can you help a fellow 'Skins fan follow his team
As some of you who have read my whining posts may already know, I'm English and have been raised in Australia and consequently get to see very few Skins games and am stuck with listening to Internet Radio and reading about the team to get an idea of what is going on. Now the knowledge I gain from writers on this site and other NFL writing is invaluable but I would love to see more of the team for myself. In Australia we have woeful internet speeds so live streaming is not an option and I am on mobile broadband so it is too expensive to download games ($30 for 2GB). I was wondering, and i know this is a big ask, but I was wondering if anyone had any of our games from the last few years saved in digital form,
If so I would like to ask if I was willing to send you some money and a USB stick, if you could transfer the game or preferably games to the USB and send them back to me here in Sydney. I would be more than happy to send enough money to make it worth your while (though not too steep, i'm not a millionaire, hell, i'm not even a hundredaire at the moment) but yeah i'll send enough for you to take your girlfriends or wives, whatever, out for the night, to apologise for all the time you 'waste' on football!!!!!
I know its a big ask and unlikely but i would be very apprecitive if anyone can help me out,
And there is no need for any cracks about "why would you want to watch them again etc etc, i would just like to see for myself more of what goes on on the field
BTW, bad news on ESPN today, what team do you think has the toughest strength of schedule for the rest of Season, yep its your 2009 Washington Redskins, whose opponents the rest of the way have a combined 42-21 record
Cheers

Can't help you but
I admire your level of fandom. How’d you become a redskins fan all the way down there?

is stupidity really to be admired?? :)
I am a sports fan, all sports.
And have always followed the NFL but I find it is much easier to really get into a sport when you have a team, so when I was 14 (always thought 12 but i just did the maths properly in my head) my mum bought me a pair of shorts that had the Skins logo on them for Xmas (this was 92)
so I adopted them as my team
it was close to a disaster too, my brother got Chicago Bears :)
So they were just my team, but in the 90’s we got no NFL in Australia except the Superbowl which in Australia is MOnday Mornings and my friends and I would always take the day off school or in later years off work to have Superbowl party’s, but I never got to see my Skins
ANyway during the 2004 election cycle I would read the Washington Post to follow the election and so one day I flicked to the sports section to check out what American Sports Writing was like and really started to enjoy it (In AMerica you have the best sportswriters in the world, beleive me, its just a shame your Sports Talk Radio is so tragically bad) and obviously being the WASHINGTON post it rekindled my fandom for the Skins and in the last few years I became more and more obsessed with the team, to the point that now some of my friends think I am insane and I am criminally neglecting my local Teams, Hawthorn in the AFL (Aussie Rules Football) and Sydney Roosters in the NRL (RUgby League)
SO yeah long explanation I know but you asked!!!! :)

I'm not sure about finding past games in digital form
but maybe the guys could try to get some of the newer games. if I knew how, I’d give it a shot.

Give this a shot
You can try downloading some games online. They’re in torrent form, so you have to download a program in order to download torrent files. Here’s the program.
http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/complete?os=win
You can just search “Washington Redskins torrent” in Google. I typed that in and the Buccaneers game came up.

I know you said that your internet speeds are horrible, so it’ll probably take forever to download the games, (considering some of the files are up to 2 GB) but I thought I’d give you this option at least.

awesome
thanks mate, the downloads arent that bad, its just a little to slow to watch live (on mobile broadband which I have, its ok at work on landline broadband) the only issue with the downloads is the cost as Mobile Broadband is ridiculously expensive here, $30 for 2GB, but still that is a good option for sure
much appreciated
And yes Austrlias internet infrastructure is a complete and utter disgrace
