Players to fit the Scheme vs Scheme to fit the Players
What did Redskins fans expect going into this season, that Jason Campbell and the rest of the offense would be running on all cylinders?
Here's what I know, Jason Campbell is not built to run the WCO. He's a 5-7 step drop, long delivery, deep throwing off play action quarterback. Look at past WCO QB's and see if any of them are similar in style to Campbell: Montana, Steve Young, Jeff Garcia, Farve, McNabb, Rich Gannon. When I look at all these names I think quick deliveries and high tempo offenses. I hate to say this but Campbell is probably more suited to run Gibbs' offense then Zorn's.
Here's where it went all wrong:
We have an owner that doesn't have football smarts and makes football decisions without a GM. So he brings in a new coach, with a new scheme and doesn't think done the line on how it will effect his QB that he gave up 3 fucking draft picks for. Look at the successful Owners in the NFL and you'll se the opposite of what Snyder does. I like that Snyder was a Redskins fan before he became the owner and that he desperately wants to see our team win, but all I see is your heart was in the right place but Dan your pissing in my wheaties and need to go away sooner rather then later. The only owner who gets away with this is Jerry Jones and I think that's because he's got football sense.
So what now? It's hard to see my team struggle and I'll maintain my fervent passion for them but seeing them sabotage by the owner is hard to stomach every year.

I say give JC a little more time. He ran a sort of WCO in Auburn his senior year and they went undefeated. He’s had a few years of Gibbs to get that out of his system, so now he’s sort of starting over. I agree week 1 wasn’t pretty, but that was on pretty much all sides of the ball. I’ve got to give him at least a few more weeks with no improvement before I start souring on him completely.

System
I get really annoyed by coaches and their wonderful “systems,” especially when they force players to run them whether they’re suited to it or not. Part of the reason Gibbs was so successful was because he chucked his “system” after starting 0-5 and tailored the offense around they players he already had.
I wish more coaches would put their egos on hold and adjust that way.

Also...
We were playing the Super Bowl champs in their house on a night when one of the most beloved Giants in history popped out of a giant Lombardi Trophy only to be holding the real Lombardi Trophy. The phrase that best describes our situation last week is that we simply just ran into a buzz saw.
If any other team was playing against the Giants…they probably wouldn’t have been given a chance much in the same we we weren’t by anyone in the media. You could see from a mile away that any team lining up with them that night was just running right into a buzz saw.
That doesn’t necessarily appease my concerns about this team…I’m just not ready to throw in the towel just yet. This should be a different week for us. JC should have more time in the pocket…we will see how Jim Zorn adjusts after his FIRST GAME AS A HEAD COACH. (Let’s not forget that.)
Two questions I have for you all…
First – If it is blatantly obvious that we need to run the ball down the Saint’s throats in order to win…how come no mention of Jon Jansen getting more time on the line since his specialty is blocking for the run game?
Second – Last year there was a link put up that had the broadcast zones for NFL games broken down on a map so us out of towners could see if the Skins were getting covered where we are. Unfortunately, it doesnt usually matter since I am forced to watch both the Cowboys and the Texans every week.
Let’s hope Laron Landry is sick of seeing his ass get buried by Brandon Jacobs every commercial break on ESPN and goes out to break some heads on Sunday.
