Live Game Thread: Eagles @ Redskins
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins, Oct 26, 2009 8:30 PM EDT
A big concern of mine is how Sherman Lewis will handle the onslaught of zone blitzes from Eagles Defensive Coordinator, and Jim Johnson pupil, Sean McDermott. With zone blitzes, the middle of the field should have some holes, so hopefully Cooley and Sleepy can see get the ball with some open room.
Notes:
- Levi Jones will most likely be active tonight.
- Brian Mitchell will be inducted pre-game into the Ring of Fame

it means that it’s water under the bridge. Arguing about it isn’t going to change the fact that the refs didn’t see it and it went for a TD.

Does it seem to anyone that Portis is always running into the back of his O-lnemen?
by dwninit71 on Oct 26, 2009 10:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes, I agree
For some reason, Portis doesn’t realize that he can’t always follow behind an O-lineman or behind Sellers. Sometimes he has to break away and make a play on his own. But maybe he just isn’t capable of making those plays any longer.

Team lacks discipline
In the three phases of the game: offense gives up turnovers, defense gives up big plays and penalties at bad times, special team gaffes. Even one area of the team steps up the others let them down. No continuity and it starts from the top. Please fire Vinny and get a real GM and talent evaluators!

he’s no JaMarcus Russell.
I don't think this has ever happened before. The Redskins suck, yet the (Arizona) Cardinals and (University of Arizona) Wildcats don't.

Why?
So somebody who’s been cut by 31 other NFL teams can play center for us?

we'll get big red to play
he’s technically a center, right?

True.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but
I’m predicting that we will finish better than 2-14.
Heck, I’m looking at 4-12 at worst.

at lleast they might snap it to the qb not the ground
he has laso been beaten like a drum all year and is responsible for the protection calls

It doesn't matter which protection you call
if your offensive line plays like a blocking sled.

Yeah, I kinda already heard
So, it’s pretty much official that this season is over. But Davis did play well. He’s no Cooley, but still…

At least
we get to see who we got. Oh yeah, and I don’t think Gruden mentioned this at all tonight, ;-) but he needs to block better.

All that great at blocking either.

Zorn just said
On his press conference that he “snuck in there and called a few plays.”

wonder if that was the pick-6

Biggest missed play of the night????
I went to my lunchbreak and saw a replay where a WR (not sure which one, no sound at the bar I watched it at) went down the sideline wide open and campbell threw a 7 yard pass to the check down man on 3rd down.
TD there and I think it was 17 – 14 or something similar
next thing you know, after a 3 and out we fumble that Punt Return
Pretty sure I got that right
Were ther any owrse ones

That's my beef with Campbell.
I’ve defended him his entire career, up to and including this offseason, but now I’m losing faith in him. The guy can’t spot the open man. He’s too comfortable just checking down.

thanks dude
being English, living in Australia, kinda hard to find someone to talk NFL with, never mind a ’skins focused discussion
And more importantly I think this is the only Bulleting Board in the entire internet that does not descend into stupid name calling

this is certainly one of the best, if not THE best, Redskins-focused communities on the web.

just be nice if we had some wins to talk about
If my mum had bought me Patriots shorts instead of Redskins for Christman when I was 12 I would not have to feel this pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like
a bit of a random Xmas gift, especially living in England.
Of course, in 1992, the Patriots were absolutely rancid.

They were completely random
think they were on sale or something, my brother got Bears and I got Redskins, i’d always liked the NFL (what little we saw) so I just adopted them as my team
Didnt start following them properly though until 2004, Got Cable so was wathing on ESPN a lot and also following the Presidential election online I would go to Washington Post for news and one day I jsut flicked to the Sports Section, got suckered in properly right there

Ass Kicked
I’m taking bets on draft position…well, I would if I were a gambling man. I’m thinking we’re in line for the No.4 spot behind the Titans, Rams, and Buccaneers. I think the Chiefs and Raiders can maybe win 3 games. The Redskins will not.

We've played 7 games so far,
won 2 of them, and you don’t think we’ll win a single ’nother game all season?

6-2 start last year finshed 2-6 so surely logic states we finish 6-2 this year if we start 2-6 right!!!!
thats my theory and I’m sticking to it anyway, for my sanity I have too :)

Hilarious Note at the Tail-End of Yahoo's Review of the Game
The article is here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20091026028
Look at the bottom, at ‘Notes’:
NOTES: Former Redskins kick returner Brian Mitchell was inducted into the stadium’s ring of fame before the game. When he thanked owner Dan Snyder during his speech, fans began to boo. "No, don’t do that," he said. …
Awesome.

Bye week
BYE! Season’s over!
How much you want a bet the redskins will be 2-6 after this week? they won’t play anyone, but they’ll manage to lose. There will definitely be injuries: carpal tunnel or a sprained shoulder for sure

still my team
I have been a redskin fan for over forty years and I will always be a redskin fan.Three weeks ago for my brithday I got to go see the redskins play at home. the first time a had a chance to see my team play. yes there is many things that is wrong but I still love my team. I guess we hope that the skins will be like they were with Gibbs. We were the team back then and they cant take that from us. Go to the games and support our team. I love my team just like a hope you will. Gio skins
