Redskins Trying Out Former Titans RB Chris Henry
Sherman Smith used to coach him, and this is a pretty clear indicator that the Redskins are not confident on Portis' current health/productivity.

Or both.
If we pick him up, hopefully it’s one of those “someone’s trash is another’s treasure” deals.

or
someone’s trash really is trash. I think he’s a less heralded version of Ki Jana Carter. He had one or two seasons where he was pretty good, but has done nothing since. And nobody wants him. Plus, I seem to remember him having injury and, if I’m not mistaken, fumbling problems

He’s only been in the league since 2007 and has only played in 10 games carrying the ball 32 times for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
He’s got Chris Johnson, LenDale White, and just drafted Javon Ringer i believe in the second round? So he’s obviously not going to be getting alot of touches and there was no reason for him to be on their roster.
I don’t have a problem with us going out there to see what’s available. I don’t have much faith in any of our back up running backs unless it’s a screen pass to Betts.

doesn't matter
the Texans signed him. Talk about coincidences.
“The Texans are going to sign former Tennessee running back Chris Henry to their practice squad. Henry, a second-round pick in 2007, was waived by the Titans last week.
The Texans had been looking for a veteran running back for the practice squad to replace Anthony Alridge, the former UH back who was signed away from them by Washington last week. Arian Foster, an undrafted rookie running back from Tennessee, is also on the practice squad.
In other moves, the Texans placed linebacker Khary Campbell on injured reserve."-Houston Chronicle

So that's where Khary Campbell ended up: the Texans.
And now he’s on IR. He was our leading tackler on special teams last season.

i am the biggest homer
i know i might just be getting suckered again but this guy was a 2nd round pick and idk it just seems that if he got his act together and since he is young and fresh he might be able to get something done.
his combine was apparently impressive. Wiki.

If we're looking at Henry
What is the point of having Betts, Mason, and Alridge on the team? Specifically Alridge, since he has done absolutely nothing on this team. I guess Henry could be better than all of them, but is there anything wrong with trying to use any of the 4 backup RBs you already have on the roster? If they don’t think any of the backups can contribute the way they want, why are we wasting roster spots on people that won’t play?

you beat me to it
they’re taking up space and money if they’re so useless that we’re forever going outside of the team to find players. For ONCE I would like for us to have homegrown players on our team for a long period of time.
I'm to young to Die Danny...don't make me do it tomorrow....

Alridge
It’s hard to do anything when you’re inactive or on the bench.

That's my point
Why did we pick him up if we aren’t going to utilize him?

Why did we pick up half the guys we have if we’re not going to use them?
Marko Mitchell…Marcus Mason…Alridge…

That's something
We have to ask Zorn I guess.

As soon as you give me his phone number
And no it’s not 867-5309 I tried that one already.

Something weird is going on with our RBs
There’s something we don’t know.
These seem like subtle lightning-in-a-bottle attempts to find more RB talent.
It's all Dan Snyder's Fault

Exactly
IMO this is Zorn beating at Snyderrato’s door saying “I told ya so” after Portis’s performance yesterday. He should of have had about 125 yds. He just keeps falling down though. Alridge was a PR move because they’re not going to use him. Betts offers nothing more than some cathes out of the backfield and everytime he’s in the D can count on a pass coming. Mason offers some youth which I like.
But I’m sure CP will cry over this and he’ll get his way once again and as such we’ll have 2 or 3 years of mediocre running. It’s unfortunate but he needs a change of scenery, Portis that is.
HANDCUFFED!

PR move? Apparently the Redskins’ PR department needs to go back to school cause the fans want answers, not Alridge…or at least answers then alridge.
I feel like randy quaid in the major league movies

This is all part of our offensive transition
from a Gibbs power-running team to Zorn’s West Coast-based running preferences.

not sure we can afford him can we
I know a bit about this guy, who definately made the most out of what ability he had. He had one, semi decent half season at Arizona, where it was lamented about just how devastating a weapon he could have been if he had ever figured out how to read a block by his linemen and run behind it. Great speed, little game sense. He had big gains at Arizona due to the fact that it had a solid offensive line that allowed him to turn some corners or hit some huge holes. His natural speed did the rest but he is far from an intuitive runner. Tennessee got enamored with his speed and workout ability and drafted the kid way too high and never developed him worth a damn. I think it’s telling that the year after drafting him that they selected Chris Johnson out of ECU. Who did posses that lethal tandem of reading blocks and incredible speed.
I think this guy is under contract for this year and any signing of him would be a bit hit against the cap, as I understand the numbers.
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....

And The verdict..NOT
On his radio show on ESPN980, Redskins Coach Jim Zorn said the team would not sign Tennessee Titans running back Chris Henry, who worked out today at Redskins Park. Zorn declined to say who finished ahead in the four-way puntathon: Glenn Pakulak, Sam Paulescu, Waylon Prather and Ricky Schmitt.
