Cooley Hopes To Be Back in 4 Weeks
Chris Cooley just tweeted that he hopes to be back in 4 weeks after getting his 3 pins inserted tomorrow morning in Baltimore. There is a legit chance the Redskins will be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs at that time.
Chris certainly doesn't have anything to prove in regards to toughness. Being the competitor he is, we know he wants to be out there fighting and doing everything to help Campbell, but I don't think Redskins Nation can handle him going down again. It crossed my mind for a second that perhaps Fred Davis could have one of those Kevin Boss moments where he shines and takes over the spot, but that just doesn't seem likely given Cooley's popularity and effectiveness on the field. Shockey actually wasn't too productive when he broke his ankle.

Agreed
Cooley is still a young enough guy to be part of a rebuilt offense. No need to risk anything career ending for the 2009 suckfest.

crazy about his team
how many other people can you say that about on this team?
SpotieOtieDopalicious
career threatening
he’s gotta stay down this year. Yes, he wants to play, but ankles and knees are nothing to mess with. He’ll be ready 100% to start next year when all the dust has settled.
I’m an Eagles fan, but I’d hate to see a talent like Cooley go away too soon for the sake of a season where his team is struggling. Get your qi all lined up for next year (head coach, QB, etc.) and hit it hard.
No doubt Mr. Snyder will get one of the “star” head coaches in the off season, and so will Mr. Jones for the Cowpokes, and it’ll be back to a couple years ago when there was Coughlin, Reid, Parcells, and Gibbs as HCs in this division.
Cooley’ll be happy he did in 2-3 years when someone like Cowher rebuilds you guys back to prominence.
Fred Davis did pretty well last night on a purely receiving level. There’s no way he’ll ever take the starting tight end spot from Cooley but I think he might make a good slot receiver. They should probably split Cooley’s work between Davis and Yoder (who can handle the situations where we need blocking).
Chris Cooley is trade bait ..
Chris Cooley knows if he does not come back and Fred Davis improves his blocking then he could be traded. Fred Davis is bigger faster and younger. He also has pretty good hands. We could get more from trading Cooley thenany other player on the team.
What would New England do ?? They would trade him why he has good value for a draft pick and get a lineman.

it was the blond hair
why did Chris have to be a show off with the hair? Why do the Skins have to celebrate like A$$holes every time they make a play when it is their job to do so? Take a lesson from the real Skins of old when they just did their jobs for their paychecks?
You are forgetting, perhaps..
the Smurfs, the Fun Bunch??
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Guys this is not career threatening
Breaks are much better than ligament damage. I’d love to see Cooley come back this year, he is the most consistently entertaining member of the team. I’d love to see what Fred Davis can do, but 4 weeks is plenty. Gimme some Coooooooooooooooooooooley.
I'm a little torn.....
On one hand I would like to see Cooley come back and be productive. Let’s face it, if anything he can at least put up some numbers, stay loose, and get into a steady grind to finish out the season. He can test out the ankle to make sure there are no kinks, and there won’t be any questions going into next season.
On the other hand, Fred Davis did do well in terms of production. However, his blocking was absolutely horrid. He really needs to work on the basics, and not just worry about running routes like so many tight ends want to do. I would like to see Davis develop into an all around tight end, and the only way he is going to do that is by getting the reps in pratice, and getting a better feel for the speed of the NFL game, and understanding the true role of a tight end. I would love to see him progress, and have the potential for 2 tight end formations with him and Cooley in the future.
In reality, Cooley is nuts, loves the game, and loves his team, fans and teammates. If he says he is going to try to be back in 4 weeks, in his head he is thinking 3. The doctors and coaching staff are going to have to practically hold him back from getting on the field.
