my take on the reason we are not getting to the quarterback
refs
Im not one to make excuses but it seems to me that our defensive ends are either being held almost every play or they are giving offensive linemen piggyback rides on their way to the quarterback ! But this is something im sure we are all familiar with ! It seems like the refs single out the redskins almost every game we play ! Same with our receivers, defensive backs are constantly draped all over them, doing everything other than tackling them before the ball gets there ! But as usual we dont get the calls ! Example , Santana Moss being face masked on third down which should have been a 15 yarder ! instead we punt ! Someone needs to get up in the refs asses because its bull shit ! We shoot ourselves in the foot enough on our own ! We dont need the refs help ! Also why is it that players and coaches cant critisize the refs without getting fined ? Whats up with that crap ? I sometimes wish someone would punch one of those fu@%&rs in the face !

Okay….#1……skinsaholic……this is a blog……not a text message. Your messages are almost incoherent. A little proper grammar and complete thoughts go a long way!
#2……who else can we blame for the Skins losses? How bout the damned hotdog vendors…..maybe the parking attendants? The Skins have lost and they lost it themselves. Every team has to deal with the same refs…..the refs aren’t holding a grudge. They travel all over the country for all the teams…..you think because we were in Detroit that we had Detroit refs? Every team has to deal with it. The bottom line, with very few exceptions, is when a team loses….it’s the teams fault. I would hate to hear Zorn, Blache, Hayneworth, etc on the news blaming the refs for our losses. Every game so far, 1-2 facets of our team have been horrible. The sooner everyone stops blaming everything else…..the sooner the real problems can be fixed. It is time for everyone to man up and take the blame and fix this team….stop passing the buck. For the first 3 games……everyone is on here whining and crying about this and that. If we were all qualified to make the decisions and adjustments needed to make a successful football team…..we would be doing it. Instead….we are plummers, accountants, janitors, bank execs, etc (I am a land surveyor). Can we all stop bitching and passing blame….and just enjoy some football.
Yes….this team has looked horrible at times….but it sounds like some of us sit up and cry for hours after a loss. I absolutely love the Redskins! It will never change….but the bottom line is, it’s entertainment. If the Skins win the Super Bowl….it doesn’t mean I get to retire 5 years earlier. It doesn’t mean I will never get cancer. It’s not the end of the world. Just enjoy the football!!!!

here we go
At what point did i say that the reason we lose games is because of the refs ? If im not mistaken, I said we shoot our own selves in the foot ! Also I stated that the reason we dont get to the qb is because it seems to me that our defensive ends are either being held almost every play or they are giving offensive linemen piggyback rides on their way to the quarterback ! And yes the refs do single out our players ! They are all the time calling holding penalties on our players yet we can clearly see our defensive ends being held from behind rite in front of the refs and the flags dont come out ! And yes we can enjoy some football when we start winning ! So please read the blog correctly before you get diahrea of the mouth !

Point #1 was for you……point #2 was for the article!!! You can’t argue that your message above is not a mess of english and jibber!!! Sorry you thought the rest was toward you! To argue your response however….I think the Santana Moss facemask was a blown call that should have gone our way and I think the interference call on Horton was borderline……he turned his head at the last moment expecting impact….however….holding….it happens every play…..I think the shotty ass offense line isn’t as good at hiding it as other teams. I just disagree that we are being singled out!

Either way…..point 2 was for you then! Your whole post is pissing and moaning about the refs…..how can you start by saying: “At what point did i say that the reason we lose games is because of the refs ?”. Your whole post is whining about refs and them singling us out and I am saying BS! Read Pas493’s post below. Penalties are even….holding happens every play….we are just shitty at hiding it! Get over it and enjoy football.

This is awful
The reason we don’t get to the QB? WE DON’T BLITZ!!!! and when we do its a blatant blitz and everyone know we’re doing it.
We need to press with our corners and come up with some exotic blitz like the Jets/Ravens
by pas493 on Oct 2, 2009 9:25 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes this is true
but you dont have to blitz in order to get to the qb ! Our D-line has good enough players to get to the job done ! But when they have linemen hitching rides on their backs its kind of hard to get the job done ! If im not mistaken , When a defensive player gets past the offensive player thats defending him and the offensive player has a hand full of jersey or still has our player bent backwards like a bananna with his hand on the shoulder pads , Thats considerd a hold ! Im just clearly stating that the refs need to open up their eyes ! Watch the game sunday and see if our defensive ends are not held every other play !!
by skinaholic on Oct 2, 2009 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You’re delusional to say the least. The Santana call was blatant and has nothing to do with the lineman, but it was very costly. But there is holding on every single play on the line, stop whining, we’re not being blacklisted by referees. The refs actually, also, kept us in the game with penalty against Calvin Johnson, which I think was kind of ticky-tac and not a good call.
This is totally idiotic really the Redskins have 18 penalties this year, how many do their opponents have in the past three games??? 18!

I'm sorry
Our D-line has good enough players to get to the job done
I just do not agree with this. Daniels has never been a great pass rusher. And Carter…huh. Where do I begin? Well, he sucks as a pass rusher. Good pass rushers can get to the QB ON THEIR OWN. He can’t even do that when he’s one on one. We brought him in here to be a pass rusher, yet he’s averaged about 5 sacks a year. In 8 seasons he’s only had 2 with double digit sacks. That is NOT a premier pass rusher. Those are backup numbers. And now, you actually HAVE a premier pass rusher, but you stick him out of position at linebacker.
BTW – do you know why Carter wanted to leave SanFran? Because they put him at LB, and he said he was better suited at RE. Well, he’s FAR from proven that he’s better suited for ANYTHING in the starting lineup.
by CJHutch on Oct 2, 2009 1:19 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Ok
32 teams: Sack leaders DE or not
2008: 12 players had double digits
2007: 15 players-Carter was one of them
2006: 16 players
So, Carter is not good enough because he only has 2 years with double digit Sacks, but he falls in the top half
Unless every position player is a pro-bowl player the team cannot be succesful, come on!
It’s being a little critical to just be critical because of the lack of performance this year, but overall the team does have the players
by dr WNC on Oct 2, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
this year?
Carter has had one good year for us. Anyway, I didn’t say DE, I said pass rusher. That’s what we brought him in for. Some teams, like those that run the 3-4, use their OLB’s as their pass rushers. My point is that Carter is supposed to be our “primary” pass rusher. Now use your numbers to compare him to the primary pass rushers of all the other teams. I guarantee he’s near the bottom. Yet they still allow him to flounder there. Last year, you bring in one of the best pas rushers of ALL TIME, and you move him to a new position because you have CARTER in his spot? That’s ridiculous. And now they have another guy who’s better than Carter, yet they still won’t remove the guy.
by CJHutch on Oct 2, 2009 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
funny
I was trying to compare Carter’s salary to those of other DE’s over the past few years. Really, I don’t know how useful this is since the the veterans on this team usually have low base salaries. Anyway, I used this USA Today site to find his salary over the past few years. Only, when looking at DE’s, he’s nonexistent before last year. Upon further investigation, I found out that it’s because they don’t even know what position he plays. They have him listed at LB before ‘08. Which means he’s barely on the radar. Coincidence?

Taylor-on this again
So, now that he’s back in Miami he’s blowing up the sacks and everything
Total Solo Ast Sck
Jason Taylor MIA OLB 4 4 0 1.0
Andre Carter WAS DE 13 7 6 1.0
Must be a scheme thing in Miami too, but they do both have 1 sack, Carter has 3x the tackles

What's so shocking
Is the Broncos and Bengals are 2 of 3 teams (no need to name the 3rd on here) leading the NFL with 10 sacks!!
by VA_Skin on Oct 2, 2009 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yep, at SLB
the position Carter balked at playing. Anyway, do you REALLY think Taylor is the same player? I don’t My point is, when they brought him in, they THOUGHT he was. Yet they still put him on the wrong side, in deference to that " wild sack machine" Andre Carter.
Look, we will probably have to agree to disagree here. What I want to know is, are you REALLY satisfied with what we’ve gotten from Carter since he’s been here? Forget about the rest of the league, compare him to the rest of the division. Do you really think he stacks up against the “premier pass rushers” within the division? Because I don’t.
Here is a headline from when we 1st signed Carter. Personally, the first line makes me chuckle.
Securing an explosive upfield rusher like Carter should further enhance an already strong defense, one that over the last two years has been forced to manufacture sack opportunities through the clever maneuvering of creative coordinator Gregg Williams. In Carter, who ranked No. 20 among ESPN.com’s top unrestricted free agents, the Redskins gain a rusher who at least has the potential to net double-digit sacks.
by CJHutch on Oct 2, 2009 3:42 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It's a little bit of hindsight you are using here
If he put up double-digit sacks just 2 years ago, there was no reason to think he wouldn’t do it again with Big Al taking double teams. Instead, Carter only has 1 sack in 3 games. I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t been more of a force. But the real question is: Will Blache make whatever adjustments are necessary to get our pass rush up to where it should be?
If it makes you feel any better, the Giants DEs aren’t doing much better. Osi only has 1 sack and Tuck 1.5.
And DeMarcus Ware has a big fat goose-egg 0 for his number of sacks.
by VA_Skin on Oct 2, 2009 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Tuck, Osi, Ware
do you REALLY think they won’t up their numbers? Yes, Carter’s numbers WERE supposed to go up with Big Al. But they haven’t. And my point is, a top pass rusher can get to the QB a lot of the time without help.
If he put up double-digit sacks just 2 years ago, there was no reason to think he wouldn’t do it again
Funny, that line is VERY similar to the one they spun when the 1st signed him. Then it went something like " If he put up double-digit sacks in 2002 , there’s no reason to think he won’t do it again" Guess they forgot to add ONE MORE TIME
by CJHutch on Oct 2, 2009 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Their numbers will go up
And I have a sneaky suspicion that Carter’s will also. He’s already come within milliseconds of having more sacks – along with Haynesworth, Orakpo, Jarmon, Horton, and others. Blache is mixing it up right now. We just have to be patient, because sooner than later this D is going to get in sync.

doesn't it seem
He’s already come within milliseconds of having more sacks
like that’s been the story around here for years? No matter who it is, they ALMOST get there.

Sorry for not naming names
but the players i was refering to were, Haynesworth , Jarmon and Orakpo ! Those last two in my opinion should be the starting DE ! There is no logical reason as to why we are not getting to the qb other than the holding which is very evident in the backfield which in my opinion is very hard to hide when there is only a couple of people in the backfield during any given play !
