My Dream Overhaul

The folowing scenerio would be an agressive overhaul to the 2010 Redskins:

First lets start at the top.  A new GM is needed. We hire Bill Cower, and give him both head coach and GM responsibilities. He is competent enough to bring in successful coaches to surround himself with.

Second, a complete overhaul of the offense is needed. Lets start with the QB.  JC is out.  His descision making and leadership have been questioned.  We move forward with Sam Bradford as our first round pick.  In the second RD we draft Ciron Black, OT/OG LSU.  We moved Portis in the offseason for a third rd pick.  With that pick we draft Sam Young, OT Notre Dame.  With our 4th rd pick we take LeGarrett Blount  RB Oregon.  He slips into the 4th due to off field problems, but his talent can't be denied.  We use our later round draft picks to pick up depth at OL and a LB.  In free agency we add(for a ton of money), LT Marcus McNeil from San Deigo to fill the void left by Samuels.  We also add Jerious Noorwood, RB Falcons to compete at RB.  We cut ties with Randel-El, Cartright, Mike Sellers, Mike Williams, Levi Jones, Bastista, Montgomery and Betts.

Here is our new offense:

Mitchell                                    McNeil   Dock   Rabach   Black    Young    Cooley                                        Thomas/Kelly

                      Moss                                               Bradford

                                                                              Williams

                                                                       Norwood/Blount

Third, Our defense is changed to a 3-4.  We cut Griffin and Carter.  We sign Dumervil OLB Denver.  All other parts remain the same.

Here is our new D:

                                                           Jarmon                  Haynsworth               Alaxander

                         Orakpo                         Fletcher                                  McIntosh                       Dumervil

Hall                                                                                                                                                                            Rogers

                                              Horton                                                                   Landry

Eh, interesting...

Your moves on the offensive side are realistic, though I wouldn’t want to use a top 10 pick on a QB who will have some serious injury concerns. People will say that you are crazy to pick anything besides OL in the first round, but if its thin up top we shouldn’t reach esp. with all the QB prospects there are. I agree that Campbell isn’t coming back, I’m a fan but he’d be crazy to re-sign and I think he confidence is too compromised to succeed wearing burgundy.

The Blount pick is interesting, but I don’t know how happy I’d be. Same with Norwood, I don’t see much difference between him and Betts.

Defensively, moving to the 3-4 is really risky. We have a top 5 defense now, why mess with it, even if we do have the personnel? Though, Cowher would probably want to make that move if he’s the guy… and thats a huge if. I’m surprised that you wouldn’t want to blow up the defensive back field… Is Rogers a FA?

by Boo. on Nov 15, 2009 11:30 AM EST reply actions

Rogers is a free agent

but reguardless of his lack of producing turnovers, he is a good cover corner. If we let him go via FA, we better hope Barnes and Tryon are up to the task.

As for us getting Blount, he is young, and is a complete back who can stay on the field on 3rd downs.

by Tiller56 on Nov 15, 2009 12:37 PM EST reply actions

they should

put the franchise tag on Rogers, see if we can get some picks for him.

An overhaul is definitely needed, but a 3rd rounder for CP is a pipe dream.

by CJHutch on Nov 15, 2009 4:20 PM EST up reply actions

I had no idea

but Rogers was benched for the rest of the game after that first BMarsh TD.

Accountability?

by Boo. on Nov 15, 2009 5:05 PM EST up reply actions

good for them

Again, I just feel like these guys are getting too complacent. We need a culture shift. Put in some guys who want to MAKE a name for themselves, rather than guys who are living off their names.

I saw that too

amazing move by Zorn, I suppose now he cant call plays he feels like he needs to do something

Still thought it was harsh,

Although we won, so you cant quibble

harsh?

I thought it was harsh when they benched Horton. But that set a precedent. Let’s see what they do with Rogers next game. Personally, I’d like to see Westbrook and/or Barnes get a little PT.

by CJHutch on Nov 15, 2009 6:55 PM EST up reply actions

agree

what they did to Horton was harsh, but today was warranted. his gaffes lead to two scores. everyone in my section just couldn’t believe that he was that open TWICE.

something needed to be done, and I applaud whoever made the decision to sit his ass. HTTR!

I would ahve too if it was after the 2nd one

but my understanding is (and I could be wrong) that he nbenched Rogers after the FIRST ONE, which would be amazing and would open up a lot of questions about whether the second one would have happened if Rogers had been given a chance to rectify his mistake

BUT STILL WE WON so it was the right decision either way

I have to come up with a snappy response based on a quote from an Australian Rules Football or Rugby coach? :) Let me google a bit and see what happens….

Collingwood are like the Dallas Cowboys of the AFL

just in case you were interested,
most support,
a whole lot of dissapointment for there fans in the last 18 years or so, lost finals games and the like
Flamboyant well known Club President (sort of like an Owner but clubs arent ’Owned by individuals in the AFL they are owned by the supporters, you dont get a season pass you get a membership and you can vote on who runs the club in elections every 4 years

anyway I should stop now, but yeah Collingwood are the Dallas Cowboys of the AFL

all of you should Support Hawthorn anyway

Seeing as I support the Redskins and Hawthorn

you should all join me, so the next time someone asks you who you support in the Australian Football League (which I am sure happens ALl THE TIME, just answer “the Mighty Hawks”

we won the premeirship (superbowl basically) the season before last and have 2 of the most exciting talents in the game in Lance Franklin and Cyril Riole, noth indifinous (aboriginal) players with freakish skills, if you youtube Cryril Rioli I think you will find it impressive

He was benched after the first TD

The second one, Hall was the corner and sat down in his zone like he was supposed to. Smoot, believe it or not, was playing safety and bit on an under route. Bad mental error, but its not his main position. Good for him for still playing a solid game.

by Boo. on Nov 15, 2009 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

I normally agree

or can at least see your points, CJ, but I think we need to get rid of the Stone Temple DB. I’m not sure what’s going on with him, but I’ve never seen an athlete so gifted with his legs but so ungifted in the hands. He needs to earn his way back into the lineup after Sunday, and then we’ll see. Maybe that will shake him up.

VA_Skin

brought up the point before that normally we would keep him because he usually shuts down his side of the field. But now he’s getting burned AND not catching the ball. So it may be time to cut ties and see what Tryon or some of the other guys can do, ESPECIALLY with the kind of money he’s gonna want.

IF we take a 1st Rd QB

which I am against BTW, but IF we do

I like that McCoy from Texas. watched him a couple of weeks ago (they occasionally show college games in Australia too) and I really liked what he saw

he actually made me understand what the experts say when they say “NFL type QB” so many college games I watch the QB plays well but just doesnt look like an NFL player somehow, this guy just did, really impressed me

BUT

I see very little college stuff, and even if I did, I’m no expert anyway so what would I know, but still I liked that guy he looked good

as anyone else seen him and what did you think

Why does everyone love the 3-4, just b/c it works for a couple of teams doesn’t mean it will work for us. Especially with our personnel! Orakpo needs to play at the end position! Do you really want to make the same mistake Green Bay made by putting Kampman back as a 3-4 linebacker?

by Parks Smith on Nov 16, 2009 9:40 AM EST reply actions

Tradition

Why not stick with Tradition
Redskins run a 4-3, sure it can be a hybride at times with wrinkles but the base defense is a 4-3

Reskin’s played traditional football on Sunday and win

Tradition seems to work.

Nice Try on your DREAM Offense...

Nice try and thats interesting – but the talent already exists on the team…Actually – the talent really existed in Preseason this year – and they let most of it go to other teams…Thats the most dis-heartening….:((

But Keep searching – in the names – the winning setup is there on the roster already, I will put it there for you in a few weeks…

Ummmm.... He guys Im gonna start my own 2010 post here in a min if you wanna check it out

In my FANTASY world we find out that Dan Marino, Lynn Swan, Barry Sanders, all the HOGGS, Darrel Green, Art Monk, and others have all been recreated through cloning. Yeah its true. This is why SIX Flaggs is failing cause Snyder dropped all of his money into this years ago. The guys are all 15 and have been playing together since they were 5….

No guys this is not the truth, there is no cloning, but this story was not too far from what some of you have come up with here lately on the some 5 WWJD 2010 predictions….

trade portis and campbell for picks

trade portis for 2nd round pick back to broncos, and campbell tender him and get 1st and 3rd pick ,probably a 3rd.

by ghost rider on Nov 18, 2009 1:59 PM EST reply actions

Portis won't get us a 2nd round pick

there will be 4th, 5th and 6th rounders in the draft with more in the tank. Like him or not, Campbell is our best option for 1-2 yrs while we rebuild the line.
