too old school

I think

Star-divide

We are too old school !! The offensive lines problem may be do to Joe Bugel !!! You cant convince me that our linemen are that bad !!! Its time for the new school !! The NFL has advanced not declined !!! There are new techniques at every position nowadays !!!  There is too much old school involved in our technique !!! These coaches that played ball back in the day dont  seem to understand that the human race has evolved !!! You have players that are 6' 250 plus that move like cheetas !!! I mean 4 real look at Lavar when he was a Skin 6' + 240 lbs running the 40 in like 4.4 !!!! thats fast with alot of force !!! Its like this , take the best teams back in the day and line them up with the players  today !!! IMO they would get steam rolled !!! Its kinda like putting Muhamid Ali in his prime in the ring with Lennox lewis or Mike Tyson in their prime !!! IMO Ali would get his ass whipped !!! The old school game was good in its day but now athletes have evolved , they are bigger , stronger and faster !! Some of you old school guys on here might disagree but im sure the younger generation understands where im coming from !

Whoah there little guy......

Us old timers might know a thing or 2! Are you forgetting George Foreman kicking ass at 50 years old? I understand where you are going……but don’t use the Ali reference. You could start a shit storm with us “old timers”, As for the line…..blocking is blocking my friend. How many different techniques do you think there are to stop someone! Bugel is old school…..so the only difference between him and a younger coach is, the young coach says “You have to hold him up at the point of attack, keep him out of the throwing lane” while Bugel says “Knock em’ on their asses and blow their mom a kiss”! I like Bugel’s approach! Our line is shit……it will get better. Once they firgure out where everyone is playing…….it will get better. They are shuffling too much right now!

you tell 'em shvd,

these punk kids think they invented everything. Nothin that’s old can be any good. We need to do it a new, different way.

Bull. The tried and true, proven methods normally hold up to the test of time. Why reinvent the wheel when the one we got rolls just fine? I’m not sayiing innovation isn’t a good thing, but not all innovation is. Let’s see…infomercials, the Shopping Network, rap mucic, reality shows, body piercing, etc., etc., etc. All great innovations!

Football, no matter how innovative, is still blocking and tackling. Do those and you win, don’t and you lose.

So many exclamation points.

There should be a fine for poor punctuation. The points you make are not solid if you must add emphasis to them using exclamation points. That is what I think of your post, my friend.

Simple statement:

You can never be “too old school”: Smash mouth football still works, ask the Championship Steelers if you have any doubts.

Ali would have kicked everyone’s butt, get real!
Tyson and Lewis—-HA, HA, HA, ha!

Nice
"You have to hold him up at the point of attack, keep him out of the throwing lane" while Bugel says "Knock em’ on their asses and blow their mom a kiss

Damn near poetry.

+1

I’m not even a geezer and I don’t agree with this. Nothing wrong with old school football at all. ESPECIALLY since these guys are so much bigger and athletic nowadays.

Also, I have no idea what this post is about. Old school is small, slow players; new school is big, fast players?

Old school wins NFL games

new school wins Madden online.

Running the same 4 plays on offense and letting Madden tell them what defense to pick!

by shvd98z24 on Nov 10, 2009 3:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

My Madden passing offense is a joke right now

Seriously, where once I was able to get 10 yards without even trying, now I am struggling to stay out of 3rd and long every damn time. My offensive line is all in their low 20’s so I am hoping for some evolution there (Cutler at QB).

I need a consistent 5 yards on 1st down and I am just not getting it. My defense is amazing, but I have gone completely stale on offense.

Go to shotgun.....

Find one of the screens to the HB! They have the regular screens and the long developing ones. I can get a first down almost every time with the longer developing ones! The hottest deep routes I have found are flag routes out of slot! Lob over the top after a quick pump in man…..money!

tell me something about Madden

I dont play many Video games anymore, but the one I stuck with longest was madden, but in the 06 version (Ithink it was 06 the first one with the Hit Stick on PS2 anyway) I got bored of it, because whenever you got stuck in a 3rd and long situation you could choose Hail Mary as your plays and know that one of the four would get open and just throw to him.

Have they done anything to get rid of this cheat from the game cos if so I may go and buy a system XBOX 360 are like $299 with a game in Australia at the moment.

Totally different now......

you get to fight for fumbles in the pile….the players look at the closest tackler…..you can have multi-player tackles….it goes on and on! I would get a PS3 if I were you….built in Blu-Ray player! Everyone likes what they lie….but I am not putting anymore money in Bill Gates pockets unless he buys and fixes the Skins!

by shvd98z24 on Nov 11, 2009 7:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I think Gates has decided.....

that curing Aids is easier than curing the Skins at the moment

and hes probably right!!!

Thanks though, I think I will go PS2, dont like the controllers on Xbox anyway

were you playing on the hardest level?

That doesn’t sounds like All-Madden

whenever you got stuck in a 3rd and long situation you could choose Hail Mary as your plays and know that one of the four would get open and just throw to him.

Maybe Bugel needs to go

But if you can’t be convinced that our OL is that bad, then you’re deluding yourself. Joe Bugel does not deserve to be reflected by guys like Mike Williams, D’Anthony Batiste, Will Montgomery, Chad Rinehart, and Stephon Heyer. Maybe Montgomery and Rinehart deserve to be backups. Maybe. Maybe Heyer deserves to be on the practice sqaud. Maybe. Maybe I liked Mike Williams a lot better when he was just that guy working out with Derrick Dockery and losing weight. Definitely.

You realize....

crystal meth is illegal!!!! How are you gonna bash Bugel……he is one of the most well respected position coaches in the LEAGUE! No one is saying the o-line isn’t horrendous…..but I haven’t heard anyone blaming it on Bugel…he has to work with what they plop in front of him! Considering your opinions above of the individual players….you should be giving Joe credit for not giving up 20 sacks a game!!!

by shvd98z24 on Nov 11, 2009 7:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Are you arguing with me?

Because I stress that I said that maybe Joe needs to go, then went on to detail all the reasons why this season shouldn’t be a reflection on him. How in the hell did I bash Bugel. Please show me in what way I “bashed” him. I said he doesn’t deserve to be reflected by those guys! The inference is of course that he deserves much better! Did you actually read what I wrote, or did you just see the top line and decide to respond to it?

Took it wrong...

When you said: “Joe Bugel does not deserve to be reflected by guys like Mike Williams, D’Anthony Batiste, Will Montgomery, Chad Rinehart, and Stephon Heyer.”, following your headline….it made it seem as though you were saying they were too good for him! Judging by some of the posts on here recently….nobody is safe….but I feel Bugel is one of the best coaches….didn’t want to see him getting shit on! My apologies for misreading! Obviously I read the whole thing by referencing your thoughts of the players. I might have been too deep into the liquor cabinet by then!!! LOL!

Bugel is a great coach

and from what I’ve seen, Montgomery and Rinehart shouldn’t be backups. If they are backups, then you risk actually having them on the field at some point. This should never happen.

by CarverM on Nov 11, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

That would be why I emphasized the word "maybe"

Hey, if you’ve got some really reliable guys starting, and you absolutely need a backup at one of those positions, fine, Rinehart is still young; he could be the backup solely for learning purposes. But, of course, I would much rather those guys be on the practice squad or somewhere else.

I think we need a younger OL coach

I feel like Buges hasn’t really overseen any great development or great finds.
