Based on what my uncle in Tampa said about Jon Gruden, and Gruden's willingness to let Snyder and Cerrato make personnel decisions...this guarantees another 5-10 years of Redskins mediocrity. Gruden didn't exactly make great draft choices in Tampa, either. He steered Dungy's Super Bowl roster into the bottom of the league.

Sorry to keep beating a dead horse

but this can be expeted for the next X number of years. The X refers to the number of years Snyder owns the team. The article summed it up perfectly when referring to the problem Snyder had with Marty. He thinks he is helping by being involved with personnel decisions. The skins are his fantasy football team.

Gruden Is the ruffneck we need.nice job Snyder!!!!!!

Mr. Snyder is great. Look hes a fan like us and is doing all he can to make us win. On this feeling of Gruden he is right. These “nice guy” coaches are not working. The best fit is Gruden because he is tough on his players and thats what we need. Why do you think he was canned cuz his team got old and what was left was a bunch of whiners that were lousy and he was the scapegoat. Please hire Gruden. We will return to glory. This is a guy who eats, sleeps and drinks football. When asked why he can only sleep a few hours a night during the season, he replied"I’ll sleep in February". I think thats all that needs to be said.

Horse Dead-Best Candidate based on Snyder qualification

This does make the most sense, as far as a top of the line Head coach who can allow the owner to be the GM.
Which restores the horse which has been beat-As long as Snyder owns the team the same things will occur.

Blind Squirel may bet lucky but it’s tough on a fan…

WTF

Did you just call me a blind squirrel, a dead horse, or a cooked grouse? I think I should be pissed!

by grandpa grouse on Oct 12, 2009 4:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No to all the above

But I did say your are a cooked grouse, because the dead horse will be beat over and over by the fucking idiot owner who is a squirrel.

Kevin

I’ve heard you say before that Gruden only won a Super Bowl b/c he had Dungy’s roster? Correct me if I’m wrong there.

But couldn’t you say the only reason the ‘02 Raiders went to the Super Bowl is b/c Bill Callahan took Gruden’s roster to the Super Bowl?

Also after winning the Super Bowl the Bucs had one of the worst salary cap situations in the league and just couldn’t keep guys.

The last time he made the playoffs two years ago he had a great squad. It was just the Cadillac, Alstott, Rudd, Adams, Petigout, and some others went down for the year. If any team lost that then they would struggle.

Well...

It’s rare that an incoming coach inherits a Super Bowl caliber defense (Mike Tomlin also comes to mind). I think we can all name like 10 people from the Bucs roster that Super Bowl…can you name 10 from the Raiders (w/o googling)?….probably not. My point is, it’s easier to take that Bucs team all the way than that Raiders one.

Gruden’s draft picks outside Cadillac have been very questionable. They don’t have a lot of players contributing from their last drafts with him.

I don't even know what to think anymore

All I do from now on is hope that we as fans, get lucky and Cerrato realizes that you need to build a team through the draft (specifically the O and D lines most importantly) and Snyder realizes that he knows NOTHING about football and he should be locked in his mansion and only come out to write checks when there’s a valuable player in free agency that fits OUR team.

Another two years, another coach, repeat process… When will Snyder learn that maybe it’s him and not the 32 coaches he’s brought in/fired since he’s been here?

I hate Gruden.

please oh please don’t let this be true… He’s way overrated and I just don’t think he is what this team needs.

completely agree

Gruden has 2 things I’d really like to avoid:

1. WCO

2. Another coach who values his system over his players and isn’t particularly good at adapting to his talent.

The Offensive Line is Snyder's Fault

Right on

Those definitely don’t mix in the District. Russ Grimm would be awesome b/c I think the players would like him, he could def help a young o-line, and he would let his staff do their jobs the right way. He’s always been a part of class organizations.

“he could def help a young o-line”

This is a fantasy. No coach can help a young o-line that has no talent. I don’t think coaching makes a huge difference on the o-line anyways. Talent is what matters. Redskins don’t have that.

hopefully after the ’10 draft we have 3-5 young linemen who need grooming.

It won’t happen, but I could dream

What's even worse

Is the fact that he LOVES the wildcat. Just watch how many orgasms Gruden will have tonight when the Dolphins run the wildcat on MNF.

by bigrm18 on Oct 12, 2009 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'd rather that than Zorn who's in denial about the wildcat

good coaches adapt.

And just b/c Gruden likes the wildcat on MNF doesn’t mean he is going to implement it. You can tell the guy is a huge football fan and really gets siked to see athletic plays, the same thing any football fan with a pulse likes to see.

by pas493 on Oct 13, 2009 9:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I doubt it

I saw Gruden have a sit down interview with Steve Sabol and Sabol asked Gruden about the wildcat. You should have saw Gruden’s face light up. I seriously doubt that Gruden would rave so much about the wildcat every chance he got if he weren’t going to implement it.

Chucky is a psycho...

and a bad fit for DC. When will we get a winner and a class act back in DC? Gruden sees Danny’s wallet and that’s about all.

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

all I needed to see was

Sources close to Gruden say he’s interested in the Redskins because of Snyder’s free spending.

I probably still prefer Gruden over some other options (Fassel, Denny Green, Pete Carroll, etc.), but this did it for me. We need someone who can tell Snyder to put his wallet AWAY for once.

Pete Carroll?

Why is Pete Carroll leaving SC? That being said, if he were, I’d rather have him than Gruden or guys like Fassel. I’d have confidence in him with a rebuilding, young roster.

He’s a laid back Southern California guy, we need a hard nosed coach. He’s not going any where and he’s had his shot in the NFL before. The only way I would ever see PCarroll going back to the league is if the Rams moved back to LA.

by pas493 on Oct 14, 2009 9:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea, not surprising...

he’s one of our better players on D and the owners aren’t giving him a new deal. Now that the Bengals are good, I guess the Redskins can take their spot as the joke of the NFL with the Raiders. So frustrating.

by KevinE on Oct 12, 2009 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You don't want Gruden

He never developed a young QB and he never trusts the veteran QB’s on his roster. Remember a couple of years ago when they signed Jeff Garcia and also traded for Jake Plummer.

FIRE BRUCE BOCHY NOW!!!!!!
AND TAKE BRIAN SABEAN WITH HIM!!!!!

by 49er16 on Oct 13, 2009 12:00 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

Gruden always had a QB carousal and a bad relationship with every one. So many players came out of the woodwork after Gruden was fired and blasted him. He’s definitely not a player’s coach. That Bucs team was very divided when ‘Chucky’ left. Hopefully the same won’t be true for us when Zorn is fired.

by VA_Skin on Oct 13, 2009 11:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

NO GRUDEN!!!

He did nothing in Tampa and he is an ass to his players, especially QB’s. His teams are circus’s. Holmgren has said he would like to coach the Skins but he would ask for total control as in being the HC and GM and we all know how much of a control freak Snyder is so that wonthappen. And Shannahan has said he wants nothing to do with the Skins or Snyder. Would love to have Grimm back and bring back some of that old glory feeling, the fans would back him 100%. Fact is, Zorn isnt cut out to be a HC, hes too soft.
