Live Game Thread: KC Chiefs @ Washington Redskins
As I was going through my normal game thread routine of posting pictures of the coaches, I realized how relevant it was to post pictures of the "GM(s)" instead. The Chiefs are a team in clear re-building mode who brought in a proven winner with an eye for talent in Scott Pioli. On the flip side, we have an owner and a sidekick refusing to admit they have a team built with no chemistry and ten years of mistakes to show for it. This will certainly be highlighted if the building team wins. I hope you get a good chance Mr. Snyder to see how the Chiefs operate...and maybe one day that can be you on the left.

3 hours of tailgating...
And no sign of new miss fedex yet

D. Thomas is starting over Kelly now
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/d-thomas-starts-in-place-of-ke.html
They say they want something different on offense. I guess they feel that Marko Mitchell isn’t different from anything they’ve been doing. They’re using the same players and the same plays expecting different results. It’s just idiotic in so many ways.
Anyone see
Owen Schmitt from SEA beat himself in the face with his own helmet until he bled last weekend? Weird…
I can't get enough of this picture
Would love to know what play it was

Ok, if we're going to win again this year.... we have to win this week.
If we don’t win today, we won’t win again this season, as teams will just feast on us, and the poor morale will feed on itself.
Time to get a win, guys.
Portis has hit the wall
Its time for Mason to shine
Do they know that
They’re supposed to go past the marker to gain a first down? I don’t know if it was the play call or if it was Campbell, but that was just plain stupid.
it makes me sad.
wilson’s sack makes me happy though.
andre carter!
damn the chiefs line might be worse than ours, crazy.
this is the truth
but without branden albert, we’re just destroying their left side. it feels good. but yeah, same thing for our Oline.
The redskinettes outfits are on point
I’m glad someone showed up
by Kevin Ewoldt on Oct 18, 2009 1:31 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
That explains
KC with over 10 min and Washington just over 3 min
KC has a three times better line, so Washington has no offense
or it could be coaching
Landey
Got blocked 20 yards off the ball on that 2nd down play

giants
look like crap today. saints walking all over them.

so yeah their line is better than ours
because it can actually runblock.
the Chiefs aren't exactly defensive stalwarts
that is a joke

yes the whole organization has tremendous issues, and ultimately
it’s Snyder’s fault, but since we can’t change ownership, let’s change the on-field leadership, Zorn is clearly the least effective coach in the entire NFL. Our schedule has been a joke and we still haven’t been able to top-20. Enough excuses, fire Zorn, he sucks.

anywhere to watch it online
as painful as it must be, I can’t watch the skins because im stuck here in eagles country
Im in the club level boozing
Loads of giants fans taunting. Why do I come to fedex? Loads and loads of chiefs fans here too. Seems like 1 out of 10

Look what Sportsnation thinks about us
by Grand Tanyon Sturtze on Oct 18, 2009 2:10 PM EDT reply actions
we have more talented personnel on both sides of the ball than all of those teams except the Pats
But our coach + /es call a game for shit. It’s like they are trying to lose.

i'm just glad i don't live near DC anymore
I don’t want to watch this trash
by Grand Tanyon Sturtze on Oct 18, 2009 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions
No, we can't do that
Because it makes too much sense and we might actually have some success doing it.
This team
Is a fucking JOKE.Zorn should be fired after this game
I'm sorry
if they had run that back, I would’ve had to laugh. Might have been good actually, cuz Snyder may have just fired Zorn in the hallway at halftime
Wanna know why we cant beat shitty teams?
Because WE ARE one of those shitty teams. If we lose today it suprise one bit.as of matter of fact i wont be suprised if we lose every game!
JC and the O line
I am sick and tired of people saying it is all about the offensive line. Aaron Rodgers plays behind one of the worst lines in the NFL and he is probably averaging over 250 yards passing per game. JC is just not a good a QB.
What, exactly, will change if we fire Zorn?
This season? Nothing. We’re going to be awful, and if we fire Zorn, we’ll be awful. So why destroy what (little) team Chemistry does exist and fire Zorn before the end of game 16?
Without an O-Line, we’re going to be incapable of doing anything against any team, with any coach.
You a coach who can call an NFL game
The team would easily be 3-2 or 4-1
The team would have more than 1 first down before the 2 min warning
The team would actually try to score
Getting rid of Zorn doesn’t fix everything but it does fix a team which is better than they are playing because of coaching
There should be
A angry mob at vinny and dannys house after the game
and bench Mr check down also
lets not for get that he’s a lost cause sorry to all the JC fans but even you have to be seeing this by now
by confederate_gent on Oct 18, 2009 2:33 PM EDT reply actions
No, but better playcalling might
And if Zorn benched JC, then he’s going to be more wide open…. like that.
how did they ruien campbell?
come on he sucked lol
by confederate_gent on Oct 18, 2009 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions
They tried it once in the 1st half, and Campbell missed Moss.
by mechanicsville on Oct 18, 2009 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions
Any way they can bench the owner and his trusty sidekick?

Laron landry
Is 5 mins late on every play. He’s not stepping up like we hoped
by Kevin Ewoldt on Oct 18, 2009 2:47 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
I'm so upset about Campbell
but I’ll admit that it was the best move today. He has absolutely no confidence anymore. He has had the time today but hasn’t been able to make the plays. He is our David Carr.

by Kevin Ewoldt on Oct 18, 2009 2:50 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Why was Randle El
The receiver on that play, instead of our tall receivers? We kill ourselves in so many ways.
Collins sucks
I can’t believe he didn’t throw a TD there to the wrong personnel using the wrong plays.
stop stealing cable lol
and your screen would be perfect
by confederate_gent on Oct 18, 2009 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm so shocked that
so many people are actually happy about Campbell being benched.
But I guess I shouldnt be.
possibly
but it also shows how hypocritical they are. I don’t care WHAT Campbell has done, he’s better at QB than ARE is at PR, then Betts is at RB, then Rak is at pass coverage, then Zorn is at playcalling, game management, personnel management, hair styling, etc
you don't get the saints game?
at least then you could watch the giants getting thier ass kicked lol

they are a play behind but at leasy you’ll know whats going on
by confederate_gent on Oct 18, 2009 3:04 PM EDT reply actions
I use NFL fieldpass
You can get the (non delayed) radio coverage of any game, you choose between “neutral” Westwood coverage or, my fave, choose the home station coverage of the team you’re rooting for, and then you can watch the play by play notes or just listen.
It’s only $29 bucks for the whole season, and i think it’s worth it.
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
That explains it...
The networks are going to screw up the telecasts so folks will pay to listen online.
Technical Difficulties my ass
This is boring as fuck thats why they took it off
one is on Ir
the other is new Orleans
by confederate_gent on Oct 18, 2009 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Defense's run stopping is iffy
But at least we’re getting to the QB more often. But it could be KC’s O-line.
Collins is a decent qb
with a HORRIBLE COACH
about time for Skins to burn a time out
Why?
Don’t want them at the end of the game, Zorn calls a different type of game
I was about
to write the same thing, what an asshole.
Nope, that would be last year's Lions.
We’re not even in the top 10 worst EVER. Maybe top 30, though
well this team has not only fallen on it's sword
it has also managed to completely alienate the most loyal fanbase in the NFL. Perhaps there will be a silver lining when Mr. Snyder looks at this, looks in the mirror and decides that it’s time to make a complete chamge, not just a cosmetic one.
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....
All we can hope for at this point
Is that there’s no blowouts, but looking at this offense it’s probably inevitable.
If we clean house now
Then MAYBE we could be a playoff team in 2011
we will need a QB
i say we draft that kid Tom Brady… he should be available in the 6th and he might have some upside.
Snyder wants to buy a championship
instead of EARNING one like a REAL owner
Well we obviously
Aren’t going to win much, might as well hope that the rest of the NFC East loses as well.
We are so far from
being good on offense it’s scary. We need an upgrade at almost every position. We aren’t going to be good for quite awhile. I mean think about it, we don’t really have a #1 receiver, definitely don’t have a #2. Every line position needs an upgrade except maybe LG. We need a new running back, quarterback, and fullback. We are going to be bad for awhile
i predict
we hear that zorn has been fired before days end
We all should know by now
That “rebuild” and “patience” isn’t in Snyder’s vocabulary. Nor is “common sense” come to think of it.
Snyder
So call for Snyder’s head!
and he still owns the team…A new head coach may not be better but it can’t be worse and it will continue no matter what as long as Snyder owns the team.
He should have just worn a "for sale" sign
Because he won’t be here for much longer. Even though I doubt no one wants him at this point.
If you’re going to bench a QB, do it at the start of the week so the backup can get reps with the 1st team. Collins looked lost. He has been on the bench for 12 years.
we have GOT to
get a new O Line and new coach. I think the marjority of remainder the team has enough pieces in place that can win some games, or at least sustain some drives and get into the end zone on occassion. they wont be an elite team by far, but at least they could compete. they just dont even get the chance because its safeties and quarterback sacks and fumbles in the backfield with 3 and outs all day long and our D gets tired and starts to make bonehead plays. get some QB protection, and effective play calling, and we could compete on most Sundays.
there will always be a gaping hole with danny because he mismanages the cap. the whole organization is just fubar…even cincinnati is winning now…with the one coach the redskins should have promoted

No mo money
Snyder ain’t gettin another thin dime from my pocket. Not until he sells and goes into the tree trimmin biz. Somethin he’s good at.
February here we come!!!
I can’t wait until February, when we deploy our annual strategy of paying the biggest name FA hundreds of millions of dollars, then strut around crowing about how much scary talent we have on our team, and pretending that we Super Bowl contenders.
Who has the FA list for 2010? Let’s start fantasy shopping now. It beats the hell out of watching this team from September through December.
Like some other poster mentioned above, Snyder will never try to actually build a championship team with things like “talent” and “intelligence”, so let’s just enjoy those February wallet-busting signings. That’s Redskin football!
It’s strange what’s gone on the last couple years, especially. I still want to see the Skins win, but there’s very little, if any, emotion left these days. With Danny and Vinny running the show, it’s hard to expect much. And they’ve assembled a cast of characters who really aren’t especially likeable (which shouldn’t be surprising considering the kind of dudes that they appear to be). I mean, Chris Cooley and Chris Samuels are the only two guys I can think of who strike me “real Redskins”.
let me see
Portis for a 7th rounder?
Moss maybe 4th rounder?
ARE for 3 footballs?
Haynesworth to Eddy Curry of the Knicks? Haynesworth: Please meet your future self
blow it up now!
Get rid of high-priced hero’s for draft picks and Linemen. Can the coaching staff, the GM, etc…now. Why wait until the end of the season when we are going to go 2-14, 3-13 at best.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
now it's time to strip him of his job
he serves no purpose, his presence is just a reminder of the team’s futility, hiring someone in-season at this point will not make things any worse. I am hoping for Cowher because he would have the personality and is the only one out of the great candidates available now who would have superior bargaining power over Snyder – Snyder needs him so much more than he ever would need Snyder, and he’s the best, in my opinion, at getting personnel to really grit it out and maximize their on-field talents - exactly the opposite of what we’ve witnessed in this disaster people call the 2009 season.

Another good article on that
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/id/5147/zorn-stripped-of-play-calling-duties
We already know Snyder sucks and is a terrible owner, so I’m just going to skip over those parts because of their obvious nature and focus on what we can change – Zorn.
Notable quotes:
“Why in the world would you keep Zorn around if he’s not calling the plays?” … “If Snyder’s going to strip Zorn of his play-calling duties, he might as well go ahead and fire him. I hate that Zorn actually accepted this arrangement. It makes him look so weak. Snyder’s already brought in a 67-year-old offensive consultant who’s been on ice for five years. Now Zorn looks like the ultimate lame duck.”
Agreed, now please leave Zorn and let us try to move on.
by Grand Tanyon Sturtze on Oct 18, 2009 10:49 PM EDT reply actions
A lot of head coach do not call the play
So Zorn might still have use managing personels, motivating them, helping with game plans etc
Wait he suck at those too, who is the idiot who hired him in the first place?
He is about 60 and NOT ONE PERSON PREVIOUSLY through he will make a good head coach …… so our esteemed owner thinks he know something everyone else do not …..
well if you want to dismantle the club
it has to be done overnight due to the trade deadline.
Think the bears would be interested in London Fletcher, the Patriots in Portis?
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....
that game was so ugly
on both sides and we didn’t even win. pathetic.
