Coach Change?
Why are we as fans asking for a coaching change? Once again like the foolish citizens of Troy we are falling for another cheep parlor trick. You might be asking yourself what is this trick?
Well its simple....we do not need a new coach. Then what do we need? Its quite simple actually.
We need a new GM....and no GM does not stand for General Motors.
See this is what Napoleon with a cell phone and deep pockets does not want us fans to be discussing. Everyone for the most part is anticipating the arrival of the new coach this upcoming off-season. But why? Because there are names like Gruden, Holmgren, Shannahan, or Cowher out there. They are not the best possible choices. Almost all of them had general managers. Two of them inherited their Super Bowl teams.
More importantly this is the main point I am trying to hammer acros:
Napoleon should not hire a new coach. THE GENERAL MANAGER SHOULD HIRE THE NEW HEAD COACH.
Napoleon has no credibility nor insight in who should be the new head coach. He wants Shannahan the most because his douche friend Jerry Jones wants him.
So let me reiterate this: Napoleon should no longer be making any football decisions. We as fans should not be asking him to do so which is what we are doing now by demanding for a coaching change. We need an organizational change.

we're all on the same page
I think everyone on this site agree’s with you but we have all come to the conclusion that as long as napolean owns the team, no respectable gm will come because it boils down to the fact that he wants to play fantasy football with our team and any self respecting gm isn’t going to let the owner make the final decision on players when the owner knows jack shit about the game.

I agree totally
I hope it happens but Napoleon didn’t go away easily…

THE GENERAL MANAGER SHOULD HIRE THE NEW HEAD COACH.
So are you still calling for a coaching change?

You are 100% correct
Now, with problem in sight and Solution GM as the answer, when will it happen?
As long as Snyder is the owner it will not happen, Now start over
1. Snyder is the owner
2. He believe he understands Football and he believe in his VP of Operations, NO GM needed
3. Front office is established, per the owner and will not be changed.
Problem: Current Coach is unable to build a team to score points, call effective plays, manage the game and win games.
Solution Change Coaches,
Is it Zorn’s fault, No he was hired by the Front Office.
Is Zorn NOT an NFL level HEAD coach; yes but again no GM in place hired by front office
GM is not being put into place, roll the dice with the next guy!

I hate coaches with GM power, but one that demands that (Shanahan, Holmgrem) may be our only hope.
Does anyone know how Marty was able to fire Vinny?

He was the Director of Football Operations
Which is now Vinny’s title but at the time Vinny was Director of Player Personnel.

Michael Wilbon article
More and more people with established reputations are speaking bluntly to Snyder’s mode of operations. Jimmy Johnson for one has criticized Snyder and Zorn.

Pretty much agree
But, first of all, I don’t like the Napoleon comparison that ppl make for Snyder. Napoleon was a master strategist, and, as we all know, Snyder isn’t.
Also, I definitely see how Gruden “inherited” his Super Bowl team (even though the Bucs played that year against the Raiders team that he constructed), but who is the second guy you referred to?
Other than that, though, I agree. A new GM is needed. The team doesn’t need a lot of work, but it needs someone who knows how to build a complete team. As far as starters are concerned, Snyder and Cerrato have pretty good talent there. O-Line (as we all know) is falling apart and has been neglected, and Orakpo is starting at LB because we don’t have anyone else to put in his place, but I’m happy with every other starter. If they sit Portis down for a little while and let him get healthy, it’ll be good in the long run, and that contract might not seem too long (what’s gonna happen, we’ll lose to winless teams?). With good protection (as we saw last year), JC can make a couple great plays every game and protect the ball. But our depth sucks. I think we have two backup LBs, no legit backup FS, and our current starters on the OL should be backups (at best). CB backup is wearing thin, there’s a lot of running backs, but no one but Betts is doing anything for us (and he’s not doing a lot). Collins is fine as a backup right now, but he’s old. Of course, our D-Line depth is among the best in the league, but we’re starting the wrong guy opposite Carter.

The Napoleon analogy:
Even Napoleon had his Waterloo. In his case it was one of logistics: the supply lines were too long. Building and maintaining an NFL team is also a problem of logistics. Teams need a mix of veterans and younger players. Getting free agents that were early round picks such as Mike Williams is an illusion. After not being successful the round picked does not mean much. Even UDFA that have been successful are better options. Some times need to pick multiple
players in rounds 3-7 in a process of elimination to get good players. There aren’t that many starters that are ready in their first year at offensive tackle.

bottom line
Napolean was an imp who let his ego cloud his judgement.

I hope this story is wrong
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Why-Snyder-wants-Gruden.html
But if it isn’t Danny is going in the completely opposite direction he should be going. He wants to find a coach that will let him continue to make awful personnel decisions.
And that’s why I say the problems with this team are at the owner level, not below it. There are a lot of people clamoring for VC or Zorn to get fired as if the real problem lies at the level but it doesn’t. The problem is at the owner level. So be prepared for many more years of mediocrity (if we’re lucky) or suckage.

no Gruden
JFK’s The FAN’s beat reporter said this morning that he talked to Gruden’s agent yesterday and was told that not only have Ren and Stinny not contacted Gruden, but that Gruden is happy as hell right now doing MNF, and may not leave yet.
