same game
was it just me or was this the same old redskins?
our defense bends but doesn't break ( minus first drive of season with lucky giant breaks). our offense couldn't score and was beyond bad with 4th quarter clock management. where was the no huddle at?
now on a positive note, i drank through the whole thing and maybe for the first time ever during a loss came out not terribly pissed off. lets be realistic, our offense is struggling in the new scheme and the D just needed a couple series to get back to form.
I know everyone is bitter about a first game loss but keep it real and let zorn get a chance to work this out. the defense will keep us in games just like it has for the past several years. lets see what happens next week at home after an extra long preparation period and then make stronger judgements.

Drinking
I drank the whole time too and it actually worked. At first I was getting mad as hell but once the brews kicked in I took on the old-redskins-fan-favorite-attitude oh-well-what-the-hell

During the opening ceremony
before kickoff, with Strahan out and the Lombardi trophy and all that, with the crowd booing over Madden and Michaels as the ‘Skins came out, opening day of the NFL season in one of the biggest stadiums against the returning SB champs totally jacked up, I remember thinking, “There could hardly be a worse environment in the NFL in which to play a game.” I’m pretty fatalistic about football to begin with — I’m an extremely cynical viewer — but even before a single snap I was already having my Gregg Easterbrook “it’s over” moment.
I was happy we kicked off to open the game as there wouldn’t have been any point to going out there with the crowd that jacked up to open the game. I thought it would’ve been HUGE to three-and-out the Giants, take the crowd out of the game, if only a little bit. And we had them, twice I think, on the opening drive on 3rd and passing distance situations. We just couldn’t get off the field.

sort of
i have to admit that the offense did remind of 2006, which is quite depressing. but i am not panicking yet. i thought the defense was good enough, and now im just hoping that campbell and the rest of the offense can get a better understanding of the west coast offense before things get ugly

while i believe this team is capable of winning, do you think that in 2 or 3 years itll be time to rebuild from scratch, sorta like KC, ATL, and MIA?

Starting now
In a lot of ways the Redksins have started the rebuilding now, to eliminate the seasons such as KC, ATL and Mia from occuring I think this reduces our opportunities now, keeping the Redskins as an average team.

i think
we’ll look back on this game in a month or two and see that we shouldn’t really be worried about the D at all. Giants will probably end up with a top 10 offense and we held em in check for a good portion of the game.
