Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

FedUps Stadium. Shame !

This is a copy of a fan blog on the Washington Post's Redskin Insider. I would like to share this with you:

At half time, I went down to the concessions area to get a beer and a dog. Of course, the crowd was once again getting restless at the lack of productivity we were seeing on the field. Standing two rows away from me in line, were two middle aged men. One wore a T-shirt that read "Fire Snyder", the other's said "Fire Vinny".

It wasn't long after standing there that the men were surrounded by close to a dozen people wearing yellow security jackets. The conversation between them and the two men escalated quickly as security asked the men to remove their shirts. Of course the men refused, and one stated that he had been a season ticket holder for 26 years. The conversation continued to get heated and before you knew it 6 or 7 armed security officers formed a circle around the layer of yellowed jacketed security officers.

"Sir, you're about to lose those season tickets if you don't take off that shirt" is what he was told. I don't know what got into me but I had seen enough and had to speak up. This was beyond absurd! I cut across a crowd of people, entering the circle of security.... I said " these guys should be able to wear whatever they want! What the hell is going on? What the hell is this? Communist Russia??? ".

I was quickly greeted with a stern warning to not interfere and a shove in the chest that sent me back a few feet. A few minutes later, the men were escorted out of the area and a security woman approached me with an explanation about their actions. "Look, I know what you're saying, and I can't say that I don't agree with you, but I'm a part-time teacher and this job is my Holiday money"...."upper management told us to come up here and ask these men to remove their shirts and I can't lose my job, so I'm doing it."

I decided then and there that I would NEVER again set foot in Fed Ex Stadium as long as Dan Snyder was the owner. The way I saw people being treated for voicing their opinions on this night embarrassed me as a Redskin fan, a Washingtonian, and as an American. These sort of totalitarian strong arm tactics are downright shameful and I needed to let others know about it. I hope you share this story with your audience. A deeply embarrassed Redskins fan

Wow…that is incredible. Normally I would put “if true” after that statement but I am not the least bit surprised something like that happened. How bad are things when you actually expect that out of this organization? Pathetic.

That has to be some sort of violation of Free Speech, doesn’t it? How can that be legal? Why couldn’t those middle-aged men be middle-aged women? I bet the Skins would be in some serious shit if they sent a goon squad to get a couple of women to take off their shirts.

Is Snyder really that fragile

think about it, he never speaks to the press, I better he never reads the press either, and now he has banned signs and shirts taht are derogatory towards him, its liek the ppl around him, or he himself is trying to build a cocoon around him to block out all negative comments so that he is not made aware of how much he is ahted’

Is it possible that Dan lives in a World where is morning paper is bought to him with Negative articles snipped out, a internet server with a firewall to block out negative snyder articles and a bunch of yes men surrounding him telling him how wonderful he is….that means the signs and t-shirts are the only way through

Just like that Simpsons episode where Burns enters the Movie Competion, someone needs to tell ppl that it is Boos he is hearing, not Boo-urns……… or in this case they are full blown hisses he is hearing not ssssssnyder’s

Snydre as burns. Vinny as Smithers gotta admit it sound like the way it is

Man you guys are really getting screwed by ownership. If that story is true it should be on every news channel in town. Maybe Pat Collins can re-enact it in his trench coat and coke bottles. Better yet, wear the same shirts next game and have a friend film and YouTube it.

Someone could make a movie off of this

Hollywood writers could not even think this stuff up.

I heard.....

that the Redskins are the leaders of the league for their version of the “NFL Experience”. There is more action in the stands involving Redskins security people vs. fans than there is on the field, however, I’m not sure that it is worth the price of admission. Thank the Lord that I am not a season ticket holder.
