Positivity week!!!

G;day All

My my my, doesnt the air smell sweeter and the sun shine brighter today!!!  WOOOHOOO

I have a suggestion...... for the last couple of months it has been a bad time to be a Skins fan, and the posts on this board have (quite rightly) reflected that dissapointment and frustration, and most of the posts and comments have (again quite rightly) been of the negative variety, Now we have some tough games coming up so no doubt them same issues will present themselves for us to complain about as the year goes on,

BUT

I think it would be a good idea, to devote this week, to all positive all the time week, focusing on all the good things that we did today, all the great plays, Breakout performances, good coaching moves, big hits, great cover tackles, terrific catches, players showing potential, you know all that sort of stuff..... If not the whole week, then maybe just this thread, but either way....

What a great day to be alive, a big win against a team with a winning record, quality O-Line play, BETTS!!!!, B-Rak continuing his outstanding rookie season, Great Int by Hall, Carter continuing to reek havoc from the edge, YEP there is hope in the world!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE this idea! Haha

First off, I’d like to say if Levi Jones and Chad Rhinehart aren’t on the pro bowl ballot, they damn well should be. Campbell had time all day, and we ran it down the throats of a team that has played, at times, like the best Defense in the league.

Props also to Blache for making huge adjustments to the passing game. -8 yards in the second half, are you kidding me?

by Boo. on Nov 15, 2009 6:55 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I only get to listen to the games

but Sonny and Sam were giving Levi a lot of credit for the whole game, and were saying with Levi at left it released Heyer ( I think they said, I could be wrong) to the right where he played much better too..

So was Levi as good as they were saying, cos they basically gave Levi a lot of credit for Bett’s yards, they didnt criticise Betts in any way, just pointed out how much Levi was helping the Run game

Yea I'm not observant enough

to critique the line play in real time, but they played fantastic. I’d put both sacks on Jaso— oops I forgot, positive week… Jason had a hell of a game too, he managed it well and made big plays when he needed to.

Also, in his interview with CSN after the game they were joking about his crappy sliding and he was saying he doesn’t slide cause he prefers to just run over the CBs. Its good to see Soup smiling.

Levi looked really good and I noticed him make several nice plays in the run and pass game

I could have missed some bad plays obviosuly but it has been awhile since I saw this team and was like “that was a nice block by that guy”

IN the spirit of positivity week

even have to give ‘gulp’ Vinny credit, for getting Levi

Now there is a million “he got lucky” replys that could be made to that comment but in the spirit of positivity week lets leave them until another time!!!

In the spirit of Vinny S'n D's

I would have given him credit if he got him in August for depth over Mike Williams.

by skinsfan28 on Nov 17, 2009 12:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

+100

If Vinny would have picked up Levi when we had a legitimate playoff shot, say weeks 1-5, then we may find ourselves in a much brighter spot today. Vinny still needs to go. But let’s not talk about the front office for a while.

by Kurtstack on Nov 17, 2009 12:36 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Damn

Didn’t know that, in either case Vinny and Danny will continue to receive hatred (albeit occasionally blind hatred) from me until we successfully draft and start a good tackle more than once a decade

6-2 start last year turned into 2-6 finish

so surely that means
2-6 start this year will mean a 6 – 2 finish

I didnt get to watch the game, so went of NFL.Com highlights and Listening live on the radio, BUT and I know this sounds stupid before i even type it

but it just SOUNDED like they played better

Highlights are always good thats why they are called Highlights, but just the rhythm and flow of the game sounded better, our offence just seemed to flow, the D got big plays when we really really needed them, it just sounded like a real team

ONCE AGAIN< THE REQUEST GO OUT

If anyone has anyway they can transfer the game into an MP3 I would be more than happy to send $50 Sunburnt dollars to that person for a copy of the game

Pommylee

by Pommylee on Nov 15, 2009 7:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Whats the exchange rate on sunburnt dollars?

And, no, it doesn’t sound stupid. From the very beginning of the game, it looked like an actual NFL game. The flow was there, definitely, and it really is amazing the difference some quality blocking makes.

by Boo. on Nov 15, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

practically one to one at the moment

its 95 cents or something

But I’ll even make it 50 greenbacks if you can get the game to me somehow

thanks dude

but for some STUPID reason, that is only available in the US

wait wait wait, this is postivity week

The NFL does one thing that is fantastic, (at least I think this is true) they force ESPN and Fox and the cable companys to allow access to Free to Air telecasts of their games if the Free To Air station wants it in foreign markets

At least I think this is true as we have just started a 24 hr sports channel on Free to Air in Australia and they are funning the ESPN MNF games and a selection of Sunday games even though that goes up against the same programming on Cable, if this is true, this is very very smart by the NFL…unfortunately we are getting a steady diet of Packers Vikings and Patriots games for our Sunday Games (Monday MOrning Aust time) at the moment

Still pity about Field Pass and thanks for taking the time to send the link

This feeling is weird

I don’t know what it is… I feel… happy for virtually the first time this year. I seriously forgot what it felt like to not only see the Redskins win, but to see them win and to see them actually play well against a good team. I think I’ll be able to bring out all sharp objects again without contemplating slitting my wrist this week. Happy times!!!

thank god

all i asked is that we start looking like a team! finally! your right feels good to play a game that we dont look like like we have no idea what were doing! no matter what happens from here on in at least we know the players pride will eventually kick in, also nice to know that they care!!!!

great post. Great day. Despite those horrible mistakes in coverage we looked really good and people were coming out of the woodworks to make plays. D. Thomas makes a nice play. Kelly has a good catch and run. L. Jones looks solid. Randle El didn’t piss me off too much. Even that Quinton Ganther guy made a great block and nice catch. Plus those hits by Rocky and Alexander. Cowboys and Eagles lose shamefully. Great day.

Now in the spirit of the Thread

Can I get ppl’s nominations for
Defensive MVP of the Game

Offensive MVP of the Game

Best HIt of the Game

Best Run of the Game

and my favourite

best unnoticed play of the game (this is a play that proabably did not make the highlight reel such as Hunters fake punt of DHalls int return, Thomas’s great run………. BUT was crucial at that moment of the game but proabably went unoticed, such as a pass deflected on 3rd down, a gut busting run to get an extra yard, quality catch on 3rd down, that sort of thing

Pommy

you poor bastard. I think I’d kill myself if I had to live Down Under permanently w/o football.

All those unnoticed plays of the game you mentioned are all in the highlight reels. LOL

But here are my nominees:

Offensive MVP – Ladell Betts (obviously_

Best Hit of the Game – Rocky McIntosh (I’m tempted to give it to Lorenzo, but blowing up Denver’s star player is the tipping point)

Best Run of the Game – Devin Thomas (Amazing 27yrd run after the catch, while breaking at least 4 tackles)

Best Unnoticed Play of the Game – Quinton Ganter’s blitz pick up allowing us to get the first down.

I like where you went with those picks Rekka!

can someone PLEASE

send me a link to the McIntosh hit on Marshall, it is not on the NFL.com highlights and I keep hearing about it and am yet to see it (the Lorenzo one on the return would be sweer too)

also

Best Unnoticed Play of the Game – Quinton Ganter’s blitz pick up allowing us to get the first down.

almost the perfect example of that I mean by unnoticed play, good one Rekka

Quintons's

hit could also be the Best Hit. I’ve never seen a back pick up a blitz like that. The Skins had the Broncos going “whoa, whoa” all day.

So far no one's mentioned

the 3rd down catch that DT made on his knees next to the sideline. I believe that play kept our scoring drive alive. It was like 3 and 8 or something and JC rolled out and I thought he was throwing it away and then WOW!!

speaking of weird plays

anyone remember that weird Santana catch he made when he caught himself on his elbow with no one around him, and then dove backwards for like another yard?

We do a lot of goofy

it seems. But I’m encouraged. We definitely looked like a professional football team out there, Sunday. Not something I could say for most of the previous 8 games. Again, throw away the two bombs to Marshall and the kickoffs OB, and this was a solid win by a bigger margin of victory.

Oooh…it felt good just to be able to type “margin of victory”!!
