Dan Snyder Confisacated All Negative Signs/Bags at Gates
I don't want people to think this is a Snyder bashing site. I have defended him relentlessly in his lessons learned of how the franchise improved when Gibbs ran the show, but taking away any negative signs from paying fans is flat out wrong and highlights the disassociation between him and the fans.

WOW
First of all, I disgree with people wearing bags. I think that if you want to wear a bag, just dont go to the game. Second, I dont see wnything wrong with bringing in signs of any sort, as long as it doesnt obstruct anyone’s view. Third, I guess that technically it is Snyder stadium and therefore he can do whatever he wants. That being said, what an ass. Whatever happened to free speech? He really doesnt care about the fans one bit. What a shame.

I love the Junkies
I hope they get under Snyder’s skins all year long.

Well
It says in the stadium guide that bags are not allowed, so I’m not faulting Snyder for that one.
http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Stadium_Guide_1621.jsp
If someone had something negative to say about you and you had the advantage of preventing them from saying it, wouldn’t you use that advantage and stop them? I’m not saying what he did was right but can you really blame him? However, it was Snyder who put himself in this situation in the first place so I don’t feel sorry for him at all. But this doesn’t really change how I feel about him. I’m pretty sure the fans who had their signs taken away don’t feel any better about Snyder however.

Other ways available...
I saw some of these make it through the gates:

I had a bag
and the Rent-a-Cop at the gate took it from me. He said I would get kicked out if I wore it in the stadium. This is absolutely ridiculous! My bag was not in anyway a meant to offend the players, but to show how much I truly despise the owner. It actually said “Snyder Vision” at the top! Say what you want about the bags. All I hear is “talk” about how upset we are, and no one wants to do anything about it. Everyone is a sucker (including myself) because we bleed burgundy and gold. Snyder knows this, and knows he doesn’t have to change. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!

I really truly think this was just security so get over it
FedEx rules:
Please be aware that the following items are prohibited inside FedExField:
Bags, including: backpacks, gym bags, duffel bags, packages, briefcases, large purses, etc.
Food and beverages of any kind
Umbrellas (plastic ponchos are available for sale at select merchandise areas)
Bottles, jugs, thermoses, cans, coolers, or any other container
Animals (except for certified guide dogs assisting disabled guests)
Whistles, horns and other noise makers
Weapons, firearms
Illegal drugs
Folding chairs
Leafletting or distribution of any literature
Its pretty clear that the rule has been for the past 15 years that you can’t bring BAGS into the stadium. Just put it in your pocket if you want to be a DB that bad and wear one.

Take it from someone who goes to every game at fedex
People have always been able to bring in bags and signs. The fact yellow jackets were going thru the stands and confiscating those that did sneak them in is evident that an order came down to the gates.

And I'm glad they did it
Brown paper bags solve nothing at all and only creates more problems rather than solve them.

they create a problem?

It's possible
They can create dissension between the fans and between the fans and the players. You thought Robert Henson was mad at the booing? Imagine if people were booing and wearing bags on their head. How do you think the players would feel about that? Then it’s possible that a Robert Henson-like comment could come from some of the players that actually play, thus making the fans mad at not only Snyder, but mad at some of the players as well. Who knows what Fedex would be like in this situation.
No, I’m not saying all of this was going to happen, and yes some of it’s a little far-fetched, but it’s not inconceivable to think this scenario could pan out because of fans deciding to wear bags.

fans should be able to do things like wearing paper bags

Not in this case
It embarrasses the players, coaches, and the fans that decided to go to the game to actually watch football and root for the team. If you’re worried about bringing a bag to the game, you’re main focus obviously isn’t to root for and support the team, and I don’t want people at Fedex that isn’t intent of supporting the team.

if the players and coaches are more embarassed by paper bags
than by their play this year, they should be cut/fired.
blindly supporting an inept owner does not equal ‘supporting the team’.

The point is
You’re not going to make Snyder want to sell the team or change his ways by putting a bag over your head. People that think they’re going to accomplish anything besides looking like a fool by putting a bag on their head are very delusional.
by bigrm18 on Oct 6, 2009 3:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
that's not the point of wearing a bag
the point is personal opinion expression.

And that's also my point
People should be focused on going to games to root for their team, not go to games to express opinions. There’s plenty of better ways/places to express your opinion.

I think
someone should print up 100, 000 pictures of Snyder, cover them in plastic, then duct tape them to the urinals.

I’m rooting for my team by putting a bag over my head in protest.
Snyder’s running the team into the ground and every little bit will help to show him that we’re not going to take it anymore.

Putting a bag over your head is really going to show him. I bet he’ll sell the team when fans put bags over their heads and look like idiots. That’ll work!

Its very stupid unless you’re really ugly

If they’re embarrassed: good! That’s the god damned point, they should be embarrassed.

And you think embarrassing the players is going to do what exactly?
by bigrm18 on Oct 6, 2009 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The point here isn't
whether fans should or shouldn’t be doing it. It is their right to do so. Period. If that megalomaniac midget can’t take it, tough shit.

So?
Everyone gets mad that Pittsburgh fans were allowed to buy tickets to the game… Why? Because we didn’t want that kind of anti-Redskins negativity in our stadium. But we’re not OK with officials confiscating signs and bags that, honestly, are worse than terrible towels? At least the Steelers fans came to support their own team. People with bags and signs came to boo the Redskins.
It sounds like a double-standard to me. “You should keep out all the people who aren’t supporting the Redskins, unless those people happen to be Redskins fans who are unhappy with the team. Those people should be allowed to criticize the Redskins as much as they want, even though it’s your job to make sure that no one else does it.”

I'm changing my tune on this...
Fans bringing bags to the stadium is one thing, but when you’re competitor radio station produces 10,000 of them to hand out to fans, that is a totally different story.

If anyone here or at the radio was creative they would have...
Given instructions to take a dump in them and then light them on fire on the FedEx doorstep.

That makes more sense
Something just didn’t seem right about wearing a bag to the 4th game of the season. Every idiot with a bag was really just supporting the agenda of a rival radio station.
by VA_Skin on Oct 6, 2009 2:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
A rival radio station that was catering to the fans.
Who wants to listen to Larry Michael spew platitudes about the team? Who’s idea was it to give Vinny Cerrato a radio show named “In The Red Zone” (Talk about irony)?
Every time I hear Czaban’s voice I want to rip my radio out of the car.
Worst of all is that he owns two different Channels for the same station, neither of which are half as powerful as said “rival radio station”.
Snyder needs to come out of his cave and talk to the media. He’s coming off as a petulant penguin mixed with Montgomery Burns and unless he wins a Superbowl, his image will only get worse until he puts on a better face to the fans.

I planned on the bag before the junkies
I understand why you would get mad at the bags, as you should. I hate the owner. My bag was for the owner. and although a modest statement, one that was on a personal level for me. I wouldn’t have worn it in the game, since I was in the 200’s, and I wouldn’t block anyones view. Mine was intended to stir up the displeasure for our chopper hopping owner. It didn’t work out anyway, but I did get some great comments on the way up to the field while I was in the parking lot, so at least I got a little satisfaction out of it.
On a side note. Johnny Rockets has got to be the worst restaurant ever. Just my opinion!
