch the easy 3 pts here.
Everyone can blame the offensive line all they want, but JC knows he is going to be pressured and the bad decisions he constanly makes are 100% his fault.
by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 2:31 PM EST up reply actions
Say what you will about playcalling and gameplanning,
but our coaches have been very good at making adjustments at halftime all year and pumping everyone up.
Lets get a TO of our own to start the half.
I think
the first drive will tell whether we remain in the game. We need to keep them from scoring here. They’ve moved the ball way too easily
Zorns horrible clock management finally helped us
If he hadn’t wasted 50 seconds of clock time Philly would have had time to get a TD instead of a FG. FML
Because they kicked off to open the game?
by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 2:51 PM EST up reply actions

by Knubles and Bits on Nov 29, 2009 2:56 PM EST reply actions
I was nervous because the blue line of scrimmage that is usually on the screen picked a great play to not show up on. Or at least I didnt see it.

He was mostly behind the line
that was the best drive I’ve ever seen Campbell orchestrate. He’s building some confidence for next year when he’s the Bills QB after the Skins draft Clausen.

by les boulez bomber on Nov 29, 2009 3:01 PM EST reply actions
well, the second one was just before the end of the half and led to their field goal.
it really resulted from the weak O line which held for maybe 1 sec before jason was hurried
samuels is too good and knows that a hurried qb at the start of the play will look to dump and jumped the route

it was a good effort

this was another good effort…they are playing hard and much better
the team is poorly assembled and their weaknesses get exploited in crunch time…cant blame them for that
someone needs to tell vinny and danny that u need to field all positions with quality starters and backups
u cant just grab superstars- who inevitably get hurt- and leave gaping holes in the offensive line

Frankly
I couldn’t ask for any more out of our offense given all of the injuries we’ve had. 24 points is stellar from this group if you ask me. We are getting everything we could expect from this offense given the circumstances. Putting up more points per game than the starters did when they were healthy and against better opponents.
Defense
Unfortunately our defense has no idea how to protect a lead.
i just dont agree the d is the problem…we went three and out twice with under 7 min left in the game and a chance to win…u just cant keep em out there against good teams

So much
For Levi Jones being the answer at LT. He was a turnstyle for the Eagles RE which made it nearly impossible for us to move the ball. Amazing we scored 24 points in spite of his poor performance.
