Around SBN: Jeff Sullivan's MLB Trade Deadline Primer

""You have a philosophy, a West Coast philosophy, and nobody fits that mold," said Hoge, who comprehensively reviewed the Tampa game on tape. "I don't think they try to take advantage of their strengths. It's like they've got a philosophy and they want to run it regardless. Shoot, I'd run the ball, run a lot of run action, stack receivers, bunch 'em coming off the line. I'd use a different philosophy to take advantage of their strengths. The West Coast is not their strength."

"The great demise for any coach is when he's unwilling to adapt his philosophy to the strengths of his personnel," Hoge said. "I don't care what level you're at, eventually you have to evaluate the strength of your personnel and adjust your philosophy to those strengths."

ESPN analyst Merril Hoge talks about the Skins, via DC Sports Bog. Can he become our head coach?

Poor Coaching enough said !!!

Like I have posted before it is the coaches job to put his players in the best postion to win and be sucessful !! Jim Zorn does not, will not or just want do it !!!

Why is Devin Thomas not returning Kicks ??

Why is Marko Mitchell not having the chance to catch any fade routes or fly patterns since he did so well in preseason ??

Why is Anthony Alridge not getting the oppurtunity to dress and play and run some quick screens ??

Why dont we bunch our receivers more at the line of scrimmage this will make it harder for Db’s to lock up with them for the first several yards ???

Why can we not find a running back or player that can pick up one yard for us ?? ( Was this not a problem last year ??)

Don’t blame the players for a coach that so far has not been that creative !!

We have better than average talent at our skill postions they are just being minpulated by a less than average coach !!!!

Is San Franscisco as talented as they seem to be ? No, But they have a better than average coach manipulating average or less than average talent !!

This has been and continues to be the problem

Daniel Snyder and Vinny go and get players, any players who they think are good players or will be good players.
The Washington Redskins do not have an identity, where some players fit others do not, but without that understanding the team gets players and then struggles to perform.
Gibbs is the only coach who understood this and tried to change his offense to FIT the players
Either establish what the Redskins are going to be a only get players which fit into the scheme or be ready to change schemes to fit the players. Option A is what succesful teams do…

This is no suprise

Glad somebody has said it.

Campbells not from the WCO mold nor does he fit it but he’s still done a very manageable job. Portis was from the WCO but now he’s a completely different back. Moss may be a #1 receiver but lacks size for that position.

Square peg in a round hole theory. Unfortunatley, we’re wasting the talent of these guys. In retrospect, maybe Zorn is doing a great job with the players he has. Maybe next year we’ll have a coach who runs Campbell out of the wildcat 50% of the time.

Snyderrato is to blame as usual.

It's sad

When an ESPN analyst seems to have more football knowledge than our head coach. More importantly, he seems to have a lot more common sense because Hoge sees that one thing isn’t working, so he would be willing and able to do something else. Why Zorn continues to do the same thing expecting different results is beyond me.

He is medium and seeing progress

Even against Detriot, he was seeing progress….Door open don’t let it hit you in the A##….Good Bye Zorn

Gibbs had the personnel set

for a winning scheme when he left. The plan was that Greg Williams was to be the head coach, and Al Saunders as the OC. Snyder f**ked it up by either pissing Williams off, or being pissed off at Williams (my guess) and hired Zorn.

skinsymets said it…it became a game of square peg in round hole.

Way to go Snyder.
