Shanahan - Snyder meeting?
i put this in a fan shot as well - but thought this was worth looking at...
first, there are legitimate rumors about Snyder contacting Shanahan in Cabo.
second - this

is a pretty funny entry about what it would be like if the skins DID have to go on another coaching search.
my two cents is - it would be a mess. hope rumor isn't true!

GM?
I had heard rumors about Shanahan being potentially tapped by Snyder as a GM from Chris Mortensen earlier in the postseason on NFL Countdown or something. There’s no way he’s the next coach of the Redskins.
I’d take anyone over Vinny Cerrato… And would encourage exploring this one, Danny.
terrible
even talking to Shanahan is a mistake. Bringing in a successful former coach as a “GM” basically sends the message to Zorn that his time is almost up….horribly stupid. IF Snyder wants to bring a real GM, he should do that by interviewing those who have only front office experience. However, he probably wants to continue to play GM himself while hiding behind Cerrato….
I'm not following your logic
It’s a bad idea to give a successful head coach with 25 years experience on the front lines a GM position? Why could he not be a “real” GM?
And why would this be a signal to Zorn that he’s dunzo? I assume that you’re implying that if Shanahan were to come in as GM, then he would want to bring in his own HC, and I can agree that would be a bad idea at this point in time, but what if Shanahan likes Zorn and wants to keep him around? Would it still be a bad idea then?

Logic would be
Any “football” addition to the Front office would be a good thing for the Redskins and logical. Which is why it’s just a rumor.
and coming off this season
and Snyder brings in a West Coast “mastermind” like Shanahan…I can see the writing on the wall: the experienced, Super Bowl coach waiting in the wings for the next time that I falter.
Plus, do any of us really think that Snyder will ever cede personnel to control to anyone but Gibbs?

I perceive Zorn as a confident man
And I doubt that he would throw his arms up and quit if Shanahan were brought in. Confidence is one thing, arrogance is another. I seriously doubt that he thinks he’s above learning a few things from a guy as seasoned and football smart as Shanahan.
If anything, I could see JZ viewing a move like this as proof that the F.O. is behind him and his system. He brought the system, and now the owner is bringing in the “mastermind” to help him further implement it. A two heads are better then one sorta thing. What young HC in the NFL wouldn’t love to work under a Shanahan GM?
Of course, it wouldn’t hurt if it was made known prior that Shanahan had no interest in being the HC, and was here solely as a GM.

Connection Cerrato and Shanahan
Cerrato and Shanahan worked together with San Franciso in the early 90s
Just saying…
Someone distract Snyder!
Anyone have a shiny object?
